Awesome! 3ds backwards compatibility confirmed😜 They should make them nice and sleek akin to the turbo grafix 16/PC engine. The NX finally got interesting for me.
I can't believe the best game on the atari Jaguar hasn't been mentioned in the comments. Primal rage! A great port of the arcade version. Almost got a Jaguar for that one.
Twenty bucks seems a little steep for this game. There are still games that I can get that have gotten stellar reviews for the same, or close to the same, price.
So here's where I am right now. I have a 10% discount birthday coupon that I can use towards a game at Bestbuy or GameStop. Should I get axiom verge? Or should I use my coupon and buy Bayonetta 2?
@Freelance The fans are the ones who will spend THEIR money on the products. Fans don't have to earn anything it's companies like Nintendo that need to work on gaining and keeping the fans' loyalty and money I might add.
So I would say Nintendo or Sony or Microsoft or ANY corporation are the ones who don't "deserve" anything. They want the money? They have to earn it through quality products. Do the fans deserve a quality product? Yes. Yes they do.
I don't know if you're a kid or not but if you are the next statement is for when you grow up (not meant as an insult). If you have someone that you've hired before to work on your house or your car that has done high quality work, you would expect them to do the same level of work next time. What if they don't? What if it's crappy work? Then you tell them "hey why is this work crappy when you did such a good job last time?" Now this person tells you "well what makes you think you deserve a high quality product? Because you paid for it? LOL". I'm sure no paying customer would be ok with that.
I run a home improvement business and I reward loyal customers with discounts and the like. Why? Because they deserve it and I want their continued business.
Just bought Gunstar Heroes and Space Harrier. These are my first Sega 3D classics and I must say M2 did an amazing job. Nintendo should be ashamed to be outdone on their own hardware when it comes to retro games. Contra 3, super metroid, Axelay even super ghouls and ghosts would've been great if given the same treatment.
M2 and Sega have given a second life to some great games. Now do Ranger X and thunder force 4/Lightening force!(I know not Sega but still)
$185?! No thanks. I think I'll use that $185 towards an Xbox 1S for $299. I'll get a new games console with a built in UHD player to compliment my 4k TV.
@bluedogrulez Exactly! I can see that kind of dedication for a fighter where the fps count more. I don't see a dip in fps in a frenetic shooter being a big problem. In some cases it's a bit of a break.
I still play Gradius V regularly and that game is freaking amazing. On the ps2 for crying out loud. Don't tell me that developing a 2. 5d shooter on a system 2 generations removed from the ps2 is that much more difficult.
I just bought the starfox zero/starfox guard game set at Bestbuy for 29.99 during their black Friday in July sale. I can genuinely say I don't get the complaints people make about the controls at all. I find them intuitive and easy. Unless you have three thumbs or something like that.
As for not being as good as starfox 64 I also disagree. The reason many are saying that 64 did it better is because all of the secrets get revealed BEFORE the game is even released! Theres nothing to discover because game articles and videos show you everything. During the 64 era we were still buying EGM and didn't have near the amount of spoilers we're prone to today.
I highly recommend starfox zero. It's a great fun game.
Oh hell yeah! I'm a shmup fanatic! Instabuy from me on my 3ds. 3ds needs more shmups. I can never have enough. Ikaruga, radiant silvergun, Axelay, Thunderforce 3-5, Gradius 1-5 (V is incredible on ps2), Dodonpachi, Rtype, pulstar, blazing star, metal black, Gate of thunder, Lords of Thunder, I can go on and on ahhhh!!! I love them..
@0upshroom7 I love that game so much. Are you talking about the final story boss or one of the super bosses? I'm trying really hard not to spoil any game elements.
This has become a day one purchase for me. The visuals have seen a definite improvement. It has that star fox 64 quality to it but the enemy designs scream platinum games.
It's also good to see some organic levels instead of just being cold and mechanical. Those parts give me a panzer dragoon orta feel. Can't wait for this to come out!
"I was suffering burnout". This is certainly understandable. I will point out that in my opinion it would've been better to suffer burnout as a result of one excellent release as opposed to several mediocre to terrible releases.
Take as an example Dust an elysian tale that was released as a downloadable title for the Xbox 360. That game is awesome with high production values. It's also a beautiful game. The developer spent four years on it and it shows. It's such a great title that it was re-released on the ps4.
Put in that kind of time and effort into all your work and you will always reap the rewards.
@Lilith93 That's exactly the route i'm taking. I thoroughly enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles so much in large part due to the exploration.
Defeating that level 18 monster and yet still woefully underpowered to take on the level 60. Yet even at level 60 still getting your butt handed to you by a level 81. Super rare items that you finally get after 2 hours of searching... Ahhh I love it!
Oh shinen why do you torture me so? I will be neck deep in Xenoblade Chronicles x when this releases but I still want to support shinen. If money isn't too tight next week I'll buy it on day 1 even if I'm not going to play right away.
Great article! Xenoblade Chronicles is most definitely one of the best games in my 30 years of gaming. I clocked 185 hours and still had secret bosses to fight. Its such a memorable experience. I hope X lives up to its lofty expectations.
I know that we've seen alot of what this game has to offer but I don't feel that anything was spoiled one bit. It's just so massive. I know that this game will be a black hole for me. It'll be work after many late nights of gaming. Return home to planet Mira for some more yeeeaahh! I love Xenoblade and I can't wait to become a melee attacking force of nature!
@Bolt_Strike I had no idea my opinions meant so much to you, I'm flattered!
Look man (boy?) this is obviously more important to you than it is to me. Gaming is just a hobby to me not something I build my life around. This is a forum where people can express their opinions. Even if they don't revovle around your particular tastes. So please try and keep it classy.
