Futuristic racers aren't quite as readily available as they once were during simpler times of gaming. In the '90s, the genre had a number of competitors fighting for the top spot, including the likes of F-Zero and Wipeout. Nowadays, this racing niche tends to take a backseat - with fewer big-name companies focusing on these types of games. Fortunately, smaller teams like Shin'en Multimedia have continued on with releases such as Fast RMX.
Xenon Racer is a new game published by Soedesco and developed by 3DClouds.it. Set in the year 2030, it looks more along the lines of Ridge Racer and is about a one-off championship where traditional wheel-based vehicles - powered by Xenon gas - drift and race around multiple cities including Tokyo and Dubai.

The game has been announced for multiple platforms including the Switch but other than this, there's no word on the release date or price. We'll make sure to keep you updated. In the meantime, take a look at the game's announcement trailer above and tell us in the comments if you would be interested in playing this futuristic racer on your Nintendo Switch.

This looks very promising. With this, Grip, Horizon Chase Turbo, Outrun and Virtua Racing on the way it looks like us arcade racing fans are soon to be well catered for.About time too!
Apparently it will have a playable demo at the Milan Game Week in the next few days.
No weapons, no buy Still waiting for Vipeout . I Know It's sony game
Will play this while I wait 10 more years for 90’s Arcade Racer to release.
@OorWullie
Can’t wait for horizon chase turbo....although this don’t look bad either
Looks like a parade of colorful bat-mobiles
Looks awesome. Although, I’m fairly certain that gameplay was not running on Switch. Luckily, I have the other two systems as well. If they pull off a good port for Switch, I’ll do it. Much like FighterZ (which is an excellent port btw)
Hmm, the thing that I'm wondering about this game is why do the cars run on Xenon gas? It's a noble gas with low reactivity & mostly appears in lighting and anesthetic. Technically it could be used in something like an ion thruster, but they rely on the vacuum of space to provide thrust. :/
Either way, the graphics look shiny!! Can't wait for the sequel, chalk racers.. cars powered by the amazing properties of chalk!
Depends on the gameplay especially drift mechanics... love drifting.

REDOUT FOR SWITCH WHEN?
Also this game looks pretty sick. I'll give it a shot.
These futuristic racers continue to be some of the most graphically impressive games on Switch hardware, in my opinion. I can't say I understand why.
The trailer looked pretty, but I need to see some actual uncut gamplay on the Switch before I pull out my wallet.
@Not_Soos Furturistic racers like these rely on the fact that your point of view is pretty limited outside of the track meaning they can funnel all the processing power into what you can see.
I remember watching a video on Crash Bandicoot on the original Playstation & if you can't see it, it literally doesn't exist.
Even though it is mentioned that this game is about of futuristic racers; Well, it's also like prototype cars, in fact, some of those "futuristic" cars have to look like prototypes that exist; and this, for me, seems familiar to the PC game: X-Car experimental racing; the only difference is that X-Car is simulation and Xenon is "arcade"
Nice!! I’m in!!
@DanteSolablood CHALK! Ofcourse.. what were we thinking?! runs out and buys up all the local chalk
A mix between WipEout and Scud Race, sign me in. Arcade style racer like this are what I'm excited for and want in the Switch.
Looks promising
Hope it plays well. Like the setting. Crossing my fingers.
@OorWullie Yup and don't forget Redout. That may still actually release one day. 😂
Fast RMX was cool but floaty wipeout hover physics is just not for me. This looks like actual cars with actual wheels (and hopefully actual grip, but we'll see) so I'm interested.
This looks fantastic. Very 90's arcade style.
I saw 'Xenon' and had an late 80's Amiga fuelled Bitmap Brothers flashback....
Looks really nice. We'll see the price. I hate digital-only games costing more than 15€.
But it's been a long time since we last saw a 90s style arcade racing game, like Sega Rally or Daytona USA, and this one could scratch the itch.
Sometimes I look at the Eshop prices then I goto Steam to buy it for half of the price.
This looks amazing. Please make it run at 60FPS in handheld mode.
I may get this if it reviews well as I had a lot o fun with fast rmx but what I would really want is a less arcade one
Futuristic racers are my jam...and from the above comments, I’m not alone. Def feelin the love! Xenon looks great in concept. We’ll soon get bogged down in FPS, online and multiplayer capability, release date, price, file size, etc. But that was one impressive trailer.
(+1 for above conmenters who actually remembered RedOut was coming to the Switch)
Looks like it could be a good game, but I'm not so keen on the camera angle though. If it can zoom out a bit in the options then I'm sold.
@baller98 Is it a confirmed thing? Not even having a release date?
Looks like an absolute Day One purchase for me. We've been missing this brand of racer for far too long.
I'll be getting it on both PC and Switch, just to show my support. Also, wheel play at home, and Switch on the go. Can't go wrong
@Diuran I'm still waiting for F-ZERO!!!
I got Ridge Racer vibes looking at the trailer too. If it turns out to be Ridge Racer with jets, I'm sold.
Looks interesting, but why wheels?
so it's 12 years into the future? that's not the future- that's just a few iphone sizes up.
I like the look of this. It’s like a look into the very near future. As already mentioned though Xenon as a gas won’t get you very far!! I’m not too keen on the floaty feel of some futuristic racers so if this has a more grippy feel with the track I’m in for sure. I’d prefer the feeling of board on snow but hey...
