Mixed emotions. Will be sad to see our last major video game retailer leave the high street, but GAME does need to buck its ideas up. Maybe the business model just isn't relevant anymore. My local GAME has switch stock. However, more space is given to second hand 360 games....
I've seen some commenters mention the persistent online element of the game possibly being the issue. If that proves to be true, could this also be behind Monster Hunter World skipping the platform. Just thinking - it may not be a graphics issue.
This shouldn't even be an issue nowadays. I hope the reason we haven't heard more about paid online is because they are still ironing out elements of the service. This could be one of those elements?
@Vee_Flames Or you could just connect the headset to the controller, like the other consoles. This whole phone thing is awful. I'm not up to scratch on my Nintendo policies, but is this to act as a blocker to children using voicechat? What about older children, or even adults without a smartphone? Why have this hurdle to communicate...and then have the audacity to charge for it in 2018. Oh yea, its only $20 so we should all feel humbled. Screw that.
@Cosats Erm no thanks. If you see it as moaning, that's a shame. My points are my subjective view on unsubstantiated rumours mentioned on this website. If we aren't allowed to talk about them, then what's the point of a comments section?
@arpaktiko I read the article. Yes, its an unsubstantiated rumour. Bet you if it was a positive rumour, you'd be all over it. It's nice to consider what could be, rather than what is. That's kind of part of the excitement of E3. Rumour has it, Nintendo will knock it out of the park this year, but maybe I should nay say that as well?
@Anti-Matter Yes. I'm excited to see how it will pan out. Would prefer a new entry from Capcom. Between this news and the Street Fighter 2 port, I'm kind of done with being expected to lap up overpriced ports and be grateful for it. There are better things to spend my money on.
@westman98 You're right. We still don't know if this rumour is legit. For Nintendo, I hope it isn't. For all gamers, I hope it is. Thanks for the reminder of the 3DS MH history.
@Anti-Matter Not at all. This is a port of an old 3DS game. In fact, the future looks worse for Nintendo with Sony muscling in on the next main entry. Why is any of this positive?
Edit: This is positive to gamers, of course, just not Nintendo.
Like other posters have mentioned, the dev was just being polite. I believe the real reasons to be power and sales related. Understandable on both counts. The other consoles will run pretty much the same game. Developing the game for switch will probably take far too long, with little return (if some of the commenters on here give an accurate representation of the Switch userbase).
Comparing this game's single player element to SFV isn't doing ARMS any favours, being that SFV was the absolute worst content-wise. This is arcade mode, which is lacklustre when compared to nearly every other major fighter out there. Soul Calibre, Tekken and even Dead or Alive are more suitable reference point as to where a fighting game needs to be in terms of content.
This is great news. Hopefully we will see this gain more traction in the coming months. More games, more interest, more buyers, more investment, bigger (more bespoke) games.
I think the sheer amount of good games released this year across all consoles has diluted the sales for each. For example, I am still playing Nioh, although if that hadn't released when it did, I may have picked up Horizon or Persona 5. I fully expect both of these games to be charting long into the year, albeit in lower positions as people catch up with the backlog. The Switch situation is different, with big games being few and far between.
Just been into GAME and the Switch version of Puyo Puyo Tetris is £17 more expensive than the PS4 version, which looks awful when they are literally next to each other on the new release shelves. Sad times.
Not for me, but hope it gets released on the Switch. Reading this comment section reminds me of the discussion on whether Switch should have achievements or not.
@sillygostly It wasn't mentioned in the review and haven't seen it mentioned anywhere. There were also rumours about how only it was only 2 people per switch console. Had to search neogaf to confirm just now. Thanks for confirming through (now happy!)
@ThePoochyKid Not you again. Another two commenters have replied to my comment with actual reasoning. Yours continually rely on rhetorical questioning and posturing. Thanks, but no thanks.
These reviews are a little harsh IMO. This is exactly what the developers set out to achieve. Of course mechanics etc... have moved on. Not one to bash on reviewers, but why do 2D platformers get a free pass?
@ThePoochyKid I took a look at the sales figures across the board. The uplift in Japan is promising but has still been outsold by the Wii U. The software line up is anaemic and the console is significantly underpowered in comparison to the competition. The console is held up by Nintendo first party titles which are very sparsely littered throughout the year and the main gimmick is a second screen. Off course, the Switch is fully portable whilst the Wii U gamepad was limited to the home. Online is gimped and no trophy system has been implemented. It's just my opinion of course, but my points can't be way off the mark.
So far, apart from improved buzz due to portability, this has been pretty much the Wii U all over again. It's only been a month and people are already worried. Sorry, but early adopters deserve more from Nintendo. Cashing into a potential second failed system won't feel good.
@Skunkfish Just been into GAME. In addition to the four (Bomberman OOS at the moment apparently), there are four pre-order boxes for ARMS, Mario Kart 8, Splatoon 2 and Lego City. Agreed that there are many games out and coming online..it's just communicating that to the general masses.

Are people willing to pay $55 for either of these! I, personally, would pay around £7.99 and that's being generous.

The original game boy is also now a hybrid console, although it lacks the grunt of the PS4/XBOXONE.

Frustrating that a retailer can have exclusivity of a title. We want as many consumers as possible to see the range of games available for the Switch!

Certainly as expected. Surprised to see Payday 2 in there. Disappointed that (so far) the Kirby Anniversary amounts to eshop releases of old games.

ARMS/Splatoon 2/MK8 and done.
