@Balladeer Agree that opinions are there to be challenged, but when one point of view has the means and the audience to pull off a video such as this, it comes off as smug. Now, if there was a counterpoint video also...I wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
@DragonEleven You are reaching if you think LABO and BOTW should be matched in price. I presume you don't believe LABO took anywhere near as long or as much to make as BOTW? By this logic, all games should cost the same.
"whenever this kind of thing happens our video guru Alex like to make toe-curling, smarmy videos putting down people who have differing opinions". Come on. No other single format professional website has this. It's awful.
Monster Hunter fans certainly aren't losing out. Just Nintendo-only fans. I realise not everyone can afford two systems, so in that case, I do feel for you.
Nothing much for 2018. I should wait for the direct. The direct was disappointing. Oh, it was only a mini direct. The proper direct will come in March. Oh, no? Silly me, the games will be announced at E3. Ah, disappointing E3. Why can't I remember that Nintendo announces their games in directs....and the cycle continues.
I've not seen this level of excitement for an E3 or CES. Hope for more, but banking on Wii U port, Neo Geo classics, more indies and a glimpse at something we already know about (Yoshi, Kirby etc...).
@Razer Don't get me wrong. Ports are a great side dish. Just think it's a little sad that they make up part of people's wish lists on a new console. I agree that good games don't become bad due to age (in general).
Unless it's a new Smash game, not interested. Had enough of these Wii U Ports. Same for virtual console and over-priced indies. Would be great to see Nintendo get some quality third party support and maybe an exclusive or so. Also, continue developing new IPs with a nod to their back catalogue of characters. Lots of people have just joined the Switch community...seeing ports of years old games on wishlists may be a little disheartening.
I would like a more focused world with higher attention paid to NPC's, day/night cycles, routines and lots of detail. Dungeons with unique character and highly atmospheric overworld locations. BOTW was impressive with its scope, but as about as deep as a puddle.
£14.19 retail on PS4 through Amazon UK. This is an absolute joke and another shafting of the Switch community. Said this about other recent third parties as well. It does not cost the same to port a game as it does to make it! Stockholm Syndrome of the highest order.
Loved the previous AC games, but the entire concept is based on materialism and debt so no surprise people don't resonate with the core themes sometimes...too close to reality. Now, where's that tree I need to shake?
Spent some of my evening watching let's plays and various impressions videos for this last night. The general impression is that it is an average mobile port, with some of the more try-hard switch channels giving it more positive vibes due to the "nothing like it on the Switch" argument. It looks awful, the arcade controls are a cop-out (arcade controls are still refined. Look at Driveclub) and the races are really short. Distinctly average, which is what a 5 should be. The cheerleaders will say otherwise, but this game is an embarrassment and shouldn't be given a second look at this price. Price should absolutely be part of the review as it is for every other type of consumer goods. When you can buy other ports like Doom and Skyrim (at a still admittedly high price) for the same money, can anyone say with a straight face that this provides the same value for money? Disgusting. Rant over.
Edit: Oh yeah - No online multiplayer (just ghosts) and 30fps with dips (in a racing game!!)
Would have been great to get the game on shelf in Europe if for no other reason than brand awareness. Good for non-Switch owners to see that Resident Evil is on the console.
@Littleeddie Nords have attributes that protect them from cold, high strength and are suited for melee combat which is a little easier going than going full archery/magic. This is just my opinion. Other people may suggest otherwise. I went all archery my first playthrough and was fine until I was battling the stronger dragons. Wished I was more proficient with a good old axe by that point.
@LaVelle Unless the review has been edited super quick, I can only see a link to the detail on where the link garb can be found. Its not in the review.
I think this leaves Switch as a great handheld! Also, although quite often Switch gamers are left with the worst version of multiplats, portability has proved popular.
The first year so far has been excellent. The question is whether that momentum can be held. We have seen next to nothing about 2018. If we haven't, then we can safely assume the casual consumer also hasn't. Hopefully, Nintendo hasn't completely shown their hand too early.
Syberia 1&2 package available for £15 on Amazon (PS3). This is getting silly. We all know why these games are being released. More likely that they will be noticed. Hopefully as the Switch library grows, this issue will become less and less of a thing.
@MysteryCupofJoe Same here. In Generations et al, the first enemies do fight back. I know it doesn't make much of a difference, but wonder why this game goes further to make them solely speed barriers. Seems like a step back to me.
There's an interesting video about the nature of the first enemies in most of the recent 3D sonic games. Force's first adversary's (those robots in the demo) literally just stand there...

Re: Video: Not Everyone Is Pleased With Nintendo Labo
@DragonEleven Didn't want to nit pick you on the price. They are just as expensive as other Nintendo first party games, or more so.

@Ardisan That and the loss of the fabled portability are the only reasons why people should be disappointed.

Out of everything I was looking forward to from Nintendo, this was the most unexpected. Screw online details, I'm set.

@faint I agree. That needs to be the subtitle of every direct related article going forward. It was getting silly.

@faint Had me fooled with the sheer amount of hype being generated around here.

Old ports and a tennis game.
