The Pokémon Company has posted a new one-minute commercial for the upcoming Switch release Pokémon Sword and Shield on its Japanese YouTube channel.
This brief clip showcases the many different environments in the Galar region while also showing some of the newer pocket monsters and human characters previously revealed in a seperate trailer earlier this week. There's even another look at the Gigantamax version of Alcremie. You know, the big Fairy-type cake Pokémon.
Take a look at the trailer above and tell us what you think about it down below.

LOL
Giant Pikachu has same size as Giant Charizard, i guess... 🤣
I want to be excited for the game but I also want Game Freak to try a lot harder for the next game because I am seriously ready for this series to reach its potential. I feel like I've been playing the same thing over and over again since I was 8, and now they're going backwards by removing features as if they're not listening to us at all.
Welp, least I know for sure now Lapras is in the game.
@SpaceboyScreams I mean removal of Mega and Z-Moves are somewhat welcome because flawed, but removing Mega, "so thare is not additional design work", but introducing Gigantamaxing, go figure.
Dynamaxing (apart from the ridiculous size change) feels like it could have been a proper revamp of both Mega and Z-Moves, but still it's likely that they will remove some Mega-forms instead of using them as their gigantamax forms.
Do Japanese trailers often feature songs with English lyrics?
I can get why people would be upset over this. When you consider fan made projects that incorporated different design ideas that work for the series, it's surprising that Gamefreak would think removal of Pokemon in lay of a new gimmick was the right way to go. Keep what works and improve on what doesn't. Go over series best and reincorporate that into the game. Instead we lose some troops, and are expected to be ok with it for the new game play mechanics that probably won't be there come the next generation. I'm definitely not as hyped as I could have been. Just give me an iincreased difficulty function like random trainers with six Pokemon or something. Lol
Every time I see something new it makes me think its getting more and more digimon
I wish the commercial conveyed the spirit of Pokémon a bit better. Where’s the sense of wonder?
The more I see Sword and Shield the more disappointed I get...
Whelp, let's keep those controversial comments rolling. But seriously, I've never been so equally excited and underwhelmed by a game like this before. The trailer ended up being more of the same so I suppose we will have to wait for more news later.
Looking good.
November can't get here fast enough.
Charizard isn't even shooting the flame from his mouth. I'm seriously wondering if gamefreak is even trying at this point.
@SpaceboyScreams you dont feel like you've been playing the same game you have been!
Was excited for this game. Now just looks like gimmicky excrement.
@DeathByLasagna what you're seeing is what you're getting with this game. I wouldnt hold out hope that they are concealing some major improvements for release. This game is just US/UM with updated shaders, some new pokemon and vastly less pokemon, recycled animations for almost everything. So if you want to pay 60 bucks for a 3ds game go for it. Just dont be surprised when you feel deflated.
This game is gonna be AWESOME! Can't wait, but idk if I should get both sword and shield yet. And Dynamaxing looks frickin cool😱. I really like that we can control the camera now in this new region, and that they kept the visible pokemon from Lets Go games.
@Gzeus88
Can you just STOP preaching other users with your saltiness about Pokemon Sword / Shield ?!
Seriously !
@Anti-Matter we've had this back and forth already. So all I will say is if you dont like it then press ignore.
@Galenmereth
Done. 😉
Is Charizard shooting fire out of the side of its head?
Its the the higher quality of animations Pokemon have died for?
@Gzeus88 Don't bother. With Switch Lite being a thing, Nintendo could sell soundtrack from Yoshi's New Island in boxes labelled "Pokemon Sword/Shield" and on the day of release you'd still have an army of consumers claiming how great it is and something about "haters" being "salty".
The emperor has no clothes and some people need to realize that on their own terms.
