The first movie wasn't terrible, but I still don't like these character designs. How freaking hard was it to just stick to how they look in the pre-rendered art for the games? Maybe chuck a little more detail in places for good measure, but as for those facial proportions... yuck.
@ottoecamn : Even with my extremely limited knowledge of Japanese, I noticed the many, many embellishments in the English text when compared with what I was hearing of the Japanese. All I want is a faithful adaptation of the original dialogue, even if some may deem it "bland".
I was hoping for some character-themed unlockable furniture too.
As long as the Big Man amiibo can be used to summon either Splatoon villager, they should have extended that functionality to all Splatoon amiibo (and likewise of the Zelda amiibo for their respective villagers).
In any case, I already have them all, and I still have a mountain of cards to get through if I'm ever to collect everybody's portraits.
I only wonder if the new additions will be enough to renew my interest in the game. I must have played it for some 900ish hours, the most of any Switch game, but I got burned out from the same routine (which easily consumes 2-3 hours per day), and I haven't played it in what feels like over 2 years now.
@Friendly : All three are treated as separate games, so for whatever bizarre reason, they've skipped the complete edition and went with Overcooked 2 only.
People are seriously making excuses for Nintendo et al. releasing significant paid DLC for games barely 1-2 months after release?
By all means, release them digitally asap, but for crying out loud, delay the damn physical releases until all of the content can be consolidated on a single cart. I'll even pay AU$155 for your bloody game, but I don't buy physical games only for the other half to be account-locked and/or tethered to a single console, especially at those inflated prices.
And the fact that this is releasing just weeks after the base game screams shamelessly cut content.
Forget a Pokémon game even giving us a single region, now it seems that they're happy charging US$70 for half a city!
@Eh-Red : Unfortunately, GKCs aren't even cheaper to make up for it. Resident Evil Requiem is retailing for AU$130 here, being the highest price for any standard edition game that I have yet seen, and none of it is even on the damn cart.
I could grant a little grace if the games were cheaper to reflect the lack of proper cartridges, but this is just obscene.
Hopefully an all-on-cart version will materialise (as it previously did with Sw/Sh and S/V), even if that means waiting some months after the digital launch.
I really want to play this, but I don't want to keep rebuying the games either.
@topsekret : You've pretty much summed up my Switch 1 buying habits and sentiments toward the Switch 2 so far.
In fact, the whole GKC situation is why I'm skipping at launch (and the console seems to have other issues as well, so I might as well wait for a revision and/or OLED model at this point). I might grab a few third party physical releases that I suspect might go out of print, but as for first party titles, I might as well wait until I grab the actual console, because a lot of the software updates will be baked into the cartridge by then.
Incredibly disappointing. It's arguably worse than the Wii U, because we were able to buy third party games physically at least, as few and far between as they were (and they were also playable straight off the disc, unlike rival consoles, which I think gave the Wii U yet another unique point of difference that went completely unappreciated).
Had every third party release been on the cartridge, then it would have been a phenomenal launch, with some fantastic games so early into the console's life, but as it stands, I'm incredibly underwhelmed, and the ability to play Switch 1 with some performance improvements is currently the Switch 2's most compelling selling point, but that alone isn't enough.
This looks like the sort of cheap knock-off slop you'd find in the eShop, which is pity for a franchise that's been kicking it for nearly four decades.
With that said, given that there's a physical release, I'll likely grab it eventually, but I'll wait for a sale.
I wasn't keen on getting a plain Pro Controller 2 (or any other such accessory for that matter), so pretty much any theme would be preferable. I certainly wasn't expecting Resident Evil to be the first, but I'm not complaining. I also don't hate the design like some do, and I appreciate what they've done with it.
But it's ridiculously expensive at AU$135, plus it's currently exclusive to EB Games's (paid) membership holders.
Hopefully that will change and it will become available to all consumers after its release, but $135 is really steep, and EB defaults to full retail price for everything, and I can't see this being available at anything less given that it will probably be quite limited.
