Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th November)

PixelRain

I haven’t commented on here for a while, but I’m back again, hopefully consistently. This weekend I’ll be working through a bit of a backlog I created due to Black Friday shopping, so FFXVI, Kirby and the forgotten land, ACNH (restarted as Island Rep this time around), and maybe some VR stuff too. Only problem working through that backlog is…Balatro, it’s the only thing I play at the moment, and for good reason since it’s the most fun I’ve had playing a card based game in a while. It’s been a long week and I know it’s a tad late for this, but have a good weekend everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (24th August)

PixelRain

This weekend I’ll be attempting to finish Control over on PC, got a little busy past couple of weeks so I’m hoping that will be able to change this weekend. Over on Switch I’ll probably continue my P5R playthrough and on PS5, more of The Finals most likely. It’s been a long week so happy weekend everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (3rd August)

PixelRain

I’ve been pretty busy building a new setup so hopefully this weekend I can finally sit down and enjoy it for a bit, I’m still missing a couple things, but so far so good. I’ll probably continue my playthrough of P5R and Resident Evil, and I might resume playing Control since I bought Alan Wake 2 on sale last week. Its been a busy past few weeks so have a good a good weekend everyone!

Re: Iconic Publication Game Informer Is Closing Down After 33 Years

PixelRain

Man this sucks to hear. I’m glad I still kept the print copies over the years, there’s something novel about flipping through a few old magazines and seeing what was popular or coming out at the time. G.I. Was such a good source of info growing up too, quite a few games I got because of their reviews and positive feedback for it (and plenty of games I stayed away from because of their reviews as well). It’s a shame GameStop gave it the axe so quickly though despite their legacy and years of publication. R.I.P. GameInformer, you will be sorely missed.

Re: Poll: Which Is Your Favourite Nintendo Game Cartridge Design?

PixelRain

Voted for the SNES NA cart but honestly, it’s a bit of a tie between that one and the DS/3DS ones. As far as home consoles go, the SNES one is the go to for sure, but the DS cart was just the right size for a portable game console, not too small that you would lose it immediately, but not too bulky that it’s awkward to carry multiple around at the same time.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th July)

PixelRain

Not sure what I’ll end up playing this weekend, but hopefully I’ll find some time to continue my playthrough of Persona 5 and maybe continue on with my Resident Evil playthrough as well. Other games i would end up playing would be R6 and The Finals. It’s been a long couple of weeks for me so happy gaming everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (29th June)

PixelRain

I finished my playthrough of The Last of Us Part 2 earlier in the week, so I’m most likely going to focus on Persona 5 and The Finals as much as I can this weekend. Not sure what to play next, there’s quite a few games I’ve been wanting to try out so we’ll see. It’s been a bit of a long week so happy gaming everyone!

Re: Talking Point: amiibo Were First Revealed 10 Years Ago Today, And We Still Want More

PixelRain

I can’t be the only one feeling old it’s been ten years since they were announced, I still have my OG Link and Pikachu amiibo sitting on my shelf. While I want them to continue making Amiibo, it really hasn’t had much support as of late, with TotK being the last game I can think of that had decent support for them. Really at the end of the day part of the appeal of them for me was that they were more affordable than some other statues/replicas of famous characters which is one of the reasons it really sold it for me

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (8th June)

PixelRain

This weekend I’m still recovering a bit from being sick the past couple of days, but hopefully I’ll be able to continue my playthrough of P5R and after the SGF showcase, I kind of want to dive back into Control. As for some other games, I’m just waiting for the next seasons for The Finals and R6 so I may boot up Multiversus and play it here and there as well. Been a bit of a long week so happy gaming everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (1st June)

PixelRain

Recently I finished FF7 Rebirth so I plan on moving on to the next game to play through, hopefully over the weekend I’ll be able to make some more progress in P5R then on the switch. Some of the other games I’ll find myself playing over the weekend include R6 Siege, Multiversus, and The Finals. It’s been a long week so happy gaming everyone!

Re: Gallery: 13 Awesome Details We Spotted In The Legend Of Zelda's Great Deku Tree LEGO Set

PixelRain

I’ll definitely end up getting this set at some point, been wanting Lego and Nintendo to partner for years now so seeing the recent sets have been a dream come true. Judging by the website, they gave it its own category so I’m hoping more sets are on the way (Hyrule castle anyone?). The price per piece count isn’t the best, though keep in mind that rather than a lego set like the architecture series that uses a bunch of small lego bricks, they’re using both specialized bricks and larger parts to build the set this time around.

Re: Soapbox: Fire Emblem’s Future May Not Be In Turn-Based Combat

PixelRain

Being that I’ve played a few fire emblem games so far, and I enjoy the series as a whole, it seems like a disservice to ditch the strategy part of the game considering that’s really the only thing they all have in common. For fire emblem going forward in terms of gameplay, it’d be interesting to mix in other genres with main part of the game, sort of like when Echoes had a dungeon crawler element to it, (wouldn’t mind a roguelike feature thrown into a FE game). As for story and such, it’s FE, which has had a better shot at being memorable when it’s more grounded and a bit more on the mature side. All in all, if you take out the main aspect of FE, there wouldn’t be much to look forward to with that game.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (25th May)

PixelRain

This weekend I’ll attempt to continue my playthrough of FF7 Rebirth, hopefully I can finish it sooner than later so I can move on to the next game. Some other games I’ll probably play is The Finals, R6 Siege, Animal Well, and P5R. I have a bit of a busy weekend ahead of me so happy gaming!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (11th May)

PixelRain

This weekend I’ll be playing Animal Well over on pc, which has been an absolute blast. Over on PS5, I’ll most likely play some more of the Finals and attempt to finish FF7 Rebirth. On the Switch I’ll continue my playthrough of P5R. I have a bit of a busy weekend ahead of me, as well as Mother’s Day, so happy gaming everyone!

