Re: Retail Version of DOOM on Switch Will Need a Download for Online Multiplayer

OGGamer

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Ignore all the hate man. Your comments are the most reasonable on here. If some of these super fans can't understand what an insult it is to pay full price for half a game then there's no hope in reaching them. They'll excuse any boneheaded decision. $39.99 would've been a more respectable price point. Still a bit high but more realistic for an inferior version of the game. Capcom still takes the Cake for overpriced BS.

I still feel that AAA third party support should be made up of ORIGINAL content built from the ground up specifically for the Switch. EA has come the closest so far.

Re: Switch Versions Of Oceanhorn And forma.8 Outsell Console Rivals

OGGamer

"The interest and attention is clearly there though, so 3rd parties are running out of excuses real fast."

I definitely agree with this. However Nintendo has created a challenging environment for itself and developers. Time is money and development studios want to spend less time making and porting their games. The Switch hardware is different enough to make porting either difficult or impossible. When a studio can port it's often a messy inferior one.

It would be nice to see studios making titles built from the ground up for switch. Studios these days don't seem to be too keen on spending time on another platform when they can just make one game and port it to a similarly powered machine. That goes back to time is money. Capcom spent time developing and optimizing resident evil 2 for the n64 to the point it was considered a technical marvel. Tatsunoko vs Capcom for the Wii is still, Imo, the best capcom vs fighting game out there. Bayonetta on WiiU performs and looks better than more than half of all PS4 and Xbox one games. There are other examples (Xenoblade Chronicles) but the point is studios need to be convinced. An indie studio with much less competition being successful won't do it. I hope it does open their eyes to the possibility.

Re: Resident Evil Revelations 1 & 2 Are Bringing the Horror to Switch on 28th November

OGGamer

If they're going to re-release something why not make it Tatsunoko vs Capcom HD? It's obvious there's no Monster Hunter World coming. Or XX for the west. No Marvel vs Capcom infinite. No Street fighter V. No Dragon Ball Fighterz or other unique fighting games. This is the perfect time for Capcom to re-release something that was totally unique to a Nintendo platform. Switch owners would eat it up just like they do all of the New Geo and retro re re re re re re re re re- releases as of late.

Re: Nintendo Throws Us Another Freebie With the Latest Zelda: Breath of the Wild Gift

OGGamer

@thesilverbrick I've owned every Nintendo home console. I bought them all day 1. I also had the original Gameboy then skipped handhelds until the 3ds. Played every Zelda and Mario title with Metroid being my favorite series of all time. As a publisher Nintendo is untouchable. I love their IPs. So you are totally wrong about me not being a Nintendo gamer. Yes, the WiiU library was a desert it's first year but Pikmin 3 craps all over 80% of the switch games out now. Pretty sad. You would think they've learned. Instead you're paying a premium for games that were already released on the Wii and WiiU VC as well as the mediocre of the Indies that are available on other consoles and PC.

Nintendo is antiquated when it comes to their business structure. Everything from their pricing (insulting discounts) to their hardware. Their philosophy on games seems to be "we'll tell you what you like not the other way around". People on here tend to be apologists when it comes to Nintendo.

I'm glad you have games to look forward to. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is going to be amazing. I look forward to playing it in a couple of years when there's a more substantial switch library. While you do that I'll be knee deep in Horizon zero Dawn, Nier automata, Nex Machina, Dragons Crown, Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Matterfall, Dragon Ball Fighterz, Monster Hunter World, Gravity Rush 2, Ni no kuni 2, Berserk, Gundam Fighters, and so so much more.

Re: Nintendo Throws Us Another Freebie With the Latest Zelda: Breath of the Wild Gift

OGGamer

@thesilverbrick It is NOT blowing the WiiU out of the water. The switch, so far, has a lackluster library and it's sad to see Nintendo fans pine over rehashes and premium priced rereleases. As well as just plain trashy games. The switch is more Neo Geo 3.0 than Snes part 2.

