Mario Party is always a good bit of fun when you have family or friends over, and while the boards themselves are often thought of as the main attraction, we all know that the minigames are really where it's at. Right?
Well, the good news is that Mario Party Superstars, set to launch on Switch on 29th October, will include a whopping 100 minigames to play that have been cherry-picked from games gone by. If you haven't got your pre-order in yet, there are plenty of options to do just that right here.

Dungeon Duos, Booksquirm and Trace Race are in so we’re good!
Hopefully button-mashing minigames will be more controller-friendly this time. I'd much rather shake the Joy-Con than break the stick with violent motions.
Pretty cool that we even got a few from Mario Party 10.
I'm pretty hype for this; I find it really funny that this is basically a re-do of the game they released on 3DS, just executed better. I was hoping to see more minigames from Mario Party 8, as that game has some of the best in the series in my opinion. But I understand why they would want to stay away from motion-based games.
I wish they had put more minigames from 10 as well. That game is bad, but the minigames are pretty good. It would be nice to play them in the context of a better game with real boards; the assets are already in HD, so it wouldn't be as much work to "remake them."
Still hype for this!
Yeah sure, leave nothing for people to discover for themselves, throw everything out in the open!
... always silly to me when they do this, regardless of game.
Would have got this and another set of Joy-con if my origional Joy-con didnt drift. Ruined the last one for me and i always thought it was daughter making excuses for losing all the time 😂
Wow, that's a lot !
As a gamer who have never played Mario Party N64 & Gamecube, I think the mini games from those machines are really big deal on Nintendo Switch since they got better graphic remake.
So…. 100 of the best, eh? A “Top 100” if you will…. Sounds like a great idea for a Mario Party game. Should have called it “Mario Party: Top 100” perhaps…
Wish this game also had amiibo Party from Mario Party 10.
I still have an NSO voucher sitting in my account (from when I bought Famicom Detective Club) and I intend to use that on this if it turns out to be any good. Certainly not willing to pull the trigger yet though considering NDcube's track record. Fingers crossed it turns out to be their first good Mario Party game as it really should be with this relatively fool-proof concept of recreating the boards from when the games were good.
Apparently the duel minigames don't count towards the total so there's probably more duel minigames we don't know of yet.
EDIT: Sorry Item Minigames, not Duel.
Outside of Bobbing Bow-Loons and Hammer Slammer, I wonder what other item minigames are in.
Ah, so many fond memories of playing Mario Party with my sisters. That is a crazy huge list of mini games. Eatsa Pizza ftw!
Did I miss it? I don’t see Hexagon Heat, and it was previewed in the gameplay footage. Please don’t forget that one, Nintendo 😓
Yes! I love Ice hockey, thank you Nintendo!
Shame that they didn't add more from 8! Maybe I just have too much nostalgia for it, though.
@gaga64 https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/mario-party-the-top-100-3ds/ If this game didn’t exist, they could have named it that!
@JoeyTS @gaga64 If there are any random chance mini-games, it won’t be the Top 100. The 3DS collection was like the top 90. Many great games, with a few random chance duds.
@JoeyTS I think they knew
@Enriesto Hexagon Heat is the Mario Party 2 remake of Mushroom Mix-up in Mario Party 1.
So the gameplay itself is there, but in Mario Party 1, it was mushrooms that rose up and you had to quickly get to it. And I believe it was water, rather than lava in Mario Party 1.
I wish there were GC boards and more GC minigames but it was clear from the initial E3 announcement that the focus was N64.
Alright, this will definably be a good game. I've never played a Mario Party game before, so this will be right up my alley. I was already hooked on button controls and online multiplayer.
@Grumblevolcano If they had sense they'd do a Gamecube expansion pack to add Gamecube boards, but it's likely they don't have sense.
For me personally it's great, as I still have Mario Party 2 and 3 as my favourite Mario Parties, but I wouldn't say no to a paid DLC for Gamecube content.
100 Mini Games is a lot. Nice to see Nintendo do this effort.
I am SO EXCITED for this...could be the best ever?! We need 'Soar to Score' from MP10 though...that one gave me anxiety!!hHAHA
I love Mario Party...can't wait!!! Halloween and Christmas party sorted!
Aren't some of those Mario Party 1 minigames the infamous ones that caused people to form rashes on their hands from the friction caused by trying to control them?
Interesting choice, Nintendo, but okay. Obviously they've had to rework them, but how?
It’s Mario. Wahooooo
Day 1
no triple jump from Party5 is disappointed. this mini is my favorite and will buy a MP if this was the only minigame on it. Hope it could be added as DLC
@Xeno_Aura Thank you! That was my favourite mini-game in MP2 and I never owned the first game
Has there been any information about online play for this? I've never played a Mario Party game but I have nobody to play locally really so not much point getting it if there isn't a good online mode I suppose!
Dungeon Duos and Shell Shocked made it.
They're saying all the right things...
@OldMcGroin They said all modes will support online multiplayer.
@JAPBOO @Xeno_Aura @Grumblevolcano I'm hoping for a DLC expansion pack. The GCN had some of the best mini games imo, with 6 being my fave of all time. I'm hoping they do DLC for this. Super Mario Party was a wasted chance.
Awesome. I absolutely cannot wait for this game. All great picks outside of Mecha Marathon.
hope they brought back the boo bells so i can steal peoples coins and stars and usually i chose random letting boo pick his victims just like with the bower phone.
Despite the criticism from Mario Party The Top 100 being that it was unbalanced in which games were represented, Superstars is even more skewed. How did we go from 4 minigames represented in 8 to just 2? Regardless, I really hope the selection has some variety, because you can definitely see in The Top 100 where we got minigame concepts that overlap.
