@Peace-Boy Ooooh! Ok, gotcha. Sorry for being so dense, but everytime I was oing to User ID, I'd get the email code then it was taking me to change my password and I'm like, "But I don't want to change my password"
So is the account different from our current NNID? Do I have to create a new one specificially for the Switch or is my 3DS NNID going to work just fine?
My kids and I are ready for February 3rd! We loved the Wii U version but to me portable versions of console games, whether they suffer a graphical downgrade or not, are the best if pulled off right. The Switch will be my primary home system in my room (gotta deem if it'll be worth the expenditure for an additional four units for each of my kids by Summer) but I don't see it not being taken places t with me even though my 3DS and Vita have a swath of games to keep me busy as is
Excellent article. I am getting a Switch come Day-1, however... What might have very well been something I'd have gotten for each of my (4) kids (all have their own rooms and tvs and personal tastes) and myself has turned into a 1-unit purchase which is likely going to be simply for myself to test out until Summer (Splatoon 2 releases then) or the holiday season when Mario releases to determine if it will truly be worth the additional expenditure for the kids. My kids and I still avidly play our 3DS systems and Wii U and other vintage Nintendo systems and handhelds, but the Switch makes me pause as I need to know it will be a worthwhile investment to shell out what will equate to $1200 USD before games are even factored in. I already have plenty of titles to be interested in but my kids are far more finicky. None were interested in 1,2 Switch (a game that might've been good for them to play with friends) and many of the other early offering don't hold their appeal. They want Splatoon 2 and Mario. They said they were fine with Fire Emblem Warriors on their 3DS systems and they already have Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U to play together, so this makes me think twice now. And don't get me started on the system's extra accessories...
@Anti-Matter Yeah. I've always been into traditional and pop culture from Japan so as an anime/gaming fabatic (along with my husband), we're heavily into attending/working for anime conventions and cosplay, so the kids have inherited that passion from us
My kids and I each got Z-Rings the day Pokemon Sun and Moon came out. Kids love it a lot and I find it cute when I'm playing and using z-moves in the games. Since we're also a cosplaying family since I work for an anime convention, it will be great for our Sun and Moon cosplays in February (my kids will dress as their respective trainers they made in their games and I will be Olivia on one day and my trainer another).
Awesome! Can't wait to head to Nintendo NYC for the midnight launch. But I'll likely be playing the game on my Japanese region N3DS while standing in line starting Thursday since Japan is 14hours ahead and their eshop should update for the preloads of the games around 10am EST Either way, my hype cannot be curbed!
Is it Wednesday yet? My kids and I will be heading up that night to Nintendo NYC for the midnight launch. We'll be outside all day, Thursday, our 3DSs charged and ready to play on the ride back down to DC on the train after our games have been purchased
True. It is already confirmed that the Switch is single screen only and it's very evident that 3DS support will be going for a good while. So unless their next truly dedicated handheld goes single screen (something I think would end up being less than well-received for games like Pokemon or other games that have benefited from dual-screen gaming), calling the Switch the successor of the 3DS is major bs. We've confirmation as well that WiiU/3DS won't be backwards compatibIe physically and, with a single screen, it's practically inconceivable that they'd be digitally compatible unless the developers went back to completely reformat/recode older titles that use both screen. And if that is done, I highly doubt we'd just get those "free". I certainly can see GameFreak/The Pokemon Company doing something decent with the Switch but highly doubt even hey would find it practical for the main line games after so very long with dual screen capabilities. Sure, we had only one screen during the days of the GB/GBC/GBA/GBASP but the revolutionary steps taken when the DS came into existence changed how the experience tremendously for the series.
Yeah, this and Ace Attorney were my top picks to hear about since they come out this month. The kids and I are super excited. Hope we get a definitive date for the demo. I've played all the games but even though I know Japanese, it'll still be fun to play again in my native English and see how my kids like the sequels since they loved the first game.
The beginning kiiiinda recounts some of the earlier parts of the first game and then it moves on to the meat of the game story. It definitely is even more enjoyable than the first game
@Okumei This! Really hoping the smaller Black N3DS (even if only in a bundle) comes Stateside. I have the N3DSXL but the smaller one (after having imported from Japan when we had no idea when the New models were coming) is great for extended playing while lying in bed or on the couch as it doesn't weigh on the hands/wrists so much when holding it up over your face. Love my XL but the smaller model is great. Faceplates are icing on the cake.