A Nintendo only gamer is missing out on some truly amazing games. I waited to get a PS4 until early this year and I'm still drooling over all of the amazing titles. Including those from smaller publishers. Not to mention the great sales Sony has on a regular basis. I just picked up The strider remake for under $4. The Switch can definitely wait. It's not worth the price of admission right now. When Metroid comes out on switch ( which won't be for a LONG time) then I'll jump in. Maybe the library would have fleshed out a bit more by then.

Re: Sledgehammer Games Has a Definitive Answer on Call of Duty: WWII for Nintendo Switch - "No"

OGGamer

At least he gave a straight answer. Don't hold your breath waiting for any COD to show up on the switch.

Those who are waiting for third party support to build up just need to accept the fact that it's not happening this year. Or maybe not even next year. This year is all about Nintendo exclusives. Apparently neo geo ports as well.

I feel for Nintendo only gamers. There's a lot to miss out on. You can say "I don't care about third parties" but all I see when third parties say "it's not coming to Nintendo" is complaints. I'm currently playing through Nier Automata and it's a masterpiece of a game. There are many others like it that'll never be on switch. Thats a damn shame too. What Switch owners need to hope for is third party games built from the ground up exclusively for Switch. That's going to be awhile.

Re: Rainway Developer Shows App In Action On Nintendo Switch

OGGamer

I'm not convinced by the screenshots alone. I'd like to see the app running for more than a half hour with no changes in signal. It's a great concept. There are still plenty of questions though. What kind of internet speeds are needed for optimal performance? How does Nintendo feel about the ability to stream emulators onto their console?

I have a PS4 pro but I still think that if you have a switch and a PC your gaming needs are all set. The Switch is the perfect companion console. Being able to stream PC games would make it even more compelling. For players like us it's great. However a company like Nintendo that exists to make money won't see it that way.

Re: Dragon Ball FighterZ Could Come To Switch If The Demand Is There, Says Producer

OGGamer

Buy the systems that have the games you want. Brand loyalty is a waste of time and an exercise in frustration when it comes to video games. With Nintendo all you have to do is look at their recent history. If you choose to ignore that then its not the third parties fault. They, like Nintendo, want to maximize their profits. They don't love you, the consumer, they love making a profit.

I love Nintendo games. I just don't like their game plan. Which is why I dumped brand loyalty years ago.

Re: Nintendo Infographic Outlines Switch and 3DS Games for 2017

OGGamer

Some of the comments on here show how deprived Nintendo only gamers are. "WOAH this lineup is great. Praise be to Nintendo!"

On this list of releases you have , rehashes, rereleases, and games that were released on the PS Vita. Just looking at this list convinced me to take the approach third parties are taking with the Switch. Wait and see.

Xenoblade 2 looks great but not enough for me to buy run out and buy a switch. I'll wait for Metroid prime 4 to come out. By then the library will be fleshed out and I'll also get Xenoblade 2 then. It's PS4 and PC for me.

Re: New Nikkei Report Accuses Konami Of Blacklisting Past Employees

OGGamer

Konami has had a nasty reputation for years. One good thing that came from that is the creation of Treasure. Which can be credited with some of the greatest action games ever.

Konami has some great IP's but can't keep their talent around because of their pettiness. Punishing ex employees further is downright nasty. May Konami disappear into a black hole never to be seen again.

Re: Monster Hunter: World Confirmed for Rival Platforms, is Skipping Nintendo Switch

OGGamer

Monster hunter world looks pretty generic graphically speaking. I'll have to see how the gameplay holds up. It looks like a unreal engine 3/ gears of war/ monster hunter mashup. Not exactly riveting.

If Capcom made a monster hunter for switch that ran at 60fps with graphics akin to Bayonetta 2 then THAT would be THE MH game. Monster hunter world just looks a bit drab and soulless. If it plays like monster hunter though it'll be hard to pass up. Capcom has made no mention of Marvel vs Capcom infinite on switch either. Don't tell me switch can't run that.