Re: Talking Point: Will Nintendo Wring One More Holiday From Switch Before Revealing New Hardware?

PixelRain

I have a feeling that we’ll get Metroid Prime 4 on the current switch for the holiday season, but as a launch title for the next console (like BotW for the Wii U and Switch respectively). As for the games for the rest of this year, I’d say it’s a safe bet for them to release another Fire Emblem, most likely a remake, before the switch ends its life cycle. I do have a sneaking suspicion that Pokemon Z-A is a launch title for the new system though…

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (6th April)

PixelRain

This weekend I will continue playing through Persona 5 Royal on my switch, and on my pc, play some more CS2 and R6 Siege. Not sure if I’ll get around to playing more of FF7 Rebirth but I’ll try lol. Other than that, I’ve been in the process of backing up and making sure my 3DS is all set before online play shuts down. Been a busy week so happy gaming this weekend!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (30th March)

PixelRain

Recently I started playing Persona 5 Royal on Switch, so I will mostly be playing that. Over on PC it’ll mostly just be some R6 since a new event started, and on PS5, maybe I’ll continue my playthrough of FF7 Rebirth as well as some of the Finals. It’s a holiday weekend this time around, so have fun gaming and happy Easter!

Re: GameStop Hit By Layoffs As Analyst Predicts 'Unsustainable' Sales Decline

PixelRain

These days I mostly just use GameStop to preorder collector edition games in store and put like 50% down and pay the rest when it releases. I totally agree that it hasn’t been the same in recent years, however I have had a few wholesome interactions with the employees in the past couple of months, but other than that, not much going for them unless you like Funko pops and buying games at full price…

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (16th March)

PixelRain

This weekend I’ll continue playing through Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, as well as play some more of The Finals, which got a new season a couple days ago and is such a blast to play. Over on my switch, I’m not sure what I’ll be playing on there, but I’ll most likely end up playing Animal Crossing New Horizons. Happy gaming everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 24th)

PixelRain

This week I’ll probably end up playing Uncharted 3 on PS5, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney collection on Switch, and maybe snag a few games on sale over on Steam. As of right now, I’ve been trying to clear as much of my backlog as possible before FF7 Rebirth releases next week. Happy gaming everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 10th)

PixelRain

I’ve been kind of stuck on what games to play as of late, but I’ll most likely go back to finish playing FF7 Crisis Core before the end of this month. Other than that, I’ll probably alternate between playing some more of The Finals and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy. It’s been a long week, so I’m looking forward to the weekend, happy gaming everybody!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 3rd)

PixelRain

This weekend I’ll continue playing through different games that I’ve been playing recently, and now that it’s February that means it’s almost time for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Over on my switch I’ll continue playing through Mario Wonder and maybe some Minecraft. Over on the PS5 I’ll try to continue my playthroughs of Resident Evil and Uncharted, and try to finish Crisis Core: FF7. On PC I’ll be playing some more of The Finals and Control. Have a good weekend everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 20th)

PixelRain

I’ll probably be playing a bit more of Mario Wonder, and if my friends are wanting to do anything, it will most likely consist of some Lethal Company, Halo, and a few others. Over on the PS5, I’ll be playing The Finals, Uncharted, and just recently got the first Resident Evil, so I’ll be attempting to play through that. Happy gaming everyone!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (Christmas 2023 Edition)

PixelRain

This weekend I will be playing a few different things in the spare time I have. For the switch, definitely continue playing through the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney games, and maybe some co-op games with my family. On the PS5 I’ll most likely end up continue playing The Finals, which was way more fun than I was expecting. All in all, a busy weekend it seems for people, so merry Christmas and happy gaming!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 2nd)

PixelRain

After some Black Friday shopping I managed to get a few games I’ll be playing through on sale, mainly so far the Resident Evil 4 remake and Control Ultimate Edition, both of which are phenomenal games. On my switch I’ll slowly but surely keep playing Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney trilogy, and maybe some among us seeing that they added an indie crossover. Happy weekend everyone!

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Superstars

PixelRain

I honestly thought I was on Push Square’s website for a second when reading this article. That aside, I’ve never really been a Sonic fan, but there’s something refreshing about it being a 2D side scroller platformer rather than an open-world/3D. I’m especially a fan of the modern/retro art style as well. Who knows, I’m curious what fans say about it though.

Re: Unity Apologies For Its 'Runtime Fee' Policy, Promises To Make 'Changes'

PixelRain

I think going forward, if any company is still using Unity, there will not be any trust between the company and the developer. I get that something like a live-service game (or any game really) is hard to change the engine for, but if they are really that motivated to make decisions such as this, then it might be a cost worth justifying. I know I say all this without any real game developer standpoint, and I’m on the consumer side of things, but I feel like this type of policy Unity is trying to do hurts everyone in the process.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Mortal Kombat 1

PixelRain

I have it pre-ordered on the PS5 and I can’t wait for it to release. I am very curious how the switch port is going to end up, or the post-launch support for this game. All in all, it looks to be like it’s going to be a fun (and gory) time.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 9th)

PixelRain

I’ve been playing through The Messenger, maybe then once I beat it I can dive into Sea of Stars to notice all the subtle connections between the two games. other than that, I’ve been at a loss as to what game I should dive into next, with MK1 right around the corner and Spider-Man 2 in a few weeks.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Sea Of Stars

PixelRain

The Japan one reminds me of the old RPG covers, specifically ones in the “Tales of” series and the FF 1-6 watercolor aesthetics. The NA/EU cover matches the actual look of the game more closely I feel like. Both covers are awesome though.
