Re: Nintendo Download: 2nd March (Europe)

"we do intend to also obtain a copy of this Wii U iteration to provide some comparisons"

Of course you will but not after you review the switch version which is probably part of your embargo. I fully expect the WiiU version to be exactly the same as the switch version. Which is what the review will confirm once they finish praising the switch version. Anyone wanna put money on that?

Re: Preview: Immersing Ourselves in the World of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

OGGamer

I'm convinced that the reason we haven't seen much of the WIIU version is because it plays and looks EXACTLY the same as the switch version. Albeit with a 720p max resolution on the TV. The sound is confirmed to be better on the switch. I'm not fully convinced of that either though.

All of the WIIU footage we've seen thus far have been OLD footage. Not refined with Nintendo style final detail. We all know what Nintendo is capable of on their own hardware. They've been giving the shine to the switch version but get ready to read an article saying "graphical details on switch identical to WIIU version".

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Games & Release Dates 2017

OGGamer

Not a terrible list but certainly not one that says "OMG I have to buy the switch DAY 1!". At least for me anyway.

The ones I find really interesting are, blaz blue, Blaster master zero, Fire emblem warriors, Xenoblade 2, Super Mario Odyssey, shin megami tensei. Out of these only two are confirmed for this year. The others are TBA or are likely to be delayed. Especially Xenoblade 2. Later this year at that. So I'll be getting a switch later this year

Re: Video: Nintendo Comes Out Swinging With New ARMS Footage

OGGamer

This games looks alright. There's isn't enough variety in the gameplay to entice me. Even with the changing gloves mechanic it still looks very basic. Not enough frenetic combos for me. If the designed the characters to move like say, Luffy in one piece: Burning Blood, then I'd be more interested.

I believe this game is designed as more of a showcase for their HD rumble technology. It has to be slow moving so I get it. The game isn't designed with people like me in mind.

Re: Project CARS 2 Creative Director Loves Nintendo Switch, But Don't Expect A Port

OGGamer

Some people don't seem to understand that Nintendo is NOT interested in ports of games for other systems. They are more interested in having third parties develop original software for their system.

Sure there's Skyrim being released and that's great. It's not however their focus. If it were then they would have made the hardware equivalent of a ps4one. My question is what would we all rather have? Original games offering a variety of gameplay. Or ports of games that exist elsewhere? If I was after ports It would PC all day long baby. NO game system beats the performance of even a mid grade PC.

Also, the full capabilities of the system haven't been explored yet. As usual it will be up to Nintendo to show developers how capable their machine is. Let's just be patient and let the switch prove itself. Why does it need validation by means of ports?

Re: Feature: Five New Year's Resolutions for Nintendo

OGGamer

@khululy They had great marketing and 3rd party support. They also got the most out of the system. Making games that were thought impossible on the SNES specs.

None of these things have been seen from Nintendo since. I'd say it's time to stop repeating recent mistakes and use the tried and true methods of success. Don't change for the sake of change when it's going to be detrimental. They have a great product. Market that. They are not apple or Samsung who simply sell products on the name alone. They are a video game company and simply will not be successful selling their main product that way.

Re: Guide: The Best Nintendo Black Friday 2016 Deals in the US

OGGamer

@gatorboi352 I got a Sony flagship as a surprise anniversary gift. HDR, 3d, and all that jazz. I was willing to wait until 4k prices dropped. If I didn't already have my TV I wouldn't hesitate to get one of these. These are fantastic for budget shoppers. For any who can afford the higher end TVs those are on sale too. A $2000 Samsung SUHD for $1299 isn't too shabby.

Your comment makes it sound like these deals are a rip-off. Good luck trying to keep up with quickly outdated display technology.

Re: Guide: The Best Nintendo Black Friday 2016 Deals in the US

OGGamer

That 4k TV you have listed on Amazon isn't even the best deal on 4k. Check out Bestbuys 55" Samsung 4k for $479 or the 60" Lg 4k smart TV for $599. Theres also a 70" Sony 4k for $999. I'm not the biggest fan of Bestbuy but those are great prices for the size of the televisions with the latest tech.

Re: Rumour: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Won't Be Ready by March

OGGamer

Emily Rogers again?! 2 cups full of salt. The game will likely be delayed but I don't think it will be after E3. It'll be released sometime shortly after launch of the switch. I heard it from my cousin who works for Emily Rogers' assistant.

