Preservation is very important but people are being delusional about online services. This game has a robust selection of offline modes anyway, so what's the point of maintaining the online modes if (almost) everyone has moved on? Do you really want to wait for hours to find a match? Even if you manage to force publishers to keep the servers alive, you can't force players to keep playing.
@jfp I don't know. Fortunately you can change the audio track in the settings, but I wish there was a general YouTube setting to use the default original audio track.
I almost picked Europe because even though it's just a cut edit of the Japanese version, the Japanese cover is a little too busy to my liking. At least it doesn't have the crappy Mattel logo on white background. ^^
I prefer the Japanese logo but I picked the Western cover because it's more colorful... Actually it's not often that the Japanese cover is the dark one!
I'll probably wait for a sale anyway (these games get on sale pretty quickly usually), but I was slightly disappointed with 2K23. It had tons of content, sure, but I didn't like the gameplay that much, especially the convoluted countering system... Which is why I ended playing Fight Forever a lot more, even though it's very lacking in the content department. That being said, Fight Forever has been abandoned for a year now, so a lot of the new wrestlers are not included... I wish I liked WWE more, because I'll have to get the DLC with Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer immediately.
@BrintaPap @AnonyQ @dskatter Thanks, I didn't realize it was that short for starters. My TV only has two HDMI ports, but it's my Xbox and Blu-ray player that share a port, even though they still use their respective HDMI cable since I use a splitter. That being said, I try to always use the official cables for consoles, and re-use old cables for Blu-ray players or retro consoles (Analogue stuff) that are not that picky.
That's a good thing, mostly because a lot of third parties don't know how to use HD rumble and turn it to the max (I even had to turn it off in some games). That being said, I was also disappointed with Mario & Luigi Brothership in that regard; it's mostly in cutscenes but it often makes the Switch squeak like in some third party games.
I get that the Western version shows the game better, but aesthetically speaking, I find the Japanese one better. The CGI from the other version has aged poorly imho.
@rvcolem1 It's possible, yes. And I admit it's relevant in terms of marketing because it was 'easier' to sell the game that way (making it more exciting), but I still think it's misleading though.
None of them really convey what Picross is, though. And I didn't pick Europe #2 for another reason: it looks like Mario is dressed as an explorer or something, which can make you think it's an adventure game.
@RupeeClock @BTB20 OK, I get it. What I mean is it happens with every major video game release, especially since "journalists" (and now YouTubers who are not always as serious) have the game in advance. So I really don't see the point of warning people except for promoting piracy.
Given there aren't really spoilers since the game is ten years old, I think that kind of articles look like they just want to tell people they can pirate the game right now if they want... -_-
I'll say it again, then, but given its position right next to the Home button, it could be used to switch between active apps (like Alt+Tab under Windows). Given the Quick Resume for multiple games is one of the best features of the Xbox Series, and the Switch 2 features as much RAM as the Series S, it's not impossible.
I have a new idea for the new button, that makes sense since it's located just below the home button. If you assume the Switch 2 will be able to offer quick resume to several games at a time like the Xbox Series (it has as much RAM as the Series S after all), that button could allow you to go from a game to another, like Alt-Tab on PC.
SOMA is a masterpiece and one of the most memorable games I've played during the past ten years... Which is why I was disappointed with the reception of the new Alone in the Dark (that I haven't played yet, though), since it was directed by its writer.
What a mess. I had no problem with FPG before (I think they even sent me a game for free), but I admit I'm torn here. As a matter of fact, I happened to have checked their blog a few days ago and they haven't posted anything about the problem being resolved, so I find very convenient to claim it is now, while claiming they can't fulfill the shipping "because" of the developer's behavior... And that problem was always weird to me since there are many other publishers of homebrew games that provide quality releases. To be fair, I only sent $9 of shipping fees to FPG, but I don't see how the developer could have other physical editions made without getting their Kickstarter money back.
I chose Europe/NA slightly for nostalgia since the Atari ST port was my very first video game, but the thing is even though I usually pick Japan, this one managed to be even uglier.
@DennyCrane It's actually quite common that games don't show up on the website version of the eshop. I had actually checked the eShop on Friday, but I just found it because it's now listed as released on October 31th, so last week, next to STALKER. ^^ Which is quite unusual...
@Kienda Yeah. I also forgot to mention my website is in French, which is why I prefer to comment myself since my readers may not understand the tweet anyway.
@Kienda I can see that, but tweets don't always display properly (or take some time to), and there are cases where you just want to embed the video, without the comment (it's really a pb for my website because I like to write the comment myself, and I post every week digests with dozens of videos). So the better thing to do imho is posting on both networks, especially when you have a YT account which is Argonaut's case.
I like how everyone in the comments prefers Japan (including me), while the US one wins by far... To be fair, they're very similar I only picked Japan for the dice character that makes it more evocative.
"these can both be levelled up twice" Wait, what? I'm not sure you can level up the chain, and the katana is levelled up only once for me.
Edit: never mind, I didn't notice, it's quite subtle actually.

Re: Horror Dev Bloober Team On Its New Exclusive: "This Is A Vision That Could Only Exist On Nintendo Hardware."
The fact he mentions Limbo makes me think it could be a 2D game.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Bionic Commando (NES)
I usually vote for Japan but I think the art on the US cover is better in terms of composition and color.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Inazuma Eleven
I may like the Japanese one better in terms of design, but I picked Europe because it makes it clearer it's a game about soccer.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Dragon Power (NES)
I hope the 8% that voted NA did it as a joke
@Bydlak
LOL, the main character is a child
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Fatal Fury Special (SNES)
Shinkiro > everything.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Teleroboxer (Virtual Boy)
I picked Japan because I prefer the drawing on this one, but I admit the US one has better, brighter colors.

Re: More Switch Games Have Received Switch 2 Compatibility Fixes
Killing Time was the last game on my 49-item wish list not to be compatibly. Yeah!

Ew... First video game trailer I see that gets AI-translated on default. T_T

I find that art pretty cool, I really don't understand why someone would vote EU there...

Why would you not use the included HDMI cable though?...
Re: Nearly A Decade After Its Initial Release, SOMA Gets Its First Switch Trailer
One of my favorite games in (not so) recent years. I'm glad it's finally on Switch.

My GOTY of 2019. Thanks!

Re: Hamster's Arcade Archives Celebrates Eight Years Of Switch eShop Releases
Great! Now if they could use redirections on their new web site so that I don't have to fix eight years of links, that would be nice.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - River King: Mystic Valley (DS)
I voted for... the EU cover because it's the only one that makes it clear it's a fishing game. I don't find it that ugly, minimalist maybe.

@Bobb I actually thought it was DK Jr.
Re: Switch 2's Rumoured 'C' Button Isn't Actually A 'C' Button

@weakmanben I can confirm it's not available in France either, so I think NL is mistaken here.

Is that really available in Europe? I haven't seen it in the eShop, at least in France.