Ace Attorney, Yokai Watch 2, Dragon Quest VII and Pokemon are the biggest things I see getting coverage during the Nintendo Direct, especially YW2, DQ7 and AA since those release in September. Perhaps we'll also see more stuff revolving around Disney Magical World 2, Dragon Quest VIII, and Shin Megami Tensei. But a surpise announcement or two (Monster Hunter Stories, Theatrhythm Dragon Quest, etc) would be nice too.
Ah! Understood. Well hopefully Sun and Moon are that final push to get you to actually play. My entire family and I are looking forward to the games. Even put in to take Thursday through Saturday off when they come out so we can go to Nintendo World for the launch party like we did for X/Y and Yokai Watch.
I've noticed this as well. I had lost my copy of X and repurchased it so I could get the distributed legendaries and I started playing the game again but I didn't feel all too motivated the way I did when X and Y first came out. I didn't go about exploring the way I did, I caught pretty much a bare minimum of pokemon as I went through the story... I suppose it stems from knowing what's going to happen already.
I can't speak for anyone's reasons but my own so, here goes:
I personally am not fond of online play in games, even when it's relegated solely to myself and my family (children and husband). Now, if I have something in the Pokemon games my kids can't seem to get on their own, I will do trading and the occasional battle (Battle Royal might end up with me using online more) but more often than not my kids just battle and trade between each other.
My husband has no desire really to trade unless we make it worth each other's while, so we don't do trades or battles (exception being if he finds something I haven't and vice versa and we have an extra).
Also, I'm a completionist when it comes to maintaining my gaming libraries. If I have an ongoing series, I make sure I have everything. Ace Attorney as an example: I have all the games, main and spin-off. However, since some games were not localized or are digital only, I import to keep my collection complete.
I have plenty of my college buddies that play Pokemon and online games, but I generally prefer playing my handheld games on my own.
4 kids = 2 copies of each version (they decided which versions they wanted), both versions for me and my husband and also importing both versions from Japan along with the Sun and Moon XL and we're all getting Z-Rings and Crystals (except my husband)
@Kid_Sickarus I know that feeling. Waaaay too many electronics in our house between myself, my husband and 4 kids. But there's fun to be had with them and it keeps the peace that everyone has their own stuff
@Kid_Sickarus It's the precedent. Point is, a lot of people didn't bat an eye when it came to the Pokemon Go Plus (yes, there were a fair number that weren't happy with the peice) but a $30 toy that syncs with a full Pokemon game is outrageous and a clunky shameless cash grab. The toy serves more function as a roleplay piece in addition to reacting to the game than the Go Plus which simply straps to one's belt or wrist so they don't have to look at their phone for Go in my opinion. I'm not knocking those that choose either or, however I think it's silly that many complain about the functionality/design/price of something that is clearly optional on one thing but will rush out and pay for something else that essentially falls into the same category.
Wait... People are complaining about the $30 pricetag... But had no problem spending $35 for an optional add-on accessory for a free mobile app? I fail to see the logic
@rjejr I'm hoping we'll get the storage book/case like Japan is getting. Was hoping we'd get that starter set but maybe it'll be sold separately. I did order the Japanese starter bundle from Amazon Japan since I wasn't sure if their version had to connect to the Japanese region games/systems or if they were region-free (I have a Japanese system and will have the games in both regions)
@Porky It's a toy. Same can be said of any toy a kid gets. But as I said on another article, I collect things like this and play with them. My kids also play with their stuff far longer than a week or two. Part of it stems from them having active imaginations like their mom. Not to mention we're a cosplay and gaming family as well.

Seriously, with all this greatness in Sun and Moon, I don't know how much longer I can hold out until November! Vulpix and Ninetales ook absolutely stunning
But he wasn't fired on a whim. He engaged in misconduct that would be detrimental to his employer. An employer has every right to protect their assests at all costs.
By the way, reaching a settlement doesn't automatically concede wrongdoing. It's all about reducing cost. Just like Police Departments that settle in wrongful death situations. Your personal experience is not everyone's experience.
A settlement means nothing. It is simply cheaper to keep from being taken to court. His words are the proof and he said that he was the smartest in the company and their IQs would drop once he left. In his case, he dug his own grave by serving the evidence on a silver platter
But @Kirk, you've been continually spouting off at the mouth about "his right to say and post" whatever. No job, inside or out of America, is obligated to keep you on if you tarnish the company's image. His post got back to his employers and he was canned for it. Add that he insulted Singapore as a whole, well...he has no leg to stand on in his defense. And it was all the more amusing that he tried to say it was a racial issue that got him fired
