As predicted, the "limited-edition" Pokémon Oreos are now being listed on sites like eBay for some insane prices.
Although they only were around $4 USD a box, they're now being listed by scalpers for absolutely ridiculous amounts. Although some listings are quite reasonable - asking for a few dollars more, others are demanding hundreds and even thousands of dollars. Joke or not, it's still a bit much.
If you are a collector, there's also a catch, as there are 16 different designs in total. The harder to find one seems to be Mew - which has generated a lot of standalone listings. One sale wants $25,000 for one of these biscuits in "used" condition...yuck!

About the only positive we can take from all of this is that nobody actually seems to be bidding on any of the more ridiculous listings. It is just a cookie after all. If for some reason you are at all tempted to purchase a pack of these Oreos, just remember - they'll expire sooner or later.
Did you manage to get your hands on these Oreos for a reasonable price before these listings started appearing online? Would you pay a lot of money for themed food like this? Tell us down in the comments.

Hell yeah! I'll definitely pay millions for just one cookie
I find it dumb what Scalpers do now...
Takes me back to the old days of eBay.
I swear I remember my older brother showing me someone trying to sell a bag of snow on eBay in the early 2000's.
It should have a law to NOT selling items with outrageous price or the seller will be banned by doing so.
These listings are made in jest...surely.
This is now getting delusional. And it would be even more if people actually buy them for those prices.
I wonder how's the condition of that Super Mario Cereal right now, scalpers.
@ShadowWeaver421 Honestly scalpers are hella smart about this kind of stuff if you think about it
They'll charge ludicrous prices but there are always those few people who clearly couldn't give a crap about their disposable income that would blow their cash for something as stupidly useless as this and they walk away with all the money
I don't agree with it, but they know exactly what they're doing and as long as it works, they keep doing it
I went into Target last week and the shelf was full of these. Are they really that hard to find? I find it ridiculous that scalpers are targeting them so much.
......JUST...EAT....THE....DAMN....THING! :/
@Anti-Matter Disagree, while I find it moronic to buy a single cookie at this price, if someone else is willing to buy it at said price they should be able to.
I don’t even know what to say about this. But I ain’t surprised. If someone wants to buy some cookies for that price I won’t stop em.
i'm eating these right now...
... should i make millions off them instead? /s
At this.point I'm not even surprised anymore
You know, this brings to mind a few proverbs:
"A fool and his money, are soon parted"
"A sucker is born every minute"
"An ass, who blows through dollars, has no sense"
Now, I'm not one to tell others "how to spend your money" but, Cmon, man!
"Bet you cant afford it!" No serious seller would ever write such a stupid statement. 🤦♂️
All those good Oreo wasted.
What?! Like, I mean what?!!?
This is even dumber than the games because it's a cookie! You're supposed to eat the damn thing, so why spend 25 grand on an Oreo when you can get an entire pack from Target for $5?!
The ironic part is how this is food, and eventually that cookie is going to perish. Scalpers will stop at nothing to sell something "rare", even if it means hoarding perishable goods that in a few months time will barely even resemble a mew.
I can't I just can't.
And to think I just ate an entire bag of those the other night while playing cards and drinking beer with my friends.
They didn’t learn from Crystal Pepsi. You gotta wait at least 10 years before you try to sell it lol.
@Voidoflight
The oreos will be even more expensive in a few months...
"Limited edition Pikachu Oreo, realistic fur-like texture..."
What's hilarious about this to me particularly is that besides them being just plain-old Oreos with Pokemon designs, they aren't even uncommon in my area; pretty much every grocery store I've walked into the past few days still have a rack or shelf full of packets.
May the diabetes be with them?
Hah! I was actually just snacking on the Halloween themed oreos. I'm a wierdo who knows its just food coloring in the creme, but I like them the best! Maybe I'm the ijiot!
I just saw these today at the grocery store. Maybe if I buy all of them times 25. Hmm 🤔. I could make a killing or maybe I’ll just move on and think how dumb people are for paying $25 for $4 pack of cookies.
Yeah I think it's time to make scalping a crime if they're stooping to this low
..... what in the actual bleep is wrong with these people????
No, really, they need to seek help. This kind of greed puts Wario to shame. It's not healthy. This is absolutely ridiculous and needs to stop.
Scalpers are the worst, but if someone has a spare 25K to drop on a cookie, they have their own set of personal issues
I didn't know you could sell food items on ebay. Personally, I wouldn't trust food items unless purchased directly from a store vs some strangers home. Especially when it could be easily tampered with.
maybe past its expiration date will make it more costly 😂🤣😁
"Would you pay $25k for a "used" Mew cookie?"
No.
credits roll
I'd rather make my own Mew cookie
Now this is just taking the biscuit at this point! 😆
Ha! That is stupid.
Remember when eBay was new, where everyone was trying to sell something, I once tried to sell an odd sock on eBay for £1, but not surprisingly no one bid on it.
This article is almost as bad as those U.K 50 pence pieces that supposedly sell for £69,000, when in reality you can buy hundreds of the exact same coin for around £2, pure media hype, and just because someone bids the ludicrous amounts for these items, does not mean they actually pay for them.
i got 5 package of choose cookies thats funny to see people selling cookies to high price, i got one prince cookie package with super mario aswell
We all knew it would happen. None of us can act truly surprised by this.
@Tourtus ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Hard pass.
I got Mew on the first three cookies I got out of my Pokémon Oreos and am enjoying them the way they’re meant to be, to be eaten! Crazy world we live in lol.
@TheFrenchiestFry
The second a person with disposable income buys one of these, that's it: the market value is set, and people see "wow so someone WILL buy this for this price!"
And someone inevitably will, because FOMO is a hell of a thing.
We like to talk about people spending that kind of money as dumb, but obviously, they've done something right in their life to have that kind of money to spend in the first place.
They may have been born into the right family. Or picked the right numbers in the lottery. Or pulled the lever on the right slot machine.
Lots of possibilities.
We completely called this in the last comment section LOL. I don't know whether I should feel joy or disappointment at being correct.
Are they taking the piss 🤦♂️
@ShadowWeaver421 well I have a mew oreo if you want it for a better price 😉😏😎
People actually take these deals, and that keeps jacking up the prices.
