At first I freaked out over the announcement. Then I remembered the Switch 2 has no games so I won't be missing out on anything for awhile lol. Hopefully my launch Switch can hold on until Splatoon 4. The Canadian price increase doesn't concern me because it was already ridiculous at $630. What does shock me is the Japanese price increase, the only place where the console was priced fairly so it sold well. RIP their Japanese sales lmao.
Nope. I was about to fall for the FOMO but then I realised I'm only buying the thing for Splatoon 4. So I can easily continue to wait. Things could change by then, there might even be a revision with better battery life. Plus, I'll sell a bunch of my games and other stuff which will basically pay for it anyway.
I've pinpointed the issue I have with the designs: it's the facial proportions, especially the eyes. It's just the faces that are horribly wrong. It's giving movie Sonic before they fixed him.
I failed art in school and even I can tell these are horrific. They prioritised realism over appealing designs. Even then, it's not truly realistic because the eyes are too beady which is not true of animals in nature. If they got the facial proportions right of real animals, then they would capture the appeal actual foxes have. You guys didn't even bring up Katt who got it the worst, to the point where I'm shocked her design was approved.
This game came as a pack in on my 3DS in 2012. It's been 14 years, Nintendo. And the graphics on this re-re-re-re-re-release sure are... interesting. Guys this is totally the Switch 2 system seller. I'm super happy they sidelined Rosalina in her own movie to sell Starfox 64 again.
@AI-Generation Exactly! Nintendo is sleep walking right into GTA 6 with nothing that will compete. They're gonna get steamrolled. Is the average person going to buy a Switch 2? Or are they going to buy a PS5 to play GTA 6 on it? I almost wonder is Nintendo is holding back or giving up because they know anything they release will be insanely overshadowed by GTA 6.
1. Raise the Japanese price of the console. It's super cheap over there so everyone bought it. Everywhere else the price is stupid high for what you get. 2. The games are way too expensive for what you get. I am not paying 120 Canadian dollars for a mid looking Mario Kart. It's just not happening no matter what people say. 3. Pointless accessories and features included are raising the price unnecessarily. I don't want an EyeToy camera. I don't want a dedicated gamechat button when I can just use Discord or call my friends. A mouse is cool... if any games actually used it. Which they don't. 4. Speaking of games... where are they? Switch One had awesome games within the first year of launch. Splatoon 2 (which you could sink endless hours into as an online multiplayer game) and Mario Odyssey, an awesome new 3D Mario. Those two alone justified a Switch 1 purchase for me on release. Versus... a glorified instruction manual which they charged you for, wheelchair basketball, another Mario Tennis on a console with three already (64, Aces, GB). Bananza is a niche title. Pokopia is the only one with any hope, but it's a clone of Dragon Quest Builders with the Pokemon license attached. Not exactly a world shatteringly original title which will revolutionize the gaming landscape forever. I'm only counting exclusives here, not cross gens or 3rd parties which belong on PC or PS5 or Steamdeck. Nintendo thrives on amazing exclusives with their great IPs. I think this right here is the absolute biggest problem. I could swallow the cost if there was an actual Splatoon 4 with all the bells and whistles and perhaps some other awesome games to go along with it. However, as it stands, the game selection is quite poor.
But yeah, sure, it's capitalism's fault somehow that Nintendo basically repeated all their Wii U mistakes. It can't be their own questionable decisions.
Today I learned I've been pronouncing a bunch of Pokemon's names incorrectly. Giving off the same energy as parents who call every Pokemon Pikachu lmao.
Kyogre = kai ogre
Rayquaza = ray quah sah
Kyurem = cure em
So they're all basically pronounced by me exactly as they're spelled. And Arceus will always be Ar-see-us, I don't care what GameFreak says lol.
I'm not surprised by its high sales. I pre ordered it and when I went to pick it 30 mins after the store opened, they said they had already sold all the non pre ordered copies!
I'm completely addicted to the new Tomodachi Life! It's great to play on study breaks! The number of hours I have is embarrassing haha... I think the amount of content in the game is good, but I would like maybe some more hobby items for the Miis. Perhaps more interactions for married couples as well. It's not a total deal breaker though. It's way more content rich than the 3DS game. People are complaining that their Miis are getting along too well and everyone got married within the hour, meanwhile my islanders won't stop fighting each other and keep threatening to break up. Sigh.
I'm totally fine with the lack of Mii sharing. I'm not very artistic, but my Miis will look unique lol. I bought a stylus for the game! I think it's more rewarding if you make them yourself and don't just brainlessly download them on QR codes like the original.
...Are people seriously still freaking out about the option to make your Mii gay? Really? If you don't like it, then just DON'T DO IT. It's really not that hard. You probably walk past a hundred gay people everyday and don't even notice! I'm gonna scare you... but your kids go outside too and they also walk past the scary gay people! Oh no! Some of their friends could be gay! Or... God forbid... they could be gay! So best to just lock Little Timmy in his room to protect him those who are different than him. Tomodachi Life will corrupt him so he should just play GTA instead where he can learn some wholesome morals and values. Sorry, this topic just really annoys me cus the argument is so dumb.
