Re: Video: 11 Reviews for Super Mario Odyssey that Are So Bad They're Good

You will see zero scores off the back of any Triple A release. I do not agree with it, but users that score this low would argue it is to balance the sea of tens from other users. I dislike this practise, but then again, I also dislike straight tens for games that don't deserve it. I don't know what Odyssey deserves as I haven't played it, but framing low scoring reviews as being "salty". Noone has that much to lose from Mario Odyssey doing well, surely?!

Re: Nintendo Titles Get Pushed Down the Japanese Charts as Switch Clings Onto Top Spot

Shellcore

@retro_player_22 Not sure what you mean by PS4 needing the Pro to beat Switch hardware sales. They are different SKUs, but are effectively the same console. The jump in processing power and price aren't great, so new entrants to the PlayStation ecosystem would be better off buying a Pro over the standard model. Maybe I read your comment wrong, but imo you could and should lump the two together. Anyway, competition is healthy. Not too bothered who ends up on top as long as they are both doing well : )

Re: Downloading WWE 2K18 Requires 32GB Of MicroSD Storage Space

Shellcore

@BJQ1972 An external solution would work wonders when docked. Obviously not ideal for portable mode. I haven't properly sat down to look at the best larger size SD cards, but would rather have as few as possible.

If 200GB is the cheaper option when buying multiple, then that is surely the way to go.

Re: Nintendo Download: 28th September (Europe)

@Gex91 It's disgusting. Basically loot boxes which are basically a form of gambling. Posted a thread about this on Pushsquare. Mod disagreed and archived it. Games media hates addressing this point. Games can sell stuff, sure. However, gambling money on maybe getting something you want is immoral and probably illegal.

Re: Review: NBA 2K18 (Switch)

Companies need to be penalised with poor scores for poorly performing games. Holding out for patches seems a little too forgiving. By all means update the review later, but the game should be graded on its current state, not withheld until some undetermined date in the future.

Re: Metroid: Samus Returns Makes Top 10 Debut in UK Charts

Shellcore

@Anti-Matter Different countries will always have differing demographics. I would be interested to see a similar chart for Indonesia. If the chart was Nintendo heavy, would we hear people calling the UK gamer out for going too far the other way? I doubt it. Let people enjoy what they want. This isn't a popularity contest, although I get how it can seem this way sometimes on this website.

Re: More UK Gamers Picked Switch This Year Than Xbox One

Shellcore

I think a lot of it is to do with perception. The Switch is given the same amount of shelf space as second hand PS3 games (sometimes less) in GAME. If I didn't know better, I would presume the system was dead before it started. We don't all read Nintendo websites. Also, taste etc, but that has been covered in other comments.

Re: Nintendo Confirms a New Nindies Showcase Presentation for 30th August

Shellcore

@electrolite77 Hmm. I understand and agree with your all-encompassing third party definition. Can't argue with that. I presume you understood that he meant releases by non-indie developers. I also get that seasoned Nintendo gamers understand that THIS kind of third party support isn't to be expected. Is it right for that to be the status quo? Should we need to buy two consoles or a PC capable of gaming to enjoy both Nintendo games and larger third party games? Is this strategy right for Nintendo? Rather than being condescending, there are plenty of touch points for discussion. I like all games and would rather be able to access them all on one console.
