Re: Nintendo Announces Sweeping Price Hikes For Switch 2

SykoMuffin

At first I freaked out over the announcement. Then I remembered the Switch 2 has no games so I won't be missing out on anything for awhile lol. Hopefully my launch Switch can hold on until Splatoon 4. The Canadian price increase doesn't concern me because it was already ridiculous at $630. What does shock me is the Japanese price increase, the only place where the console was priced fairly so it sold well. RIP their Japanese sales lmao.

Re: Talking Point: Star Fox Old Vs. New Designs Compared - Which Do You Prefer?

SykoMuffin

I failed art in school and even I can tell these are horrific. They prioritised realism over appealing designs. Even then, it's not truly realistic because the eyes are too beady which is not true of animals in nature. If they got the facial proportions right of real animals, then they would capture the appeal actual foxes have. You guys didn't even bring up Katt who got it the worst, to the point where I'm shocked her design was approved.

Re: The World Is In Such A Mess, Investors Actually Want Nintendo To Raise The Price Of The Switch 2

SykoMuffin

1. Raise the Japanese price of the console. It's super cheap over there so everyone bought it. Everywhere else the price is stupid high for what you get.
2. The games are way too expensive for what you get. I am not paying 120 Canadian dollars for a mid looking Mario Kart. It's just not happening no matter what people say.
3. Pointless accessories and features included are raising the price unnecessarily. I don't want an EyeToy camera. I don't want a dedicated gamechat button when I can just use Discord or call my friends. A mouse is cool... if any games actually used it. Which they don't.
4. Speaking of games... where are they? Switch One had awesome games within the first year of launch. Splatoon 2 (which you could sink endless hours into as an online multiplayer game) and Mario Odyssey, an awesome new 3D Mario. Those two alone justified a Switch 1 purchase for me on release. Versus... a glorified instruction manual which they charged you for, wheelchair basketball, another Mario Tennis on a console with three already (64, Aces, GB). Bananza is a niche title. Pokopia is the only one with any hope, but it's a clone of Dragon Quest Builders with the Pokemon license attached. Not exactly a world shatteringly original title which will revolutionize the gaming landscape forever. I'm only counting exclusives here, not cross gens or 3rd parties which belong on PC or PS5 or Steamdeck. Nintendo thrives on amazing exclusives with their great IPs. I think this right here is the absolute biggest problem. I could swallow the cost if there was an actual Splatoon 4 with all the bells and whistles and perhaps some other awesome games to go along with it. However, as it stands, the game selection is quite poor.

But yeah, sure, it's capitalism's fault somehow that Nintendo basically repeated all their Wii U mistakes. It can't be their own questionable decisions.

Re: Poll: How Do You Pronounce These Pokémon?

SykoMuffin

Today I learned I've been pronouncing a bunch of Pokemon's names incorrectly. Giving off the same energy as parents who call every Pokemon Pikachu lmao.

Kyogre = kai ogre
Rayquaza = ray quah sah
Kyurem = cure em

So they're all basically pronounced by me exactly as they're spelled. And Arceus will always be Ar-see-us, I don't care what GameFreak says lol.

Re: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream Was Reportedly Feature-Complete A Year Ago

SykoMuffin

I'm completely addicted to the new Tomodachi Life! It's great to play on study breaks! The number of hours I have is embarrassing haha... I think the amount of content in the game is good, but I would like maybe some more hobby items for the Miis. Perhaps more interactions for married couples as well. It's not a total deal breaker though. It's way more content rich than the 3DS game. People are complaining that their Miis are getting along too well and everyone got married within the hour, meanwhile my islanders won't stop fighting each other and keep threatening to break up. Sigh.

Re: Review: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream (Switch) - BREAKING NEWS: Mii Life Is Still Bizarre, Hilarious, And A Bit Samey

SykoMuffin

...Are people seriously still freaking out about the option to make your Mii gay? Really? If you don't like it, then just DON'T DO IT. It's really not that hard. You probably walk past a hundred gay people everyday and don't even notice! I'm gonna scare you... but your kids go outside too and they also walk past the scary gay people! Oh no! Some of their friends could be gay! Or... God forbid... they could be gay! So best to just lock Little Timmy in his room to protect him those who are different than him. Tomodachi Life will corrupt him so he should just play GTA instead where he can learn some wholesome morals and values. Sorry, this topic just really annoys me cus the argument is so dumb.

Re: Review: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream (Switch) - BREAKING NEWS: Mii Life Is Still Bizarre, Hilarious, And A Bit Samey

SykoMuffin

Comparing Tomodachi Life to the Sims is kind of a mistake. It's more like a nature reserve for your Miis. It's a much more casual experience meant to be checked in on, not totally no-lifed. You come back every once in awhile to drop some food or clothes in their enclosure, see if they're getting along, then leave. The variety of interactions improves the more characters you add to your little world. Hearing that it's more of the same is great for me because I adored the original 3DS game. The limitations of the original were its biggest problem so hearing that those have been lifted is great news. It has all the gameplay options I was looking forward to. And who knows, maybe an update will come down the line that improves the amount of things to do!

Re: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream Moves In On Switch 1 This April

SykoMuffin

I really didn't think allowing gay options would be so controversial, like come on. I thought we were more mature than this. Don't go outside, guys! You might see reality and that gay people exist! People being different than you is scary and you need a safe space, got it. So just... turn the option off in the game so you don't have to see the scary gay people?

Re: Review: Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - A Cheap Upgrade, But Lacking Substance

SykoMuffin

Remember when you'd put a Wii game into the Wii U and get a big performance upgrade completely for free? Love that it's 5 USD to boost the performance on a game you already own on the new console you just purchased. Oh, but you also get a megaphone that works worse than the one from New Leaf a decade ago! The only thing that I think might be a big upgrade is the addition of more players for multiplayer. I'm happy about the free update for the Switch 1 version which will make my gameplay experience loads better, but the Switch 2 version is kind of pathetic.

Re: Poll: So, Now The Dust Has Settled, How Did You Find Myles MacKenzie?

SykoMuffin

I was watching a streamer play the game and as soon as Myles showed up, he instantly muted him and turned off the dialogue lmao. Forspoken came to mind... "Erm, THAT just happened! Did you just blow up that up with your freaking mind?! Desk jobs and student loans amirite?" I'd like him better if he was silent. It'd be kind of charming.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Animal Crossing: Wild World

SykoMuffin

I put so many hours into this game back in the day! The NA box art gives me a twinge of nostalgia. It's definitely not my favourite entry because that would go to New Leaf. It's the middle evolution of the series and they cut most of the iconic holidays. It had a dark sense of humour like implying that Boondox's charity is fake and lines Tortimer's pockets. Or Lyle being a weasel who scams you into buying insurance so you can access the black market. It trimmed the fat to provide a portable Animal Crossing, but I like everything they did manage to include. It's almost the 20th anniversary of Wild World's release... Jeez, where do the years go?

Re: Nintendo Reportedly Increases Switch 2 Production To 25 Million Units For Year 1

SykoMuffin

Meh, I'll hold out for a revision or a Lite. There's nothing that I absolutely must have just yet. At this point, it just seems like a Switch that's even bigger to carry around with a worse battery life at twice the price. The anti consumer crap isn't great either, like the fact they can brick the console that you bought just cus you had the audacity to purchase a second hand game... because 120 CAD is totally reasonable for freaking Mario Kart, how dare you buy a used copy! Actually, on second thought, I might skip out on this gen completely...
