In a recent Cat Mario video published on Nintendo's Japanese YouTube channel, it was revealed that The Gentlebros Games' Cat Quest would be clawing its way to the Switch eShop in the foreseeable future.
For those not in the know, Cat Quest is a 2d Open World RPG set in the fantastic and wonderful world of cats. Playing as a cat-venturer you will explore a massive continent crafted in the unique style of tapestry. You'll get to enjoy the good old days of exploring an overworld map as you raid dungeons for epic loot, complete quests and meet the many furry denizens of this world. Sounds like fun whether you like cats or not.

Perhaps I can trick my girlfriend into paying for this so she can play "the cat game"
Noticed a lot of indie games coming that weren't part of the Nindie showcase while the Nindie showcase titles are missing.
Why bother doing that showcase?
Clearly stuck waiting for Celeste, Sine Mora, Pocket Rumble etc... etc... etc... for much longer.
Looks interesting. I like the overworld exploration aspect.
Sorry, I'll pass. Seems like another mediocre.
Zzzzzzz...
Seems pretty cool. Multiplayer perhaps?
Still not uesd to see new games coming to Nintendo console left and right, lol. Quite a contrary to what happened in wiiu era.
NOOOOOOO
@Nik-Davies
I like your way of thinking
Nah...
Looks mediocre.
Quite the Cat-alogue of games coming o_0
Hmm, I'm a little worried about how small the player sprite is. Maybe it's because I'm watching it on a mobile phone, but it feels … not right? Maybe it's because of all the negative space? Often a game like this will have a small player sprite, that is overwhelmed by vaste amounts of enemies, or giant enemies; or uses a larger player sprite, with fewer enemies.
It gives the appearance of an over world map in an RPG, which is where you want to see the world around you as much as possible, but details are not important, since no actual combat takes place there. But this has the combat taking place where it is difficult to see fine details. So, I think I'm worried that the small character sprite will make a deep/satisfying combat system difficult to use, especially on the Switch's screen.
But I'll keep an eye out for it.
Another interesting indie! Looking forward to it to discover more about it!
Generic mobile trash. Add Steam into the equation you've got a steaming pile of trash.
CATastrophic!
I am glad that people are trying to make games that have different visual cues instead of grizzly middle aged dudes again. I was starting to miss the 90s and the early 00's again. (I'm serious, gaming has gotten really cookie cutter for protagonists....it is enough to make you miss licensed material)
Looks interesting. I played one of there games on Android which was quite enjoyable. So I expect this to be quite good.
@LemonSlice Can't we finally move past the 'everything on mobile is poop' trope?
Best regards,
a former mobile dev
@Rebusmind I'm glad you got off the dark path.
I actually think this looks pretty cool, but I've been following Cat Quest's progress as an iOS game rather than for Switch. If there's big disparity in pricing, this won't be a Nintendo purchase from me.
Looks like a flash game.
If this turns out to be good I'll get it when I get my Switch.
This looks like one of the games on a website or one of the cheap discount steam games, but still might get it
That looks cute.
Looks strangely slow-paced for a game starring cats.
If it's priced right and co op enabled I'll get it for my wife and I to play. A fun dungeon crawler multiplayer like Secret of Mana is always welcome.
Sounds mediocre, even less.
Needs to hit the sweet spot of 7.99 - 9.99 to succeed, methinks. And why do people instantly scoff at a game that features vector art? I think this looks quite polished and painterly. Reminds me of the Mouse Guard comic series, if anyone's read that.
I'm feline pretty stoked about this.
Interesting design
Looks cute.
Looks pretty boring to me and I'm a cat lover.
Kinda cool.
@wazlon are you sure about that lol
I like cats and i like adventures. I'm in. Hook line and sinker.
Im sure it will won't be purrrfect but I will try it when it launches.
NOPE
@Dazza Why you wrote 2D World? Is the movement constrained on a given direction?
I liked the music.
I think my wife will like this game.
Meh.
I liked the idea of combat, events and all that stuff happening on an Overworld Map Screen of an RPG... but then there never was a transition to a town. Or a dungeon. Or any other interesting, more detailed area like in every other RPG and action-RPG and action-adventure ever made.
This seems like 1/3rd of the game it needs to be... but they have a great Overworld for that game!
Looks fun and nice graphics. Certain meow sounds make my dog go crazy though.
Not sure about this will see what sort of price it is before deciding
Looks okay.
It's not coming to 3DS so I'm not getting it.
The game looks pretty great! I just hope it has a decent amount of depth to it!
That looks really cool. Hope to see it soon. So many Indie titles being released. Seems like 3 to 5 announced every week for switch. I do like what I'm seeing but I'm also a little worried as third party devs haven't really showed their hands yet. Would love to see an assassins Creed collection and maybe a Hockey game from EA. Square Enix seems to be partially on board but I will eat a bug if they finally port Dragon Quest X which should have been ported to Wii years ago. I think that game alone would have sold Wii systems. It also might have been a good selling point for Wii-U. But we will never know because Nintendo hates online aspects of gaming. I'm expecting them to screw that up again with their upcoming online. I want them to do well I have the systems but it's been years and it's always been a let down. We'll see
