I thought the demo was really good. The platforming is solid with all the movement options you have available. The combat is satisfying with varying ways to approach enemies and how you deal with them. The controls are tight and responsive making mistakes and deaths feel like they were your own fault. It looks great graphically as well and the performance is really solid too making the platforming and combat even smoother than they already are. I also personally like how you take more damage if you mess up a parry because it incentivizes the player to learn how to time them better.
My only gripe with the demo is that it ends before you fight the first boss which I thought was a weird decision and was very disappointed by. But other than that, I enjoyed the demo a lot and I may actually be buying this game sooner rather than later.
@FragRed As @JohnnyMind mentioned, they definitely need a way to filter those games out so people don't have to keep scrolling through garbage to get to the games that are actually worth playing.
@Hwatt I’ll support the devs and send Ubisoft that message while also simultaneously sending them the message that discounting their games a month or two after they’ve been released is still a good business practice.
Nothing on the Switch this weekend except for maybe replaying the demo for Another Code: Recollection and maybe a little bit of Smash Ultimate as well. I'll mostly be playing Tamagotchi Adventure Kingdom on Apple Arcade. It's a really good game so far. Hopefully they'll at least port it to the Switch some time in the future so more people will get to play it.
@Fizza I think if you have the money to spare, you should still get Another Code: Recollection when it releases because you should be able to finish both games it comes with before the Apollo Justice Trilogy comes out with how short they are.
@ElRoberico I’m also excited to play that game too, but unfortunately I couldn’t vote for both Frogsong and Another Code: Recollection so I voted for the latter of the two because I’m a tiny bit more excited to play the two games in Recollection.
I completed every unlock and secret in Vampire Survivors a little while ago so now I'm just working on getting enough gold to get the last 2 characters I need to finish the roster.
Then after I do that I'll take a break for the rest of the day and tackle my PS5 backlog tomorrow.
This weekend I'll be playing more of Vampire Survivors. With the small sale it was on yesterday and with the Among Us DLC eventually coming to the Switch I figured I mind as well give it a shot and man, this game can be scarily addicting. I never thought I'd ever get this invested into a roguelite.
Then, when I'm done being addicted to Vampire Survivors, I'll be playing Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 on PS5 and I might also play the demo for Another Code: Recollection for the third time.
Nothing for me this week. But it’s really surprising to see that Hydlide got ported to the Switch. I wonder if the other Hydlide games will also get ports in the future as well.
I absolutely loved it and I am absolutely looking forward to playing both games next month. I’ve already played the demo twice now and might play it more because of how much I loved it.
@ChakraStomps Funny you say that I have a fragile ego when you’re the one that was too scared to actually reply to me directly. I mean, if I made terrible metaphors like you I wouldn’t want anyone to see my comment either.
I prefer the European box art, it looks nicer having the actual island in the background instead of it being blank. The US box art is trying too hard to look mysterious and it's too cluttered with all the text everywhere. Also, the zoomed out portrait of, Ashley, looks far better than the close-up on the US box art, in my opinion.
@ChakraStomps I could also ask you why you’re commenting too since you’re clearly trying to start drama for no reason. Sounds like I hit a nerve with how salty you are in that response. I hope you didn’t get too many tears in your keyboard.
@Anti-Matter No need to be sorry about that. I'm sure we're all busy with something in our lives. So it would be unrealistic to expect every user to be early to every article that's posted to Nintendo Life.
This year I thought Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE was for sure going to be my personal favorite game of 2023 with me being a Danganronpa fan. But then Super Mario RPG came along and knocked it off that pedestal. lol
Okay sure, it is a bit on the easy side and the platforming isn’t the greatest, but those are minor problems compared to how fantastic everything else about the game is. I cannot praise the engaging combat, the great soundtrack, the witty and, often times, humorous dialogue, and the stunning visuals and art style enough. Super Mario RPG was just such an amazing experience and I can definitely see myself doing a second playthrough in the future.
This weekend I’ll be playing Cthulhu Saves Christmas and Frog Detective after that.
Heck, I might also replay the demo for Another Code: Recollection because of how much I enjoyed it. I love how beautiful that game looks and how interesting the story is so far. I also love the cozy atmosphere this game gives off and how beautifully composed the soundtrack is. The main menu song and the song that plays when, Ashley, gets to the broken wooden bridge in the beginning are so nice to listen to that I could actually fall asleep to them.
So yeah, I will definitely be looking forward to playing and unraveling the stories for both games in Another Code: Recollection when it releases next month. I’ll probably have played the demo like 10 times or more by the time the full game releases. 😅
@ChakraStomps This game has been out for a little more than a year now. A lot of people already know what Gimmighoul and every other Pokémon in the game evolve into. So it’s not my fault you’ve been living under a rock for the past year or so. Maybe next time you shouldn’t read the comments in an article about Pokémon because you’re bound to get spoilers for every evolution in the game due to how old Scarlet and Violet are.
@Rozetta Ok but you're not getting a Gholdengo, you're getting a Gimmighoul with a mark that just says that it's chipper. Which means you would still have to find 999 more coins to evolve it. The dedicated players of Scarlet and Violet deserve to be gifted with a fully evolved Gimmighoul. Especially when they have to deal with all the bugs and glitches that STILL plague this game to this day. Along with being forced to pay for overpriced and underbaked DLC for QoL improvements.

