Rune Factory 5. So good.

Xseed translated Story of Seasons into multiple languages concurrent with the Japanese development of the game. They have effectively proven they can do it. And the upcoming game, Akiba’s Trip, already has the full English Text and Voices on the Japanese copies of the game, so… I don’t get the delay if they’ve been translating at time of development. Currently playing the Japanese copy of RF5 and loving it, but it’s still a bummer to wait even longer when it seems the goal has been to shorten localization

@JasmineDragon Played the original localization on Vita and PS4. Highly enjoyable for the craziness to me. Currently playing the new one (imported from Japan, has english on it already) and I’m liking it. First one (Undead and Undressed) was better in my opinion

Day 1!!!! My only gripe is that they changed Iris’ last name but will buy either way

It’s a great game from my experience and I can’t wait to get off work to get back to my farm. Of course it’s not perfect and I really hope Marvelous makes some QoL changes to the makers, dialogue, festival and overall general performance. But I don’t think I’ve been this hooked since Trio of Towns

@Burning_Spear The biggest ones to keep on hand are lumber and ingots and you should have several at a time unless you don't care about making ample supply at the same time. The others can be kept in storage bin (or not made) until you need them. I currently have 6 lumber makers and 4 ingot makers in addition to other kinds, so it can slow the game down by having so many out at once but I just deal if i need to make a multitude of supplies at once

My copy of Story of Seasons came in early thanks to Xseed so that’s my entire weekend

Story of Seasons is all I care about. Even with some of its flaws, I gave the Japanese version a try and loved what I played. And the recent patches fixed a lot of the loading times already, so they’re getting my money again.

Day 1 for this and Rune Factory (i will say I wish we’d gotten the same art style of RF5 but can’t win em all)

@COVIDberry I have played Stardew and while it has its charms and is more robust in features/content, I would say I’m more fond of Story of Seasons and Rune Factory. I think SoS could take a bit more from SV’s book given it’s the older series and should become a bit more on the modern side content-wise, and it wouldn’t hurt if the same level of detail RF5 is getting was also given to PoOT but alas, can’t have it all...

@Ryu_Niiyama I’ve been playing a Japanese copy and it’s been great. Of course the loading could be improved and some other QoL choices but otherwise, I’ve been having a great time. Trying not to get too deep so I can enjoy it all over again when it releases in the West

Imported a Japanese copy of Story of Seasons to give it a run before official western release, also going to start up my copy of Bravely Default 2 tonight

Day 1 even though the character models in the game feel far less charming compared to the 3DS games.

Day 1! Still have the localized Vita game that was the sequel. Hope that gets ported at some point to switch as well

Been playing Immortals Fenyx Rising since this morning and it is amazing!

Day 1 for me. I don’t care if it is a shameless rip-off, I love open world games and it’s a major bonus when the game allows me to make my own character and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Gold Edition for the Switch and regular edition for the PS5

Hyrule Warriors for me. Got the Japan special edition inbound and picking up a US copy tomorrow along with the amiibo

Can’t wait! Got the Gold Edition that comes bundled with the season pass. Just wish they had the same for the PS5

@TG16_IS_BAE No, it’s a new game. Check some videos out of the gameplay and see for yourself but it’s a blend of muramasa rebirth and farming and looks not only pretty but fairly intricate, especially given ot is a game made by just two people

Wish we’d get info on Bravely Default 2 unless it got delayed beyond its vague 2020 release (ready to snap up whatever CE they make). And, it’s beating a dead horse but, I’d like to know about Bayo 3

Wish there were some measure of update on Yo-kai Watch 4 for the West. Haven’t heard a thing since it was confirmed for localization at Anime Expo last Summer. I wonder if they were waiting to have all the DLC content come out first to make it comprehensive like 3 was. And since the West essentially gave up on the medals after YW2, they’re probably seeking to make it like Snack World where there’s no external mechanic with the toys.

One thing I wish they would do with 4 for the West would be to treat it almost like a reboot and do away with the ridiculous westernization of the clearly Japanese influences of the game as had been done in all the prior games. But the chance of that is super low given returning characters from 1-3 and how much it’s still aimed at younger audiences (even though Shadowside was meant for older audiences) And it makes me hope we’d get some localized form of Shadowside and the movie for clarity on the newer characters and their respective worlds/times

@shaneoh For the time period this show falls in, it would not be. That stuff, detestable as it may be, was fairly commonplace so the show simply portrayed something accurate. And media portrayals shouldn’t be restricted just because the subject matter is uncomfortable, at least not within reason

I was sold the second they said this is a continuation while using my same save data. Sorry, but one thing I hated about the old third versions/sequels was the requirement to start the story over from the beginning just for a couple minor updated features and pokemon which I paid the full price of a game for. This means no trudging through the full story again for me or my kids. Just pay for a meaty 2 part expansion pass and keep going.

Thank you for such a detailed review that covers both the good and the not-so-good of the upcoming games. It’s nice to see all the points laid out without leaning too far one way or the other and it only further cements my hype to give these games a go for myself. My kids, hubby and I are likely going to enjoy this new adventure together a ton!

It’s likely due to the numerous death threats and harassment Masuda and Ohmori have received. It’s foolish how many have been up in arms over video games as if they’re life or death.... Square Enix had to cancel an event due to threats to the management staff and a man was arrested for threatening to repeat the arson incident (Kyoto Animation) at Square Enix headquarters... It’s all fine and dandy to be upset about some of the choices made to the games but it’s really not that damn serious to go around threatening and harassing the developers over

Got mine from Amazon Japan on Monday. My US one shipped today, so waiting on that