Comparing Tomodachi Life to the Sims is kind of a mistake. It's more like a nature reserve for your Miis. It's a much more casual experience meant to be checked in on, not totally no-lifed. You come back every once in awhile to drop some food or clothes in their enclosure, see if they're getting along, then leave. The variety of interactions improves the more characters you add to your little world. Hearing that it's more of the same is great for me because I adored the original 3DS game. The limitations of the original were its biggest problem so hearing that those have been lifted is great news. It has all the gameplay options I was looking forward to. And who knows, maybe an update will come down the line that improves the amount of things to do!
Please avoid the leaked ROM!!! Most uploads have malware and other nasty stuff included! Just wait a couple more days for your console/computer's safety.
I wonder if in the future they'll make a Switch 2 edition for it. One of the features could be an increased Mii limit. I think that would be fair for a Switch 2 version.
Lmao they're so desperate for people to use the pointless feature baked into the console. I wonder if they'll remove the button in a future 2.0 revision of the console.
The Tomodachi Life Living the Dream Demo was amazing! Even though it was short, all the features it showed off were super cool! It's just like the 3DS game but a million times better. Playing the demo actually made the wait for the full version even harder. Just a couple weeks more...
Wow, something I actually like! Bravo, Nintendo! I'm a fan of physical but I think they should have been doing this ages ago. It just makes sense. If this applies to releases like Mario Kart World and the digital gets a discount, I'm going to be quite happy in the future when I purchase a Switch 2.
Meh, these starters are whatever. I think the fire one looks way too close to Fennekin, especially with the red accents on the yellow fur on a dog like creature. I didn't play Scarlet and Violet, but I still bought a Sprigatito plush because it was so adorable
I saw some gameplay of Mario Tennis Fever and it actually looked pretty alright. Might pick it up in a couple years when I can track down a used copy and a cheap Switch 2.
Everything about Pokopia is setting off red flags for me. It's a game key card, copying and pasting a game that already exists, and they just admitted it was rushed through development. I have the feeling that the game will be a disaster. But Pokemon fans buy anything so it'll probably work out.
Wow. Charging that much for freaking unchanged GBA games is INSANE. They know you can easily play these old archaic games for free, right? You don't even get rewarded with cool physical collectibles if you buy them, just "screw you, pay us for a ROM." Happy anniversary, suckers.
Snivy is my fave Pokemon and will always be my fave! It sucks that it never gets any merch. Lilipup is my second fave Pokemon of all time because it's so cute. Weird choice I know lol
I'm exclusively a single player person (or I play in person with friends) so I'll pass. Plus, online isn't too fun when you're a casual. My fave is Mario Tennis 64 which is really addicting lol.
@WhiteTrashGuy I hate to say it, but I agree. I'm NSMBU's biggest hater and have been since the game came out, but the content, level design, and gameplay is better than Mario Wonder. The art of Mario Wonder is lovely, but there's nothing behind the facade.

Remember when you'd put a Wii game into the Wii U and get a big performance upgrade completely for free? I'd like the joy cons to be that entire colour instead of just the inside... Why is Nintendo in an emo era right now lmao? Everything is black. It's not sleek, it's just sad.
I was watching a streamer play the game and as soon as Myles showed up, he instantly muted him and turned off the dialogue lmao. Forspoken came to mind... "Erm, THAT just happened! Did you just blow up that up with your freaking mind?! Desk jobs and student loans amirite?" I'd like him better if he was silent. It'd be kind of charming.
I've been watching Let's Plays (especially Nintendo ones) since the genre basically started on Youtube and I've never heard of either of these channels. Maybe I only watched really niche channels... but this is cool nonetheless!
I put so many hours into this game back in the day! The NA box art gives me a twinge of nostalgia. It's definitely not my favourite entry because that would go to New Leaf. It's the middle evolution of the series and they cut most of the iconic holidays. It had a dark sense of humour like implying that Boondox's charity is fake and lines Tortimer's pockets. Or Lyle being a weasel who scams you into buying insurance so you can access the black market. It trimmed the fat to provide a portable Animal Crossing, but I like everything they did manage to include. It's almost the 20th anniversary of Wild World's release... Jeez, where do the years go?
Making people pay to upgrade the resolution is kind of scummy... and not including DLC either in the Switch 2 Edition is crazy. I'm still sticking with the Switch 1 version.
Meh, I'll hold out for a revision or a Lite. There's nothing that I absolutely must have just yet. At this point, it just seems like a Switch that's even bigger to carry around with a worse battery life at twice the price. The anti consumer crap isn't great either, like the fact they can brick the console that you bought just cus you had the audacity to purchase a second hand game... because 120 CAD is totally reasonable for freaking Mario Kart, how dare you buy a used copy! Actually, on second thought, I might skip out on this gen completely...
NES and SNES puzzle games are pretty addicting. I grew up with the GameBoy player attachment for the SNES, and now I play the NES ports of those games on NSO. My fave is Dr. Mario, I can waste so much time with that one... still never gets old!
My guess is that it's probably just an advertisement of some kind to promote the "magic" of Nintendo. I see lots of people saying it's Pikmin related so I'll go with that. I don't get any Mario vibes from this at all.
Hilarious that they cancelled this iconic series to focus on NFTs, which are totally more relevant than actual video games. What an amazing choice... I hope Mario and Sonic comes back, the winter ones were really fun.
@Coffee-Waffle Same here in Canada. Stores are wall to wall full of them. On launch day, larger stores did sell out but now they can't seem to get rid of them.
