Whilst Microsoft continues with their no console gets left behind strategy, the Scorpio will most likely perform in line with similar offerings - like the PS4 Pro. Would be interested to understand his view on when we will see the PS5...don't think we're too far away.
I am certainly interested in the Switch. It has so much potential. For me to jump in I would like to see a more premium option with more storage, a glass screen and small hardware issues fixed, obviously more games with no droughts in between and a trophy system patched into all games when online becomes fee to play. Overall, it's out and most people are happy. Great news!
Snakes Pass looks great. Really innovative control scheme. Not sure I will have time to pick it up with Persona 5 and Yooka Laylee on the horizon. Maybe later : )
Not sure I understand the point of these articles on a Nintendo site. PS4 will always look better. This game isn't really demanding at all, so a little embarrassing that there isn't more parity between the versions.
With Zelda and Mario Kart on the way, at least we have the Wii U virtual console at launch...in all seriousness though, I would love to see Animal Crossing and Phantasy Star Online 2!! pleaaaaase
Just as JonTron has the right to a personal opinion, so does Playtonic. The end. The worst thing here is that it's become new worthy. What going on NL? No Neo Geo releases today?
@akaDv8R I can't even pretend to dictate to your what the definition of decent game is. Personal, of course! What I can say, is that 27 games were released on the PS4 in the first couple of months. Got bored counting first year! Link below.
I agree that gameplay trumps graphics, but aside from portability the Switch has also offered nothing new so far. Until we get to Splatoon 2 and new Mario everything is recycled.
Positive Spin: Switch only has four games on the market (retail). 25% in the top 10!
Negative Spin: Zelda was basically a pack in title for a system launch. Everyone pretty much had to buy it to play something decent on their new console.
Can't wait to see what plans Nintendo have for the Switch! My main concern at the moment is that there will only be four games on the shelves until the end of April. I don't think I have ever seen that before. Whilst Nintendo is doing well getting digital support in the form of indies (no way I'm writing *indies), this is invisible to the regular consumer. Who would dish out all that coin for four games?! I think waiting until E3 would be a mistake. I would like to see Nintendo have one of those online treehouse things and show their hand. I guess if Nintendo doesn't go all out at E3, we can then just roll out the "hard launch" argument for the holiday season.
@theinstruct0r What! Near enough every game on the Switch is a port. Also, if Nintendo equates quality to games like 1-2-Switch and Bomberman R then I'm done.
Happy to hear this doesn't effect everyone. However, why are there so many comments sticking up for Nintendo? I just don't get this style of group think! They released faulty hardware that is negatively effecting quite a large portion of their consumer base. It is their duty to offer refunds and sort this out.
@Sinton I'm sure it will : ) I would like to see the switch do well and hope to see it have a rich library of games. If it doesn't, however, I hope that Nintendo will address consumer issues with it's next console
There will be one more Switch in the wild. Sadly cancelled my preorder today. Will keep my ear to the ground to see what happens in the world on Nintendo. At this point in time, it's just not worth it in my opinion.
@WiltonRoots I'm referring to the Wii U Port of Zelda. If we take the PS4 port of The Last of Us which was released at the beginning of the consoles lifecycle, that managed 60 fps at 1080p in 2013! Zelda can't manage a stable 30 fps at 900p in 2017. That's where my concern is coming from.
@Alexprime Reviews are important in forming a rounded opinion. That's how people make informed decisions. The bit people sometimes don't do is to take multiple reviews into account. By the way, calling people immature kids just worked against you. A lot of the people on here are probably older than you, including myself. If you are buying the Switch, all the power to you. Will look forward to your take on the system.
This system is a farce. Underpowered for a home console and short on power/portability for a handheld. Coupled with the cheap screen, other dubious design choices and poor game line up I am unsure about ponying up Day 1. I'm only negative as I'm upset. Ridiculous that a company can "let me down", but there we go. I can't justify the price for a Zelda machine until the Wii U port of MK8 arrives....
Well done for reaching such a low file size, however I don't want to be worried about storage space before the system even releases. The fact this is a headline is sad.
Tend to rate my purchases at a £/HR regardless of whether I complete them or not. So for me, shorter games can still outlast longer games in this regard if I stop playing the latter before completion. Helps me decide if I want to pony up for a sequel.
I went to the Birmingham event. Played Zelda, Mario Kart and 1-2 Switch. Zelda ran smooth and will be as expected. Looks like a larger focus on loot and cooking, with enemies dropping ingredients and clothing items able to be mixed and matched. Mario Kart was Mario Kart, but worked well over 8 Player LAN with four additional bots.
The HD rumble was excellent. Played the marble guessing game. What sold me on it was when sliding the "marbles" to one end of the joycon, you could gently shake them to make them jump up again, as if you were holding a tube of marbles vertically. Pretty decent. Overall, no surprises. If you didn't make it to one of these, you are probably no less clued up.
@PikaPlayz Thanks. That's a bit more of a considered response. I preordered a long time back hoping we would know more leading up to release. This hasn't happened so would like to just wait a little before I damage my wallet. It's exciting buying Day 1. Great stuff!
@PikaPlayz It's part of the bigger picture for me. I would really like to own one console with all the games I want to play on it, including Nintendo games which I adore. I'm honestly not looking to argue on a games forum. If you disagree, I completely accept that. The rumours of a new dock for the system brings me hope that we may eventually see full support. Anyway, have a good day. Hope I didn't annoy people too much.
@patbacknitro18 I own a PS4 so most of those games I can already purchase. Also, don't think third parties are bending over backwards to support the Switch...stretching the truth a little there.
@patbacknitro18 @PikaPlayz Argh. I knew this was going to happen! My choice I guess. Don't worry, there will be plenty for you : )
Edit: My reasons are lack of games, no details for online (what details there are sound awful), nothing on virtual console, nothing on trophy support and not much from third parties so far. Completely understand some of this is subjective, so don't expect to influence anyone else's opinion. Like I said, will likely cancel my pre-order and pick up later when we know where the chips will fall.
I don't understand what Nintendo are up to. Why are we learning all this from leaks?! They need to sort their house out, or my pre-order will get cancelled. Not saying I won't buy, but probably wont be day 1 as it stands...please don't hurt me comment section.

It's been a month...still the same four games on the shelves.

There are only four games on the shelves, with the other three being rather meh. If this wasn't the case, it would be more strange.

On the bright side, when we're done with these ports, they have a new port of Street Fighter coming with some Neo Geo ports to fill in the downtime.

PS4 sold a million units in the first 24 hours in North America. Whilst the Switch numbers are good, let's keep a level head.

Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch: Nintendo's Most Important Console Yet
@KirbyTheVampire I agree for a handheld, it is good. Not for a console though. It should really be doing 60 fps.
Re: Hardware Review: Nintendo Switch: Nintendo's Most Important Console Yet
@KirbyTheVampire When it can't run a Wii U port on screen at more than 30 fps then it does become an issue. I'm sorry, it just does.