Nintendo is up soon. I hope they have some surprises in store because so far they haven't convinced me to spend my hard earned cash on a switch yet. Mario doesn't cut it for me. So far the new games I want are with the other guys. Which includes Dragonball fighter(z) by Arcsystem works. I'm a huge Xenoblade Chronicles fan. So there is that.

Re: Battle Chasers And Sine Mora EX Are Getting Physical Releases On Switch, At A Cost

OGGamer

@tanookisuit That's cute. I never said it was a conspiracy. I currently run a VERY successful business. I charge more than my competitors and stay busy every day of the week. Why? Because I offer more than my competitors do. You have to pay for that "more". That's not what you're getting here. Nice try though. Maybe Nintendo will give you a gold star for coming to their defense?

You'll be paying $10 MORE for each software purchase. Whether it's the same or an inferior product. How many switch software purchases do you plan on making? 10, 20, 100? If each of those software purchases is $10 above it's counterparts how much money did you lose? I'll let you do the math kiddo. An example will be FIFA 2018. It's an inferior product that will be priced the same as it's superior counterparts. You can be a sucker if you want. Just don't expect everyone to join you.

Let me know if you want more tips on how not to throw money away.

Re: Battle Chasers And Sine Mora EX Are Getting Physical Releases On Switch, At A Cost

OGGamer

Of course it puts me off! If the same game is cheaper somewhere else then that's where I'll buy it. $10 more for the same game is a rip-off. Some of you kids on here will learn that once you start paying bills, purchasing vehicles, hiring labor.

You do pay more for quality. You don't pay more when the quality is the same no matter where you purchase it from. That's like saying a Snickers bar purchased at Neiman Marcus is worth more than one purchased at Walmart. Don't just easily hand your money over kids.

Re: FIFA 18 Producer Explains Why You Should Care About The Game On Switch

OGGamer

This game is going to tank. This interview was very simple. "We've created a gimped version of FIFA 2018 for switch". How do you know it's gimped? Simple, it doesn't have ALL of the features as it's counterparts. To make matters worse it will be priced the same as the other complete versions of the game (games aren't really complete anymore but you get what I mean).

This will be their LAST game on switch. When it does tank then EA will say something like "we haven't come up with a viable way to continue making games for switch without compromising the quality of our products. Nintendo fans deserve better."

Let's face it. In order for third parties to create quality content that content has to be ORIGINAL. That means that every game they make has to be built from the ground up exclusively for specific hardware. Which is what EA is trying here and I applaud such effort but EA can't be trusted. I get it. They're a business and they need to make money. However they left a nasty taste in the mouths of MANY for their "unprecedented" relationship with Nintendo in the past generation. I won't soon forget that.

Re: Editorial: The Nintendo Switch, E3 and Its Opportunities for Quick Wins

OGGamer

Third parties. Third PARTIES. THIRD PARTIES! What is Nintendo doing to encourage third party support? That's what I'd like to see at E3. Example: ARC system works has a new 3 vs 3 Dragon ball Z 2D fighting game coming out. Fighting games are a HUGE market. So far support is mentioned for PS4, Xbox, and PC. Why is Switch no where to be found? 2D fighting isn't demanding so why no mention of switch support?

That's just ONE example. Nintendo needs to get away from the trend of being the red headed step child for third party developers. It only hurts them in the end.

Re: Deals: Nintendo Switch - Upcoming Goodies For May And June

OGGamer

@faint Of course I'd pay up.

I wouldn't say this would never be sixty. Look at ultra Street fighter 2. That's a rip off of a price if I ever saw one. A newly released Nintendo system is always going to inflate the prices of even it's garbage physical releases. Tank Tank Tank! Was 59.99 upon release on WiiU. Need I say more?

Re: Feature: 30 Games We Might Get On The SNES Mini Classic Edition

OGGamer

I'd switch out a couple of those for mega Man x 1-3. I would also add Hagame, Rendering Ranger and super turrican.

Nintendo should have a SNES classic download for the switch. That way those who want the hardware option can buy the SNES mini. Those who just want the games can download everything available on the SNES mini onto their switch.
