7 and 8 are very forgettable to me. Have never even replayed them. 7 is scary but it doesn't feel Resident Evil, and the first person view did not help at all. 8 is just bland, incredibly so. No amount of fantastically produced boss fight saves it from being bland and forgetful. I haven't even finished the DLC yet.
Both games are off-shoots from the main lore that begin and end within themselves. And to be honest, I'm glad they do. Hopefully 9 is the one that will begin a new series of interconnected games, like 1, 2, 3 and Code Veronica are. Doesn't even have to be Umbrella pulling the strings anymore. But as the author of the article suggests, these games are a lot more interesting when there's a through line between them, be that a memorable villain or a shared mythos. Hope you've made the right choices for Requiem, Capcom!
I find it insane that MP4B is that low. I'm loving the game. And while it doesn't punch you in the gut quite like MP1 originally did, it's still a gorgeous, fun affair. Tbh I'm putting it down to people just being too f****** jaded and unhappy at everything these days.
Cannot wait! This will be my actual first SW2 game, even though I have had the console since launch. But none of the offerings have enticed me yet. However, I've wanted the SW2 version of this game for a long time and release day is finally nearly here.
A 3-part remake was wholly unnecessary. They're deep into it now, but the aim was to make mega profits, which they're not exactly getting. It does seem to be meeting with success, but not to the extent they probably hoped for with a 3-part setup.
There is an over dependence on padding in both first parts and if they had trimmed all that boring excess that has to be trudged through to get to the meat, they could have done a single game. Haven't even finished Rebirth yet and had to force myself to finish Remake. I hope Reunion, or whatever is ends up being called, curbs down the padding, but given their history with this whole remake effort, my expectations are quite low now.
I'm buying it for my PS5 Pro because I also have that console and that will more than likely be the superior version. But I do hope the game is successful on Switch 2 so that publishers feel encouraged to release their main titles for it.
Will I get 15 year old games that are on their second re-release at a cost of £60? Will I contribute to Nintendo's growing appetite for nickel and diming? The answer is hell no.
This screams low cost remake. It's hard to conceive that SEGA would invest so little in the remaking of some of their most iconic properties. Whoever is managing the company, has a terribly poor mindset.
I'll probably buy this game when it's on a 50% sale or so. I love the way the team embraces the "hobbitness" of it all! And the game does give off very chill and cute vibes. Until then, more time to keep patching it up.
People should really stop rewarding From Software with sales numbers when they are terrible at optimising their games. The last game from them that I fully played was Bloodborne and after that only played a couple of hours of Elden Ring that I borrowed. It felt like they're only getting worse at it.
Only makes From Software's poor optimisation skills come across as even more egregious.
I already have and beat the game on PS4 and also got Rebirth on PS5, but I'm glad Square Enix was able to properly optimise it for Switch 2 for those that have never played it or want to double dip.
@Fiergala Americans? Surely you mean USians. America is a rather large continent subdivided intro 3 main parts. And I have nothing but pity for USians and their current self-inflicted plight.
@Fiergala Predictably, nothing but deflection. You were proven wrong on your bitter anti-European tirade, but all of a sudden it’s a joke. Learn to take the L and go.
@Fiergala Do we now? And what's your opinion on something like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (France)? And what about Rockstar North and its little known GTA games (England)? Or maybe even the Horizon games made by Guerrilla (Netherlands)? Or perhaps all that bad taste in Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk (Poland)?
Sit this one out. You have no clue what you're talking about.
As someone that has fully gone completely digital with the PS5 and Switch generations, the space for gamer cards for me is a waste. I like this case but ended up not buying it because instead of the game cards spaces, I'd rather have space for a USB-C cable or something useful in terms of usability for my particular needs.
I've bought the Savage Raven case which does still have game cards spaces, but also has a nice pouch for small accessories likes cables or the like, plus also has a slim but protective form factor.
I've never much liked Mario or games he has created. I love storytelling and yes, I love it more when the gameplay that goes along with it is satisfying and enriches the experience. But a gameplay first and foremost game is one I'll likely not be interested in, apart from some exceptions.
Miyamoto is a successful games creator - for the types of games he creates and for the people that enjoy those types of games. They're mostly not for me and I disagree with his statement. Fortunately, as with most things in life, no single way of doing things if the right way.
@SuperRetroArt And that is fine. I also have Kirby and the Forgotten Land, so I’ll just buy the upgrade pack for that as well, which is actually better than the upgrade packs for the Zelda games as it’s a proper expansion to the game. Don’t even have the Zelda games anyway, they stopped being fun for me when they went open world.