Perhaps, but I also said its just an opinion. I don't find myself returning to those other games the way I do super metroid. I don't find them as engaging. Super metroid is the classic car that you keep nice and shiny and just love to joy ride in. Whereas zero mission is the newer model of the car that looks nice and no one ever mentions after a few years. You can feel free to like it better though. You're absolutely entitled to that.
Zero mission falls in the category of an imitation. It's a remake of the first metroid and borrows elements from super metroid. Its a visual improvement over both games but in my opinion zero mission still plays second fiddle to super metroid. Someone mentioned shadow complex earlier which is another good game but still an imitator. To me and maybe just to me super metroid is timeless. We are talking about a game that was released in 1994 that still is arguably one of the greatest games ever made. The imprint left by super metroid will last for years to come. That can't be said for zero mission. Again that's just my opinion.
Most definitely one of the greatest games of all time. Often imitated never duplicated. Super metroid, metroid prime, ocarina of time and Xenoblade Chronicles are in a tug of war for my top spot. I love them ALL, but super metroid has been my number one more than any other and I've been gaming for thirty years on all systems.
Besides Xenoblade CX this is my most anticipated WiiU game. I love run and gun shmup hardcore action! Just to be clear has it been delayed? Or is the delay just presumed?
Love me some neo geo games. I wish there were more Garou mark of the wolves, pulstar, blazing star, last resort, galaxy fight, waku waku 7 and much more on the wiiu VC.
I like the new super move mechanic being added to all weapons instead of just one like the charge blade in mh4u. It adds a sense of power to the characters. As if they would actually stand a chance against giant monsters with their armor and weapons. Also being able to jump with them as well. It's good to see capcom building on their ideas.
I really wish there was a solid release date. This and Rive are on my must buy list I just hope that they are not released too close together. I've got bills to pay!
Rive and Freedom planet were great! I can't wait for those to release. I'm not sure why people were having issues with Rive it ran silky smooth on my system.
With the exception of Xenoblade Chronicle s X there was nothing that excited me. I'm much more interested in Nintendo's Indy scene right now. At least Ninty is releasing a new starfox.
@c1pher_c0mplet Not for me! I haven't touched my wiiu even with smash bros since I got my new n3ds in march. As my first 3ds I specifically got it for mh4u but the sheer size of the library is amazing. Along with the DS games I have never played my back log is huge. Only some Indy games on wiiu interest me for now many of which are future releases. Only Xenoblade X can pull me off of mh4u right now but there's no firm release date for the U.S. The 3ds reigns as king in my house I love that thing.
Nano assault EX for me. I am glad I checked today because I had decided to buy it for full price tomorrow. So far I love it! Great use of 3d and it looks fantastic for a 3ds game.
When you know where to look it's not aimless . It is however a waste of time when the stores don't have them and the very websites you indicate say "will be in stock 2/26 , 2/29 " or " we don't know when we are getting more " per Sales manager In target . And you really need to stop acting as if you are the only one with a brain that can look online for stores with stock . If you live in an area with an abundance congrats ! Just don't act as if everyone's circumstances and geographic location are the same as yours .
@russellohh The only store that had "dozens" in my area was Walmart so that's where I bought mine and they only had three left when I got there . I don't know what country you live in that had new 3ds' spilling out of the stores but in my area most places were sold out . GameStop was my first , sold out in a half hour then told me that all gamestops in the area were sold out , best buy next , they had A dozen , sold out early morning (I'm at work) . I went to Target sold out . I got curious and asked the girl how many they got in , she said three . Three of the damn things .
You can't be mad at HypersonicEXE for being frustrated that a video game retailer had none for walk in customers . I think that's ridiculous as well . They should have more than anyone .
Also , not including a charger for a $200 item is an asinine decision on Nintendo's part . Especially since it is needed . It does not matter if you already have a 3ds .The charger should have been included period.
@sketchturner That reads right from the back of the gamecube Ikaruga case! And I agree , Bring It ! Old school difficulty , memorization and timing I love it .
The fact that most of the roster was available from the beginning combined with the character reveals online really ruined the element of surprise . Part of the fun was discovering the requirements on your own . The games have gotten easier and easier to the point where I see why many have lost interest , like me . I've gone from several hundred hours on melee to maybe 200 on brawl to about 10 or 15 on smash u . Part of the reason is that almost everything is available right from the beginning ! No fun in my opinion .
@Bazly Ditto on all counts good sir . I own a business and yes like all business owners I want to make money . That being said my customers are my source of income , period . If anyone thinks it's a good idea for me (or any business /company) to lose their customers because I made a decision FOR them based on what I thought was best without asking , well then entrepreneurship isn't for you .
Think about it this way . You go to a restaurant and order a steak with steamed veggies and a coke but instead your waiter brings you water and fish . You should just accept it because they don't owe you anything right ? They're in business to make money . Giving you fish and water was cheaper therefore a better business decision . Would you be okay with that ?
One of my great love's on the Wii . Sunk 185 hours into this game and even after beating it....well now you can find out for yourself ; ) This is a fantastic game ! Wayyyyyyyy better than that mess of a game called skyward sword . In my opinion of course .

You should just accept it because they don't owe you anything right ? They're in business to make money . Giving you fish and water was cheaper therefore a better business decision . Would you be okay with that ?

I will be getting the regular 3ds that people will be selling for 50 bucks so that they can upgrade to the new 3ds

One of my great love's on the Wii . Sunk 185 hours into this game and even after beating it....well now you can find out for yourself ; )
This is a fantastic game ! Wayyyyyyyy better than that mess of a game called skyward sword . In my opinion of course .