Day one switch buy is definitely unlikely now. Unless the release line up starts with a metroid title (a real one not that other trash). I'd pay it off in full right now if they announced that.

Re: Poll: Retro Delights and Stock Shortages - What Are Your Thoughts on the NES Mini Launch?

OGGamer

I was there for the original nes so I am most definitely not interested in this rehash. Instead of spending money on making this Nintendo should have used that cash to advertise the hell out of the upcoming switch. Or better yet advertise their now nearly dead WiiU.

If the switch is more like a slightly faster WiiU with a slight upgrade in visual fidelity then I'll be pretty disappointed. Considering the fact that they spent a bunch of cash on rereleasing a system from the eighties. An 8 bit system with HDMI output isn't going to do much for those blocky graphics. What a waste.

Re: Rumour: Last Wii U Consoles Roll Off The Production Line This Week

OGGamer

Awesome system. I still and always will love it. Some of the very best games on any system are available only on WiiU. As was the case for their previous systems.

I don't understand some of the comments about the hardware. I have never and I mean NEVER had ONE Nintendo console fail on me EVER. Starting with the nes and the Gameboy. Some of you guys and gals need to stop putting your drinks on your consoles. I had THREE Xbox 360 failures while 2 of my friends had their ps3's fail on them twice. I'm pretty confident that my WiiU and N3ds will outlast the consoles made by the other guys. Nintendo did rush the system a little but after the patch it ran nice and smooth. Nintendo always makes great hardware. They left chasing after horsepower years ago.

I agree that they absolutely need to change up their horrendous marketing. Some people didn't even know there was a new system out. Or if they had heard of the WiiU they thought it was a tablet for the Wii. Parents were heard telling their kids "you already have a Wii".(and those kids were boys badum bum ching!)

Some of the games are going to skyrocket in price. Two examples are Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Get em while they're reasonably priced. WiiU isn't dead in my home. My home is a haven for everything Nintendo and video games.

Re: Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) Heading to 3DS in Japan

OGGamer

Great as a dlc update for those who bought generations. Not so great as a separate game. It makes it seem as if this is the game generations SHOULD have been. I'm afraid I'm getting a little burnt out on MH. I thought I'd never say that because I absolutely love the series. These games being released so close together makes it difficult to achieve all you can in their previous incarnations. I'm still collecting things in mh4u while putting generations on pause.

If they release this for the switch I'll buy it. No hesitation. I will also get rid of generations on my 3ds (not 4u! love that game).

Re: Video: Game Center DX Shows Off The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

OGGamer

Game is running really smoothly. Animation looks great. The world is a bit barren though. I'm not really sure what they're going for. I do know that when I go hiking I don't see a bear every ten feet and herds of other forest creatures so it's not too different from reality. That being said Xenoblade x had a lot more going on in its environment. ZBOW is looking great however.

Re: Reaction: Our Early Thoughts on the Nintendo Switch

OGGamer

@Jamotello Perhaps there is functionality built into the switch that allows it to use the WiiU controller as a second screen? That will allow them to continue to sell that particular WiiU peripheral and recoup some of their lost income potential.

Far fetched I know. They've revealed alot but it always leaves a bunch of questions which we'll have answered soon enough.

Re: Reaction: Our Early Thoughts on the Nintendo Switch

OGGamer

Not a day one purchase yet but I'm intrigued. I'd like to see the full specs first. Will the processor on the tablet handle everything? Or is there an additional processor within the dock that multiplies the computing power for higher fidelity graphics on an hd or 4k screen? 720p on the tablet is fine but on a big TV? Not anymore I'm afraid. Not unless they keep the price super cheap which this thing won't be.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Has No Set Formula for Hardware Reveals, But NX is Testing Fans' Patience

OGGamer

They've lost my interest already. I have a backlog of great games to play. An anniversary coming up that has the Xbox one s written all over it (wife slipped up and told me). A 4k TV that's thirsty for more content which makes the one s with its built in UHD player a perfect fit for my gaming setup.

An NX reveal might've changed my mind. Now I'm content to wait a year or two to get one. Unless there's an NX metroid released within the first month of release I'm content holding on to my money.