Overhyping. Making influencers and other scandalous people rich while having no clue who people who fought for millenials freedom today are. Being the reason why crapy songs with the same repeatable beats gets to the top ten. Being the reason why companies abandon quality to release games like this with low quality animation with hyper beams being released from a pokemons stomach. Following trends without reflection just to be disappointed after. I argued with people before not to follow hype blindly, it was all a waste of time, now im sitting here enjoying these stuffs like some kind of a movie.
@Galenmereth that's not that I'm doing at all but thanks Freud lite. Enjoy your 3DS game.
With this and the Switch Lite the games sales will explode,can't wait for the game to be released.
@Franklin,
I wouldn't buy it then,if I were you.
@Desa,
You can understand why people get upset because Game Freak did not personally taylor a game made for them,and of course would rather have a fan made concept of the game instead,of course this fan made concept game will not be complete and be more of a wish list than a game.
@johnvboy Sometimes the fans know the core audience better than the developers. You don't always need to go so far outside of the box to find success. Just look back at all the previous mechanics that everyone loved. I can't believe that the first game on the switch wouldn't have the processing power to house all current Pokemon, but the 3ds could. I'm sure everyone would agree that the 3ds was lower tier hardware, but yet, all 800+ Pokemon was always available within the games. Sure down the line I can see there being too many, but I doubt another 50 or so Pokemon added into the game is pushing the hardware to the max. Of course fans would be mad, each Pokemon had it's place within the game. Heck, the whole literal point of the game is to catch them all! It's not an extreme reaction to feel slighted.
@Liam_Doolan dude I get the clicks and such, but the clickbaiting seriously has to stop.
If the title says the trailer shows new Pokémon, I sure as hell expect freaking new creatures, not already revealed Pokémon!
This site has become a travesty, what with 51617151 articles a day about the Switch Lite and another crapton about Pokémon ‘cause you know people will click.
@clvr I'm pretty sure the phrase "shows (the) new X in action" implies that said new X had already been revealed, but is now being shown off properly. At least, that is how I interpreted it, and how I presume most native speakers would also interpret it. If the title had said "trailer shows new Nintendo Switch Lite in action", surely you wouldn't have interpreted that as meaning there's another Switch Lite we hadn't heard about?
I think this looks great.
I also love 3DS games. So even if it is like the last one. Awesome. Because that was a great game.
But by the looks of it, they’ve tried a number of new things. So it should be fun.
The creators should make what they want to create and not be beholden to anyone but their own vision. It looks good.
IDCCCC this game will sell like crazy and i cant wait.
@Desa,
No we think we know better than the developer,which is not the same thing as knowing better,the main audience for this game will be more than happy,it's only the niche internet forum posting minorities that have any real issues,it's just when they complain they make it like everybody feels just like them,we have to consider there are core and casual pokemon fans.
Ive always felt the Odd numbered Gens (3, 5, and 7) were superior games as far as innovation and ideas. Gen 2 is the exception.
Gen 4 just tweaked 3's features, and Gen 6... I felt like they concentrated all their efforts on 3d models instead of the World.
And now I feel like Gen 8 is heading in the same direction. Theyre so busy to appeal to the 'Graphics' generation of gamers that theyre neglecting what makes Pokemon fun; exploration, adventure.
@johnvboy
It's not about thinking we know better. It's about the developers taking out core assets that make the game truly what it is in favor of a literal gimmick. As you've said, there are people who are going to be okay with it, and that's fine, but that doesn't mean that those who aren't happy with the decision should sit back and say nothing at all. For one this is a forum, we can be as vocal as we wish, and on top of that, suffering in silence isn't the way to help the community grow. Having opinions isn't supposed to simply be divisive, and I don't think this is one that is controversial. Game Freak has been slowly dropping the ball for years, and it's getting worse. Once we start conforming in favor of just going with the flow, we lose our chance to make sure we get actually finished games with completed content. Our voices should matter.
@nintendoknife of course, but given the context of a series that churns out dozens of new creatures every gen, it doesn’t seem far fetched to equate “new” to “newly revealed”; also, we all know they tend to reveal a lot (if not all) of them before releasing the games, so if I see “new Pokémon” I think of never-seen-before Pokémon.