Kirby Xpack only comes out in August but that’s not a problem, I can continue playing my Switch 1 games on the S2 until then. And in any case we have an OG Switch and an OLED one as well, which we’ll be selling after we get the S2, so the cost will be nearly fully covered.
But given the technical improvements for the game on the S2 over the S1, I still see MP4B as my first true S2 game, whether it comes out at launch or a little while after. It’s the game I’m most excited for and want to experience it at its best.
Pre-ordered mine yesterday on the Argos website - UK. Normal console pack without MK World as I'm not interested in it, plus a Pro controller. Metroid Prime 4 Beyond will be my first game on it. Have a voucher left for a Switch 1 game that I'll use to get the game and then I'll get the Switch 2 upgrade pack for the game.
Edit: Just checked and it's out of stock today. Guess I got lucky!
I've only played for a little over 2 hours on PC so far and I'm loving it! And I have played every Civ game, including the very first. Granted, I haven't got to the changing of the Ages yet, but enjoying most mechanics so far, whether new or altered from Civ 6.
If it plays decently well on the Switch too, ass seems to be the case going by this article, then I definitely recommend people buy the game.
£399 at most or... I get my pitchfork! Don't think it will sell as well as they hope either, if it's priced above that. People love the Switch for various reasons, but one of them is definitely the fun yet affordable angle.
Anything past £399/399€/399$ point will seem quite unaffordable I think. That's already 100 more than the original Switch's launch price, which people will probably accept as the evolution of the economy and prices. Add more on top of that and people are likely to consider whether their kid really need something that expensive to play on.
I've pre-ordered on the eShop using those £84 Nintendo Vouchers. Haven't chosen the second game yet, but the voucher's likely going to be used for Metroid Prime 4 Beyond.
I suspect NetEase might release the game for Switch 2 whenever that comes out, as it should be an easy port to make and would bring in not only more players to the series, but also more income for this game. It definitely deserves the extra exposure.
Hopefully, Ryosuke Yoshida moving to Square Enix means that a sequel will be led by him and developed in-house, seeing as they own the IP.
Visions of Mana was outsourced, however. And it turned out surprisingly well despite the fact. It's a stellar game, I recommend it to anyone into JRPGs. It has deeper than expected gameplay which plays really well and looks so, so beautiful in motion. I often stop and stare at parts of the scenery.
It cannot be a pure handheld system, separate from the main console, like in the past. The PSP did moderately well but the Vita tanked because of a lack of support form Sony. And I don't see them being able to support both a console and a handheld in the future, not with the ever increasing costs of game production.
So what would work as a new handheld from Sony? A Portal 2, essentially. With Remote Play and cloud streaming for PS5 and PS6 as its main focus. And added native digital emulation for PS1, 2, 3 and 4 games. That's a handheld that would be successful in the current times. A classic handheld, however, would not I'm afraid.
Seeing as Sony already has the template, a PlayStation Portal 2 that is a companion device to PS5 and 6 but also has added features, as I described above, could be successful.
I was a backer on Kickstarter when the game was originally announced, but ended up not playing much. Got it on PS4. Performance was subpar and the game itself simply wasn't much fun.
Entry is also infamously bad. Bottom of the barrel bad. Yet a lore rich entry with iconic characters and set pieces like Code Veronica sits there without a remake.
"A previously announced AAA game based on a major license" is the KOTOR remake, right? Wasn't that handed to a different Saber Interactive team when Aspyr lost the rights to make it?
I played and finished (both endings) Inside only a few weeks ago and it's a game that has stayed with me. Because of the ambiguity of the meaning of it all but also because, if we put aside the metaphor about gamers and control, his quest ended bittersweetly. In the normal ending at least. Furthermore, regardless of our search for the meaning of the game's concept and story, it's a gorgeous, poignant game. It marries sound and visual detail with mesmerising results. I cannot wait for Playdead's next game. I enjoyed Limbo, but Inside was a master class.
The French dub is the best and all of them sound very appropriate for Mario as a character. Except the American English one. Chris Pratt is not a fantastic human being and the same applies to his performance as Mario's voice actor, it would seem.
I think it deserves more than a 5. Granted I played it on my PS5 so can't speak to the technical issues found on the Switch, however and despite the repetitiveness it has a charm all its own. I enjoyed it and platinumed it. But I suppose it's that type of game that you either get into or not really much at all.
