We're now entering the second half of the year and following the E3 2021 Nintendo Direct presentation, Switch owners have a much better idea what they've got to look forward to over the coming months.
If you're looking to pencil in some big names in your July and August gaming diary, below we've picked out a handful of the biggest releases coming to Switch over the next couple of months. Underneath these juicy physical treats you'll also find a whole selection of other games — often physical releases for previously digital-only Switch eShop games — to peruse and consider, plus a bunch of sweet Switch accessories and related peripherals you might want to consider to get you though the mid-year months.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin - 9th July
Monster Hunter Rise isn't the only new entry in Capcom's series coming to Switch in 2021. Nope, portable spin-off Monster Hunter Stories is getting a Switch-based sequel, too.
Adopting the same art style seen in the 3DS original, Monster Hunter Stories 2 will feature a strong narrative focus, and will presumably retain the simple RPG mechanics the sub-series is known for. The protagonist, Monster Rider, befriends monsters from the series rather than slaying them to make a tail feather cap, so it'll offer a different flavour of Monster Hunter-y goodness alongside the more traditional entries on Switch.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD - 16th July
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD brings the bespoke Wii entry in the series back with a high definition lick of paint, plus newly integrated stick-based swordplay as an optional alternative to the original gyro controls.
While this game's slow start, compartmentalised world and requisite motion controls (not to mention Fi's constant barrage of tips and advice) weren't everyone's cup of tea, we have very warm memories of our time with the ten-year-old game and we can't wait to see how this Switch version compares.
Neo: The World Ends With You - 27th July
This upcoming sequel to DS classic The World Ends With You was a real surprise when it was first revealed by Square Enix last November, but a very welcome one. We got a Switch version of the original in the form of The World Ends With You: Final Remix, which was great, although it always felt like the game worked better on DS. We¡re eager to see how this new game works on a system it's designed for from the ground up.
We got some hands on time with the game recently, so check out our first impressions of NEO: The World Ends With You if you can't wait to find out more until it launches on Switch at the end of July.
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles - 27th July
Finally arriving in the West after debuting in Japan on 3DS waaay back in 2015!, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles compiles both Capcom's first and second games in this throwback series which sees you take on the role of Phoenix Wright's ancestor, Ryunosuke Naruhodo as he travels to Victorian London and comes face to face with the World's Greatest Detective. No, not Batman — we're talking, of course, about... er, Herlock Sholmes.
Capcom didn't want to incur the wrath of the Arthur Conan Doyle estate, it seems. Fans of the Phoenix Wright series won't want to miss out on this one, and the Japanese originals were apparently excellent, so the decision whether or not to pick this up should be elementary, my dear Jotson.
No More Heroes III (Switch) - 27th August
Originally slated for a 2020 release, as with so many games No More Heroes 3 got pushed into this year. We've enjoyed both of Travis Touchdown's original Wii games on Switch in the meantime, and we also enjoyed the Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes side-story, but this sequel looks set to deliver the full porcelain-throned, laser-sworded Touchdown experience.
Suda51's third chapter in the NMH trilogy is coming at the end of August.
More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games
Aside from the highlighted games above, there are lots more Switch retail games which might take your fancy in July and beyond.
Awesome Accessories For Your Switch
And finally here are a selection of the finest Switch accessories coming up in July and beyond, for your consideration.
So that's it for July and August - did we miss anything? Let us know with a comment and also tell us if you've pre-ordered any of these goodies!

Some great games coming (and I do have my eye on that crash switch case!!), but at the moment will be golfing until the 16th of July when I take flight to skyloft...... Any news on TMNT Shredders Revenge yet?? Just noticed crius'n blast aswell, ooops may have to dip into the christmas savings!
I'll definitely be getting...
There's a few others that I'm interested in like Cris Tales but the list is already getting a bit out of control.
Pretty much just making sure my amiibo preorders are taken care of first. I’ll buy games again in Nov. Slowly filling my play asia and best buy carts for BF.
That being said I do have monster hunter stories, GAA, Ys XI and power rangers on preorder (don’t want this one really but there are no new super sentai games and I hear it is a decent fighter if you turn the volume down).
Really looking forward to MHS2 and Skyward Sword in not blurry
The games that i have interest about: 😀
1. Kitaria Fables 🇮🇩
2. Key We
But the game that really surprising me :

😲😲😲😃😃😃
After 11 years waiting, there is a Boxing game on Nintendo Switch (and PS4). 😭
This feels a lot like Sept. 2019, where there was just a ton of stuff I was interested in launching at once.