But I’m not here to argue semantics, I wanna argue that it would cost nothing to make the title clearer, but hey, clicks, right?
@Desa,
Never said that nobody has the right to complain,it's just that when people do complain they make it sound like everybody/fans are up in arms just like themselves,the game has not been released yet and people are already writing it off.
@clvr I agree about clickbait in general (although it seems many people don't seem to understand that 'clicks' are only valuable if the clickers don't have an adblocker), but in this particular case the author just used a common phrase to mean what it always meant. There are much better examples to complain about.
@forumposter21 "Theyre so busy to appeal to the 'Graphics' generation of gamers" Well, considering they're reusing all assets they can from the 3DS games, I doubt that. Otherwise, you make a good point.
In all fairness they had to remove some Pokemon to make room for those massive ones,we can't have a Pokemon region with a population problem,can we?.
Looks so average. Ill wait till its in the discount bin. Just give us luigis mansion.
"We didn't bother re-texturing all Pokemon because we wanted different Pokemon to shine, which is why we included Ferrothorn & Toxapex, two very overly used Pokemon."
This video perfectly demonstrates the importance of animation in Pokemon and the laziness of Game Freak.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtI5tmwrqbk
Ok. I didn't see any new ones.
I'm going to give this game a chance, but there really isn't much in that video that gets me excited.
@Dringo,
Na they should listen to a few fans and make the game they feel they are entitled too,but seriously Game Freak Know that the majority of Pokemon fans will be over the moon with this game and will not be concerned to a few moaners on the internet and YouTube.
@Preposterous,
So you are saying if people go and buy this game that the fans...er I mean a small very vocal internet/YouTube minority don't personally like,then they are stupid in some way and are being conned into accepting a poor game just because of it's title?,Lets look at it another way as the main percentage of Pokemon and Switch owners just enjoy their video games for what they are and spent time playing and enjoying them,rather than moaning and complaining all the time.
@SpaceboyScreams,
I do have to laugh at the inconsistencies with peoples comments on here,on the one hand they bemoan Game Freak for not trying hard enough and being lazy by bringing a very similar game to all the other ones,stating the series has not evolved since it's very early games,then in the same breath moan that Game Freak are removing the old features and Pokemon from the game,and start complaining if they even dare to add a new feature to the game like the Gigantamax mode,so just to recap here you wan't a different Pokemon game with brand new features that's drasticly different from all the older titles,that has all the same game modes and features from the older games....good luck with that.
I will leave this here.

And this:

Such cruelty. They’re a handheld games team. They are half the size of these studios you’re comparing them to. There is no way they can pull off the things you’re asking without becoming a much bigger company, which I suspect they’d rather not become.
But of course, your ignorance on these matters is besides the point. Let’s bully a load of creators to do things they don’t want to and make them become a company they don’t want to become. Call them lazy, despite the crunch conditions... just horrible humans all over the Internet.
It’s why I should avoid Nintendo forums. If you’re not into the game, don’t buy it. Don’t be a dick.
POKETO MONSTA COPY AND PASTE
@DenDen less and less actually, a fusion of 2 digimon games that are a 2-4 years old are already looking a hell of a lot better then sword & shield after all.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOpjwvu05xE
also unlike game freak, the people who are working on digimon survive actually care enough about the game to delay it. the only reason why sword & shield is going to sell anything is because of the cult-like obsession of various pokemon fans
@Dringo,
Ah if only things were that simple,don't like something don't buy it...hang on a second things are that simple.
@Shadowmoon522
Those Digimon rip off games look rubbish imho...and you think they could have been a little more creative with the name.
Looks great. I'm excited to play it. I don't really care about national dex and honestly the animations look fine to me. It's pokémon, when have we ever really placed such high value on battle animations?
