Re: Rumour: Sony Is Gunning For The Switch 2 With A Handheld, Dockable PS6

Meanwhile retro enthusiasm grows worldwide, not giving a damn about AAA gaming and hardware.

At this point I'd even give SEGA a chance if they came up with some sort of Mega Drive Neo, similar to the evercade thing, with a wider mass market appeal and all our beloved retro games onboard, fully legal, licensed for a reasonable price (5,- a pop for a 25+ year old game seems fair) with subscription option or pay-as-you-go option... If you could bring it out at around 250, make it also dockable/handheld in a way and offer all neoretro indiegames on it as well, I do think something like that would have a chance in this day and age.

Imagine a modern gamegear with docking capabilities or something... give it features like streetpass and "real life/AR" gimicks to make it appealing to young folks.

SEGA come back.

@RupeeClock I know I am somewhat naive but wouldn't the easiest solution be to just having a rebate on the Switch 2 title with all bells and whistles, if you already own the Switch 1 version?

Clear separation and messaging for normie-customers. De-facto paying only for an upgrade if you go for Switch 2 version from Switch 1 version.

@Medic_alert I really like the gameplay and always did. Compared to contemporaries (mainly SF) MK was way easier to pick up and people in my friend group all raised really quickly to a comparable skill level.

With the basic attacks all the same this became much more about timing, juggling and clever blocking. People complain blocking is a separate button in MK, but I do believe the gameplay is better for it, since blocking is something you consciously add "to the dance" of it all, instead of a default move (moving away from opponent) in SF.

We had matches where we would run out of time because no one could land a clean hit. It was thrilling, especially since you knew the playstyle of your friends so well you could anticipate their attacks and they could yours.

Briliant.

@Anachronism Good example. But I also feel with the rise of indie games theres much more tolerance for all sorts of visuals. Meaning there are games being made that have the clunky polygonal and flat texture graphics on purpose and people get used to it quite a bit.

That said, there's nothing like an old CRT perfectly hiding how ugly AF early PS1 games actually are!

Back in the day I loved wrestling games. I still remember there was one (but can't remember which console it was on) where you could rip your own music as entrance music, loved having my toon casually stroll towards the ring while Antichrist Superstar is blaring full blast! lol

Re: Fans Reckon Nintendo Has "Killed" Mario Kart World With Its Latest Update

"Open World" isn't always better. Actually it hardly is, except the game was built groundup for that kind of experience. "Kart Racing" never was or was "open world" until now. Perfecting tracks, knowing how to steer and take which shortcuts is a fundamental part of the fun.

"Cruisin around looking stupid" is no fun for me.

Anyways, that, the slow screen and the many other questionable decisions had me step back from my purchase. No regrets so far.
Maybe when the OLED comes around...

Re: Codemasters Says It Will Look At Switch 2 And See If It's A "Good Fit" For F1 Games

@SuntannedDuck2 Bro, modern games are a cashgrab most of the time, that's why I'm mostly into retro games these days and modern racing games can also easily be exploited. That said, what do you expect progression is handled in "semi-sim" racing games? I always felt Gran Turismo was a bit clunky in that regard. I prefered the more direct approach Forza took.

But if you want a story and all with your racing, it reminds me of "Racedriver" somewhen early in the 00's, also by Codemasters if I remember correctly. You might want to check that out.

But to be honest, bringing up Wii and Gamecube Racers in the same conversation as Forza and Gran Turismo, I am not sure you are even the intended target audience for "sim" and "simcade" racers. Which is no problem, but you should adjust your expectations accordingly.