Wow what a killer line up!!!
MH stories 2, ace attorney, NEO (probably), Ys IX and Cris Tales for me .
5 games... Expensive month!
Anyone knows if King's Bounty will be all on the cart?
@Ralizah oh boy, Sept 2019 brings back some memories. You're right though, this July really does have a similarly packed release schedule.
Farmers vs Zombies. lol.
The major developers must still be struggling with AAA title development due to COVID and WFH. Hopefully there are some big titles in the works still waiting to be announced.
July: MHS2, GAC, YS IX, NEO: TWEWY, AT: H&B. Hoping I can find the Skyward Sword joycons and amiibo in store on launch day. MH2 amiibo secured via Amazon Japan
August: DDLCP Physical edition.
There are so many good games this month. Id love to support Blaster Master buying the physical copy but money hurts right now. I gotta get Zelda, Twewy and Ys though
We are truly in the golden age of third party controllers.
Gone are the days of getting stuck with the madcatz because you lost at rock-paper-scissors.
Wow, Colors Live with a pen!
Man, July alone is stacked! Not to mention the rest of the year.
Skyward Sword and Ys IX are the two big ones for me in July. Also interested in Ace Attorney, NEO etc. too.
I preordered a physical copy of Cris Tales 16 months ago, very excited to be getting that this month. As well as Spiritfarer. I also just got in Sakuna and Blue Fire physical copies this week. Going to be a good summer for some Indie Games.
purchased the deluxe edition of the silver case primarily because i wanna delve deeper into the Sudaverse and I love Masafumi Takada's music to death
I'm only getting the basic Skyward Sword HD Game, this month. I was too slow in getting the Skyward Sword Joy-Cons, and I had to save $15 by buying an amiibo Card from Etsy. I am not now, nor have I ever been Sonic the Hedgehog, but I DID pre-order Sonic Colors Ultimate, so I will pay for that after the Encyclo-Speed-Ia Deluxe Edition!
Ace Attorney is the only potential game for me. It’s a very strong maybe for me.
Well, that's a clear case of Too Much Didn't Buy.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin. The demo had me hooked for several hours, but gameplay wise it was kind of repetitive and full price is just too much. I'll wait, and I'm not really sure... I've stopped playing mainline Monster Hunter, but this feels different, yet still not entirely... "ok".
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD I have pre-ordered to get that steelbook, but the store is doing a trade in deal, and I happen to have a game on the list that I don't play anymore and won't miss, making it €25, and with their points system I'll get a €7,5 coupon for a next purchace. That's a decent price.
Neo: The World Ends With You... Kind of the same as with MHS. I loved the previous game, played the demo, and felt a bit... bored throughout. I enjoyed it, but not all that much. At a discount.
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles: I really want this one, and I don't think Europe is getting a physical release but I'm thinking of getting a US copy, there's several stores that already have it listed as an import game.
No More Heroes III is a must. I hope to se a trilogy release though...
The Silver Case 2425. Everything SUDA51 touches is silver. Rarely GOLD, but almost always "one of the best flawed games ever".
Cris Tales looks beautiful, and I was kind of surprised by the demo.
Foreclosed looks interesting. I'll wait for reviews.
Hoa looks beautiful judging by the cover, but judging by the link it has no physical EU release?
Rico London... I enjoyed Rico, when it didn't crash, or otherwise made it actually impossible to complete a session. Reviews.
Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. Still need to complete the first game, but when I do, I may look into getting this one on sale.
Tails of Iron, never heard of, but it caught my eye.
All have my attention when scrolling through the list. That's quite a lot too much. And some rather divided attention anyways. To be honest, Advance Wars is taking allthe steam from my hype train, massive fan of the series, and currently replaying the first GBA game.
⚡Power Rangers: BFTG is what I'm looking forward to, even though I have already bought it TWICE in the retail release, the Limited Run release and I have all the DLC.
How did I not know about Spacebase Startopia?! Startopia was a great spacebase simulation game from 2001.
Pre-ordered the purple Retrobit N64 controller. Have a Power A wireless GameCube, and now I'll have a wireless N64 too. Good for both the consoles and my Mac, so win win.
Skyward Sword
MH Stories 2
Ys IX
No More Heroes 3
Neo: The World Ends With You
The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles
A lot there for me that are insta-buys. Also, Cotton Reboot!
I remember when summer was a slow time for gaming.
Just why all these good games release on july 😂
YS IX down the road but for sure I'm getting Skyward Sword and Blaster Master Z3
Finally a date and physical release for UK Crusin Blast!