Similarly, Requiem is also retailing for AU$130, which is absolutely obscene, made more so by the fact that it's a GKC to add insult to injury. Cyberpunk 2077 retails at a lower AU$120, and is available more cheaply than its SRP anyway, so what's Capcom's excuse here?
Gigantamax Garbodor débuted in Pokémon Go earlier today. My first one was shiny, and I later caught a perfect one, but my luck ended there. Not much else of note, but a fun day out.
I'll get the upgrade pack whenever I pick up a Switch 2, and only because it's relatively cheap. In most cases, I'd rather double-dip on the physical.
Hell, I'd have eagerly double-dipped on this had it included the DLC on the cart, but as it stands, it's a hard pass (and likewise of BOTW, though I'll happily double-dip on TOTK).
What would people even expect from a new entry? Animal Crossing is one of the most formulaic series there is, and apart from adding new content here and there, I don't see how a new instalment will even bring anything substantially innovative to justify starting from scratch. I still have mountains to do in New Horizons, but I got fatigued with the demanding gameplay loop (I was playing about 2 hours per day, which was a bit much). If they could upgrade the game to include more quality of life features, and make some of the daily tasks less of a chore, then that would entice me far more than a new entry. I think it's easily my most played game on Switch, but I probably haven't played it in over 2 years now, though this upgrade will probably rope me back in (albeit not straight away).
When City Folk/Let's Go To The City was announced all those years ago, I was looking forward to the town expanding to include more urban environments, but all it amounted to was a hub that made certain features/merchants more readily accessible, and that aside, the game was virtually identical to Wild World on DS.
The lack of touch controls in New Horizons is also such a huge step back. It's frustrating enough when third parties ignore Switch-specific capabilities and stick too rigidly to feature parity with other versions, but Nintendo has no excuses. I'd have expected touch controls (which would benefit both generations of consoles) before mouse controls.
To be clear, this version only works on Switch 2, yes?
I'm a little disappointed that this isn't a two-in-one release considering that the cartridge should have more than enough space for both even if they're separate builds of the software (as opposed to a Switch 1 game enhanced for Switch 2 like the "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" releases).
In any case, I'll likely grab the Switch 2 version eventually. I might even grab the Switch 1 version, but only if it's on sale.
@Kiyata : The new cartridge will include the new content, but the moment a new update is released after the fact, no matter how small, you will have to download the entirety of any updates (currently about 6GB, from memory) released to date if you want to download any further updates.
Here's hoping that any physical release will be complete and include the Deluxe Edition content on the cartridge as well (and any other paid DLC released thus far).
They've recently released the base game on cartridge (after the Deluxe Edition), which seemed like such a monumentally stupid thing to do. Who in their right mind would spring for a physical release with less content. What the hell were they thinking?!
@FishyS : If it's a "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition", then that suggests that it will be upgradable just like every such subtitled game (and that it will utilise your existing save data).
@dskatter : That option already exists. It's called buying the base game + cheap upgrade pack. There's almost nothing in this physical re-release to justify a whole separate release.
This isn't a positive thing. The DLC isn't even included.
I would have happily double-dipped and paid more for a complete release with absolutely everything on the cart.
Nintendo's really pissing me off with these re-releases of years-old games and leaving out the DLC (as they've also done with BOTW). Imagine if Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors 1, Pikmin 3, Layton etc., on Switch were just the base game, and Nintendo deliberately left out the DLC to nickel and dime us again (or, more annoyingly, deprive us of the opportunity to own a complete physical copy of the game).
Even the scummiest of third parties tend to include the DLC when they re-release their games. Whoever's making these inane decisions at Nintendo HQ needs to get dumped.
So... it's basically confirmed that, like BOTW, the Happy Home DLC won't be included with the physical release. What a joke. 😢
I've been itching for a complete with DLC physical release for years, and the Switch 2 version was the perfect excuse to make that happen.
Imagine if Mario Kart 8 on Switch was just the base game, and Nintendo expected everybody to cough up more money for the Wii U DLC. Not even third parties tend to be this contemptible, but modern Nintendo keep lowering the bar...