@Harmonie Yes. They reworked them to mashing A, A+B, etc.
Some were reworked in Mario Party 2 to avoid that issue of blisters
@LavaTwilight couldnt agree more. I have all MPs and GCN are my favorite ones even if some are mods from first 3 MPs.
Given how this Mario Party already draws from the series' earlier boards, it would be great to see DLC with extra boards and minigames. 100 may sound like a lot of minigames, but you will find yourself recycling them at least occasionally even going through the five existing boards the first time around. Of course the caveat is that some minigames were frankly better than others, so sticking with the better, more accessible ones would be the way to go.
I won't be holding my breath for DLC content, however; to date that's never happened for a Mario Party game that I can recall, which is kind of baffling considering how well you'd think this series lends itself to the concept.
@Kyloctopus It’s actually 3 Mario Party 8 mini games in The Top 100 but I see your point!
@Collinhall how much overlap is there with the 3ds?
Of all the mini games they decide to put Tug o War? Do they want to destroy the palms of our hands again?
@fafonio If I recall, they changed it to mashing A or A+B ... But don't quote me on that one haha
Also Mario Party 8! wow
@Enriesto they went with mushroom mixup. Same concept, different coat of paint!
I'm excited for this game.
As someone who went from the SNES to PlayStation as a kid (and stuck with PS systems until the Wii (skipped Wii U for reasons) and now owning a Switch). I'm more than happy with the ports and collections, Nintendo is releasing, as it gives me a chance to experience them now
@GamingBread oh I think you'll have fun! Don't look up too much about the minigames though, the surprise what's coming is the best! 😉😁
(But they did an awesome job, truly almost all the best ones are here! )
@Tandy255
Cool, thanks 👍

I can't wait to play this game. I've always wanted to play the classic Mario Parties, and now I don't need to buy an N64 to do so.
I’m surprised Smash Compactor and Peak Precision weren’t included
@Enriesto Mushroom Mix-Up is the original 'Hexagon Heat'. This minigame first appeared in Mario Party 1
Been training my 7 & 9 year old on MP:All-Stars the past few weekends in preparation/anticipation for this one.. it looks beautifully redone.. I just hope they let us skip/speed up some of the monotonous cutscenes (such as the star moving to the other side of the board SLOWLY).. and my favorite board, although it’s small, was the train car on Wii U.. would happily pay to get more boards than just five.. still day one for me though
It's pretty telling when there are considerably more mini games from just Mario Party 2 than 7, 8, 9 and 10 combined.
Overall, good list. I'm excited. Though where's Running of the Bulb?! That's one of my all-time favorites!
@Yosher Why? It's not like it's the kind of thing that's really a spoiler. Many people want to know this ahead of time. And those who don't, well, it's not like it's hard to avoid. It's not like you're going to accidentally see the article, then accidentally read or skip several paragraphs, then inadvertently absorb 120+ lines of text with all the mini game names.
So far I’m very pleased with all I’m seeing in regards to boards and minigames. My only hope is that Nintendo will offer DLC boards. I know they probably won’t, but still I think most of us would splurge for more boards
Ohhh, I thought it was going to be all N64 throwbacks. I'm ok with it being the whole series, but 3 is by far my favourite.
@Lyricana It's not really because it's a spoiler in this case, but more the fact that they just bring out all the information. It's something they've been doing for a lot of their games and there's just barely any surprises left in a lot of their games because of it.
Granted, in most cases it doesn't really matter, but I just find it silly. That's all.
@Yosher I'm just saying it's nice for people who like to know that stuff. I guess I don't think that's silly.
@Lyricana Of course! And those people could have found out about all that stuff soon after release anyway. But mentioning it all before release just doesn't really make much sense to me.
I'm probably just overthinking it, don't mind me
Wow! What a list! For some reason, I thought the 100 games were limited to past N64 titles.
As an owner of Mario Party 3 and my experience being limited to N64 (Party 2 and 3), I'm glad there is a wide range across all titles.
Also... with so many classics from Mario Party 3... I'm excited.
Vine with me
Eatsa Pizza
Spotlight Swim (lol)
Hide & Sneek
Tidal Toss
So many good ones!
I only care about the boards. Most recent Mario party’s board quality and quantity are both disappointing.
Very excited for this game. Super Mario Party was fun, but we never revisit it.
@Yosher Why not just avoid looking at lists like this?
@vintage_amigo I didn't look at it. I just think it's weird how they leave little to be actually discovered by the player these days in multiplayer games. I remember being pleasantly surprised by all kinds of certain modes or minigames in Mario spin offs and by giving out all the details like this, people who can't help but look won't ever get that feeling.
I'm just being dumb though probably.
Wait WHAT?! BEACH VOLLEY FOLLEY? It was a bonus game in Mario Party 4 and is one of the best Mario Sports game I have ever played. Seriously it's so tight and still holds up. I still play it to this day. I'm so happy right now
Honeycomb Havoc YES!
Beach Volley Folly could be it's own game it's that good
I love the first 3 MP titles. For those who don't know, as others here have said, a lot of minigames from Mario Party were recycled for Mario Party 2.
Mario party 8 deserves more representstion i grew up eith that one
DUNGEON DUOS!!!!!!!! Top 100 disappointed me with its lack of dungeon duos, so I'm really happy to see it here this time! This list looks more like an actual top 100, especially with the emphasis on every game prior to the Wii era, although the absence of Mario Party 8's Shake It Up is, quite frankly, unforgivable. Cancelling my pre-order.
13 from MP1, 19 from MP2, 23 from MP3, 8 from MP4, 10 from MP5, 12 from MP6, 8 from MP7, 2 from MP8, 4 from MP9, 3 from MP10. 2 FROM MP8? ONLY 2? Jesus...
