When the Pokémon YouTube channel showed off an incredibly short two-minute trailer for Sword and Shield earlier this week, one of the new creatures revealed was Morpeko. This electric dark type Pikachu lookalike can change forms, swapping between full belly mode and hangry mode. It's also arguably the most adorable Pokémon we've seen so far in Galar region.
While Morpeko is likely to be turned into official merchandise in the future, Etsy store artist fatalplush is already selling a made-to-order "high-quality" plush version using her very own pattern. This cute and cuddly custom creation is 20cm tall and is reversible – meaning it can transform from full belly mode to hangry mode. Take a look below:
If you're interested, the item will set you back $325 USD. At the time of writing, there are only two remaining – so order one while you still can, if you really want it.
What do you think of this plush version of Morpeko? Did you enjoy the latest Sword and Shield video? Leave a comment below.

That is NOT worth $325
Can.. someone explain to me what would warrant that high of a price for a 20cm plush?? Like, other plushes of that size are about 10% of that price usually. Toss in the reversable thing and you could probably ask 50 or 60 bucks for it. Am I missing something that warrants this high of a price tag?
It's cool, but holy dang that's expensive.
They are not official and they are handmade. Maybe it explains the price...
It's handmade and custom and as such higher prices should be expected particularly if the quality is up there which it does look. Setting up patterns, getting the materials and the experience to make does not come cheap.
Prices will likely even out more as more peeps produce their own versions, the fastest (That can also back it up) usually get to set the bar.
Look, I get this is handmade and that the production quality is fantastic, but I wouldn’t be willing to pay that much. That’s why I don’t collect plush toys; they’re all so darn expensive (compared to other collectibles, at least).
$325 for a Reversible plushie doll ?! 🤨
The price was just make peoples hangry.
Great concept! It does look high quality
All the best for the artisan,
I hope she sells everything
Some years back I bought a Minecraft pig plush that could reverse into a porkchop. It was 20 dollars.
I know it's made high quality materials, hand made and reversible but even then this it at least 2x times too overpriced (I've seen high quality hand made pluchies, and they are by far not that expensive for such a small one, and I mean ones made from regular high quality materials like this one)
@Aldora if she mass produces it, yes. As long as she makes it on commision than no. It’s like when people on websites like deviantart and fiverr get commisioned to make things with existing designs.
Cute and cool as this is, this would activate Morpeko's new Empty Wallet form.
@Aldora No, it's a form of fan art.
That first picture is very... suggestive. I can't unsee it.
@CaptFloofers This is handmade by one person in Germany. Yours was mass produced likely in China by people getting paid pennies. I mean I still wouldn’t pay it, but it makes sense why it’s not cheap.
That is a nice plush. But $325 is absolutely ridiculous. Yeah it’s handmade, and all fancy. But spending $325 on a plushie is pretty ridiculous.
@Aquamine-Amarine No. If you make a product (and sell this product) it can NEVER be fan art. So yeah this is design theft.
finally a chance to show how devoted I am
If Morpeko has a smile, white fur, and black eyes when full and red eyes, dark fur, and a frown when hangry, then when it is halfway between meals, Morpeko is basically Monokuma.
"Everyone give it your all! It's punishment time! Monopeko used guillotine! It's super effective!"
Pikachu clone #21 has a plush now how surprising
It's expensive because it's not mass produced using cheap chinese labor like other plushes guys.
If hand made in Germany means a $300+ premium on a $20 or less item I can see why Chinese manufacturing has been so popular.
And i thought a Ralph lauren polo at 100e was a bit pricey. But then again im frugal as hell.
Obligatory...😉
Broke: Spend $300 on a Switch
Woke: Spend $300+ on a reversible Morpeko plush
Yo, i bought a $450 dollar statue of the King of Red Lions from Wind Waker... And even I can tell you that that price is absolutely insane, lol
....Yeah I don't think the Pokemon Co will like this...
I paid about $350 for a circular polarizer from Lee Filters which are made in England. I paid that price because I like quality. Taking a cursory glance at the seller's page, I imagine the same applies here.
Yes, it's just a plushie. A very high-quality plushie made by hand. It doesn't take seconds to make these things, folks. She has to eat. If you have the nerve to denigrate what an artist charges based upon what (garbage) comes out of China...well...all I can suggest is stop wagging your finger.
@Iacobus The kind of people who want to buy this stuff also need to eat, and it sounds like she is charging a massive premium for her labor which can't be that intense.
@JayJ You're not only paying for materials, but also time plus talent and craftsmanship, which are the key words here. Let's not fool ourselves; not just anyone can make these by hand. It takes some skill, so that makes her an artist.
Adding to that, I would gather that since these are made by hand, no two are exactly alike, making them unique. They're certainly not cheap-looking.
As mentioned before, I bought a high-quality polarizer for my camera that I paid a premium for. Sure, I could have bought a cheap, Chinese-made one but I'm into supporting true craftsmanship, not companies looking for a quick turnaround.
@Iacobus I don't think it is possible to absolutely differentiate between mass-produced goods and handcrafted ones. For example, if Pokemon co. launches a similar product with similar quality for $60, will you pay 5 times for this? Even if you do, would you pay something in the range of $1500 for this (should the creator think it is worth that much)? I am not demeaning the art and dedication behind the product, but if you are selling something, you may as well price your product competitively - that's how the market works. From the consumer's point of view, everyone has a tolerance range beyond which an article becomes prohibitively expensive for them, no matter the art involved. Your tolerance range may be high, but for someone else it might be even higher. For most people in this thread, it seems lower. So this can not be a justification that something should be sold at multiple times the perceived market value of a product, irrespective of whether it is handcrafted or mass-produced.
@San_D I think it all comes down to how much expendable income someone has and how much money they feel comfortable with spending without care on whatever. That is how luxury goods always operate, like some people can justify spending $100,000 on a watch.
@San_D And yet, she's selling them like hotcakes.
Fact is that her pricing is competitive enough for it to sell.
I think it's borderline extortion with those prices (despite easily being able to afford it, but geez, it's a damn plushie), but still.
The pricing isn't problematic as long as the product sells, at least from a corporate viewpoint.
Pokemon fanatics will pay ridiculous money for exclusive items, so someone will always try to exploit that, what else is new?
@JayJ the kind of people who buy this stuff still live with their parents, don't pay rent and don't have a girlfriend.
It would take me more time to make one myself than it would take to earn $325, so it's not that bad.
If it takes her a few hours to make one (plus all the time it cost to design the whole thing), then the price isn't that bad at all. Y'all just used to Chinese children making all your toys.
@terry93 it doesn’t explain the price, $100 would still be considered way too much lol
@Aldora Yeah, it is. The creator will likely get a Cease and Desist or sued by The Pokemon Company.
It's illegal to make profit off someone else's IP
@USWITCH64 I used to know a guy that was married, had a kid, his own home and was gainfully employed by Raytheon. He had a collection (comics and related collectables) that was amazing.
@Yosher It's a handmade plush, it's expensive and labour intense to make plushes and this one is complex
@May_Nyan $300 intense and complex though??