I would happily double-dip on this (and triple-dip on BotW) if Nintendo bothered to do the right thing here...
Considering that the S2 upgrade is only AU$8, I'm more inclined to take that route in this case, but I'd have happily paid up for a proper, complete physical release with absolutely everything on the cart. 😢
@DarkTron : A single sentence is not "rambling". Reflect on the inane irrationality of your own comments before smugly disparaging others. If irreverence means nothing to you, great. I wasn't begruding anybody of indulging in a game of this persuasion (unlike those who seek to ban anything that they personally deem offensive). I merely (and very briefly) stated that I won't be. And my preference seemed to really bother some of you. Act like an adult and have the maturity to understand that some people have different values/priorities/perspectives and get over yourself.
Why the hell didn't they just make ONE cartridge with all three GKCs instead? As long as Capcom are being anti-consumer, they could have at least thrown that wee little bone of convenience for players.
I'm keen on the controller and amiibo, but it's a hard pass on the games, which is such a pity. 😞 The boxset should have been a more expensive limited edition with actual cartridges for all three games (now that would have been super exciting, especially as all three games will be new to Nintendo players). After Capcom's excellent 5-in-1 Mega Man boxset on Switch 1, this is such a monumental downgrade. It seems that third parties rarely take pride in their products these days.
Most Resident Evil games tend to be quite cheap in the eShop when on sale, so I guess that's an option I may consider. The GKCs would have to be really cheap to convince me to grab those instead.
@Elektrogeist1287 : "sEeK tHerApY". Dude, I made one passing remark. What's your damn problem?
At no point had I proselytised or propped myself up as some beacon of impeccable virtue (FYI, good people don't go around professing what good people they are), so again, ditch the crappy attitude and reflect on your own character, which could clearly use some work.
@Elektrogeist1287 @DarkTron : A passing comment (one sentence) is what passes for "rambling" these days? 🤨
If either of you possessed an iota of maturity, you'd have understood that perhaps, God forbid, some people have different views and/or values than yourselves rather than being needlessly spiteful to a complete stranger. "Oh, grow up" yourselves and ditch the attitude.
Would rather have the option to buy lossless digital files though (I already have the CD boxset).
@N00BiSH : The CD soundtrack gave me a better appreciation of just how great the game's music is. It's so seamlessly woven into the experience that it seems that most take it for granted. Well worth the money.
Wow, that is indeed very expensive (AU$108), but that's the same price that third parties charge (sometimes more!) for their crappy key cards.
I'm not interested in Isaac due to its blasphemous content, but I'll consider the other two games.
I just wish that in cases where a game has a unique Switch 2 build, and isn't merely a "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition", that they throw in the Switch 1 version on the cartridge. God knows there's more than enough room on there for both, and it would take a bit of the sting out of the inflated cost.
I imagine that even many digital enthusiasts would make an exception and go physical for some of these larger games as you're essentially getting a memory card free with purchase (and with microSD Express storage being quite expensive, storage adds an additional expense).
Gen II are still best in show where I'm concerned, despite their post-Johto balancing issues. I loved almost all of the new Pokémon, loved the music, the environments, towns etc., the real-time day and night mechanics (why have more recent games more or less abandoned this?!!!). I simply adore the games so, so much. Unfortunately, the remakes didn't really improve on anything other than the expanded National Dex. It inherited the hideously sluggish Gen IV engine which made them worse games overall, in my opinion, but I adored the PokéWalker accessory, and I'd love to see the likes of it make a return.
There were no outstanding games in Gen III. R/S/E backtracked on too many of Gen II's improvements, the diving mechanic was half-baked with almost no new deep sea Pokémon to justify it, making exploration a tedious chore, when a little more variety could have gone such a long way.
Gen V was the last great generation. It's been such a long time since playing them, and I've only ever seen each game to completion once, unlike Gens I-III that I'd played to death, so I've been yearning for a Gen V remake (or hell, I'll settle for a port repurposed for a single screen) for too long now.
Legends Arceus is far and away the best Pokémon game since Gen V, and by extension the best Pokémon game on Switch. I wish the Pokédex was just a little bigger and that it would get a performance/resolution upgrade for Switch 2, but I love the gameplay loop and exploring its world.