That's good to see.

Re: Three More Sega Classics Are Being Revived, It's Claimed
@Clyde_Radcliffe Don't worry that game will be out in 2042.

@DonkeyBrainKing So. Many. Anime. Hentai. Games.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 13th)
This weekend I'll be continuing Frogsong and after that I'll be trying out the demo for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
Re: Yes, The Nintendo Switch Showcase Really Was Seven Years Ago
@Luminous117 I know right? It’s crazy how fast time flies. And before we know it, the Switch will be a decade old.
Re: Yes, The Nintendo Switch Showcase Really Was Seven Years Ago
Man, those 7 years went by so fast. I feel so old now.
Re: Konami Is Bringing Back Rocket Knight Adventures And Felix The Cat
@Waluigi451 I have to agree. Not to mention you’d have to wait like half a year for your order too.

Re: Nintendo Download: 11th January (North America)
Oh yeah, I forgot the demo for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is out today. So I'll definitely be checking that out.
Re: Japanese Charts: Strong PlayStation Sales Can't Knock Mario Wonder From The Top Spot
@Eagly_lmtd_xmasskin I'll be playing my first Yakuza game in a couple weeks.
Re: Nintendo Download: 11th January (North America)
I’ve been looking forward to Frogsong all week. I can’t wait to finally play it tomorrow! 🐸
Re: Video: Mario vs. Donkey Kong Switch Shows Off New Worlds, Co-Op And More
I won’t be buying this because I’m not a fan of puzzle games but I’m still surprised Nintendo priced a Mario game at $50.
Re: Poll: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet's Free Epilogue Lands On Switch Today, Will You Be Playing It?
How is the epilogue free when you have to pay $70 to actually play it?
Re: Talking Point: What Will The 'Switch 2' Actually Be Called?
@johnvboy Switch Up would be a pretty cool name too.
Re: Talking Point: What Will The 'Switch 2' Actually Be Called?
@braincandy101 Yeah, you’re right, we probably will get something lame like Switch 2 or +.
Re: Talking Point: What Will The 'Switch 2' Actually Be Called?
@Tyranexx Oh hi, Doofenshmirtz, welcome to Nintendo Life.
Re: Talking Point: What Will The 'Switch 2' Actually Be Called?
I think Super Nintendo Switch would be a great name for it.
Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's New Spirits Have Been Revealed, Out This Week
@Eggolor
You’re not alone on that sentiment, I don’t like any of the franchises represented in these spirits either, to be honest.
I’ve tried at least one game from all four of them but they just never clicked with me.
Re: Random: Horrific Mario Hologram Is Freaking Out CES Attendees
Mario has logged in.
Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's New Spirits Have Been Revealed, Out This Week
@RobTheIII I miss trophies too. Hopefully they’ll return in the next Smash game.
Re: Nintendo Shares Hit Record High, Apparently Thanks To 'Switch 2' Fever
@Sisilly_G Probably both.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 6th)
@Aispen Yeah, it's a shame that the devs released that game underbaked when it needed more time in the oven.

@Poodlestargenerica
If that's true, then I'm definitely a little more interested in this game than I was before.
Re: GBA-Inspired Horror Adventure 'The Bunny Graveyard' Hops Onto Switch This Year
I’ve seen other YouTubers play this game and it does look pretty interesting so I’ll consider buying it when it releases.