I'm keen on getting ZA eventually, but seeing as they had announced expensive paid DLC before the release of the game, I'm hoping for a physical release with the DLC on the cartridge a la Sw/Sh and S/V. I'll admit it looks a touch embarrassing given the enormity of the Pokémon franchise, the increase in price, and the higher development time, so I'm certainly not expecting it to be quite as good as Legends Arceus before it.
Apparently, the Switch 2 version will be on the cartridge, but it doesn't appear to be a "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" that can be played across both consoles, which would be a pity if true. In such cases where there are two entirely separate builds of a game, it would be nice if they included the Switch 1 build on the cart as a bonus.
Interestingly, all versions of the game appear to be retailing for AU$79.95, except the Switch 2 version, which will be $99.95.
Impressive that the Switch 2 version has sold as many copies as it has relative to the install base.
Frankly, I don't know why they even bother with these ambiguously marketed "Nintendo Switch 2 Editions". They should have better communicated that these Switch 2 releases are capable of running on both generations of hardware (with additional features/content/performance boosts on the newer hardware), and just sold the game as a single SKU.
I get the desire for a cheaper SKU, but I'd have been really annoyed if I had bought the Switch 1 versions of all of these games only to realise later that I could have just bought the Switch 2 copies and essentially had both versions in one (I already got burned with Super Mario Party Jamboree, whose Switch 2 Edition was announced within a week or two of buying iton Switch 1).
I suspect that these will drop in price fairly quickly. There's no way that they'll sell enough quantities at such ludicrous prices. I love the concept, but honestly, what were they thinking? This is borderline alienating to amiibo whales like myself. Casual players wouldn't even give these a second look unless they absolutely must have a figurine of their favourite character(s).
That said though, I think this is a great use of amiibo, and it probably would have been an even better idea to have done this for Mario Kart World instead, which has a significantly larger audience (and a broader cast of characters).
Unfortunately, these figures are much, much too expensive for the young audience that Nintendo seem to be targeting, and to say nothing about the inflated price of the game itself (retailing for AU$30 more than any Kirby game on the Switch 1).
And I'm going to rage if yet another Nintendo-published Switch 2 game gets paid DLC...
Having a more focused game set in a single city would have been the perfect opportunity to flesh out the micro elements with more immersive interactivity (more buildings to enter, more characters to interact with etc.).
In Zelda BOTW/TOTK, the characters are all doing certain things at certain times of the day, and characters would generally retreat to their homes come nightfall. Nothing like that to be had in Lumiose City, apparently, with the same sort of lifeless NPCs that were excusable in an experimental new property designed for a monochromatic handheld in 1996, not quite so much for a multi-billion dollar titan in 2025.
I had also hoped that Let's Go, Pikachu/Eevee would have fleshed out Kanto instead of simply putting a glossy HD/3D coat on paint on 22 year old handheld game design, but apparently poor destitute TPCi/Game Freak aren't capable of any better. Forget voice acting. They weren't even bothered rendering existing 3D assets whenever players interacted with the binoculars in the lookout spots.
I'm still keen on grabbing Legends Z-A eventually, but it's the first game since I had started buying all of the main entry games from Gen IV that I am skipping at launch. Yes, I'll pay AU$110+$45, but not without a full physical release a la Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet. For now, I don't think I'm really missing anything as the game looks like a monumental step down from the excellent Legends Arceus, which actually felt like it was moving the series in the right direction.

Though I do have a tendency to blind-buy games I have an inkling that I'll enjoy, but other than Capcom Arcade Stadium, it's looking pretty bare.
Re: Resident Evil Requiem Pre-Orders Live, Switch 2 Pro Controller And Amiibo Confirmed
@KayFiOS : Negligible character growth from Capcom, but at least it's something. 😅
Re: Resident Evil Requiem Pre-Orders Live, Switch 2 Pro Controller And Amiibo Confirmed
A boxset with three GKCs... 🤦🏻♂️
Re: The Binding Of Isaac Is Heading To Switch 2 With A Full Physical Release
@Elektrogeist1287 : "sEeK tHerApY". Dude, I made one passing remark. What's your damn problem?
At no point had I proselytised or propped myself up as some beacon of impeccable virtue (FYI, good people don't go around professing what good people they are), so again, ditch the crappy attitude and reflect on your own character, which could clearly use some work.
Re: The Binding Of Isaac Is Heading To Switch 2 With A Full Physical Release
@Elektrogeist1287 @DarkTron : A passing comment (one sentence) is what passes for "rambling" these days? 🤨
If either of you possessed an iota of maturity, you'd have understood that perhaps, God forbid, some people have different views and/or values than yourselves rather than being needlessly spiteful to a complete stranger. "Oh, grow up" yourselves and ditch the attitude.
Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Soundtrack Is Scoring A Gorgeous Vinyl Release Next Year
That's... a fair bit cheaper than I expected.
Would rather have the option to buy lossless digital files though (I already have the CD boxset).
@N00BiSH : The CD soundtrack gave me a better appreciation of just how great the game's music is. It's so seamlessly woven into the experience that it seems that most take it for granted. Well worth the money.
Re: The Binding Of Isaac Is Heading To Switch 2 With A Full Physical Release
Wow, that is indeed very expensive (AU$108), but that's the same price that third parties charge (sometimes more!) for their crappy key cards.
I'm not interested in Isaac due to its blasphemous content, but I'll consider the other two games.
I just wish that in cases where a game has a unique Switch 2 build, and isn't merely a "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition", that they throw in the Switch 1 version on the cartridge. God knows there's more than enough room on there for both, and it would take a bit of the sting out of the inflated cost.
Re: PSA: You Might Need To Free Up Some Space For Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment
@YunoboCo : I'm rooting for you (and Yunobo)!
Re: PSA: You Might Need To Free Up Some Space For Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment
I imagine that even many digital enthusiasts would make an exception and go physical for some of these larger games as you're essentially getting a memory card free with purchase (and with microSD Express storage being quite expensive, storage adds an additional expense).
Re: EA Staff Are Reportedly Less Than Happy With Their Much-Hyped AI "Helpers"
Is it any surprise that the kings of copy/pasting games every year would replace their workforce with AI bots?
Re: Review: Two Point Museum (Switch 2) - Probably The Best Game In The Series, But No Mouse Mode?
Forget mouse controls, even touch controls is a huge leap forward for the series on Nintendo platforms.
Hospital/Campus didn't support touch controls at all, which is utter madness and made them unnecessarily frustrating to play.
Re: Best Pokémon Games Of All Time
Gen II are still best in show where I'm concerned, despite their post-Johto balancing issues.
Re: EA Is Diving Headfirst Into Generative AI With New Partnership
As if EA copy/pasting sport games every year wasn't lazy enough...
Re: Bluey Is Going On A New Quest And It's Coming To Switch And Switch 2 In 2026
Apparently, the Switch 2 version will be on the cartridge, but it doesn't appear to be a "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition" that can be played across both consoles, which would be a pity if true. In such cases where there are two entirely separate builds of a game, it would be nice if they included the Switch 1 build on the cart as a bonus.
Interestingly, all versions of the game appear to be retailing for AU$79.95, except the Switch 2 version, which will be $99.95.
Re: Three More Kirby Air Riders amiibo Have Been Announced
@ShieldHero : Phew! AU$300 worth of amiibo is quite enough, thank you!
Re: Japanese Charts: Surprise, Surprise, Pokémon Legends: Z-A Leaves The Competition In The Dust
Re: Three More Kirby Air Riders amiibo Have Been Announced
Re: Opinion: Pokémon Legends Z-A Is The Creepiest Entry Yet, Not In A Good Way
AU$110 game, by the way.
Re: Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road Switch And Switch 2 Docked Performance Revealed, Mouse Mode Confirmed
One would think that it could easily handle 1080p at 60fps in handheld mode if it can handle full 2160p at 60fps in TV mode.
