As long as they are free they will be successful. Super Mario Run didn't meet expectations since it wasn't free, yet FE: Heroes did. And hopefully they don't make an F-Zero or Metroid mobile game, that would drive me nuts.
Well this guarantees that the 3DS family isn't going anywhere. 6 years in, this could go on for a whole decade if it sticks around for another 4 years. It's a smart device, since it will expand an already huge player base. A lot of people have yet to get one because the 2DS doesn't close, and the screens are huge while the design is sleek. Also it's only $150.
I think E3 will be heavily focused on Super Mario Odyssey while still addressing other Switch and 3DS games. They will probably announce a few new 3DS games and plenty of Switch exclusives. Mobile won't be a focus since they aren't ready to announce anything. Just tell us we can transfer E-Shop games!
They did a pretty great job with this game, and their enthusiasm for new features makes it sound like these people are fans of the series. I wonder if these features will ever be made?
If they learn from their mistakes with the NES Classic then it could be a smash hit. It needs to actually meet demand and limited to one pre order per person. Also it needs a longer cord.
I never really noticed it on Mariokart 8 online (and I played tons of it), but I'm not against getting rid of it. If they didn't patch it out of the Wii U version since it was like a secret feature/glitch then that's fine, but removing it from the DEFINITIVE version of the game was a must.
The big takeaway from this direct is that the 3DS is alive and kicking, and there are a lot of Nintendo games on the horizon for both the Switch and 3DS. Also I am a huge Splatoon fan (and salmon run looks fun), but I'm starting to worry that they are rushing this thing. It looks very similar to the original, and we have no info about the story or other new modes. Hopefully it has a big E3.
I would agree if it weren't a $60 retail game with another $70 tacked on for extra joy cons. Splatoon wasn't worth $60 initially, but it became more than worth it by the end of launch. This game has less than 10 characters and costs too much to get into. It doesn't have enough content to justify buying $130 worth of stuff.
This is just plain dumb on Nintendo's part. It's clear that there was a lot of demand and it would have made them a lot of money. It makes no sense to get rid of this possible revenue stream, but that's their loss. I would have liked to have one, but it won't keep me up at night. It had a short cord anyways.
Splatoon 2 is going to be the wow factor in this direct, since they will make it seem way more like a sequel rather than Splatoon 1.5. Arms... we will see I guess
I just hope that no matter what it gets released on, it gets localized. They have localized so many DQ games recently, and the Switch could use a great rpg (the 3DS could be easier to port it to instead of building it for Switch).
I haven't played XC yet (too big of a game to download and tooo expensive to buy used) and I'm only halfway though XCX. However, I think certain parts of the XCX soundtrack are good (boss battles and themes for the outside areas), but the New L.A songs are bad.
That's really cool. While waiting for rain sucks, it adds so much realism to the game, and the campfires that you can make to skip the rain kind of stop it from being a problem.
From here on out the games (specifically the exclusives) will determine how successful it is. They seem to have fixed that stock issue as well. While a port of BOTW is a great launch game, it had practically nothing else. It is selling well and it has positive reviews, so it's off to a good start.
Judging by the traditional history of the Zelda franchise, I would say the next large scale game we see will be 4-5 years from now. With that said, the Switch is both a console and a handheld, so we will probably see a smaller scale game similar to one you would see on a handheld. It will be a more traditional Zelda game to serve as the opposite of BOTW.
I'm really looking forward to this one. I think Awakening was amazing and I think Conquest is a little bit better than what most people think of it (Birthright seems a bit weaker). And I'm also kind of glad that marriage is gone in this one, since I thought it was pretty lame in Fates (especially the personal quarters part). Now you will want to keep characters alive because they are great soldiers, not because you ship them.
It feels like they never had this confidence in the Wii U and that's why it never had their full support. The new confidence in the Switch is promising, and I'm hoping 3rd parties agree.
I've been playing since launch and these changes sound good to me. They have done a nice job updating the game on a weekly basis while adding stuff like new heroes and missions.
I have the Wii U version and I have no problem playing it. The graphics are almost identical to the Switch version and I rarely encounter frame rate issues.

Re: Nintendo of America Spent Big on Switch TV Advertising in March
Considering the Wii U got pretty much no marketing, it's good to know Nintendo is actually trying to make this thing succeed.
Re: Nintendo Reveals "The Master Trials", the First DLC Pack for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
This is a lot of cool stuff for just one dlc pack. I wonder what the other 2 will have?
Re: Nintendo To Publish "Two To Three" Smartphone Titles Per Year

Re: Capcom Wants You To Know That It's Taking The Nintendo Switch Very Seriously
Marvel v.s Capcom 4 would be great
Re: New Nintendo 2DS XL Announced, Releases 28th July
A market exists for it (even though it's a small one). People who haven't bought one yet or people who want to upgrade will buy it.

Re: Nintendo Veteran Genyo Takeda Is Retiring As A Company Director
Hopefully he enjoys retirement, he helped create some amazing stuff.
Re: Feature: What We Expect From Nintendo's Annual Financial Reports
@IceClimbers
Hopefully you are right! The only reading I don't mind mobile Nintendo games is because we know they are making main series versions at the same time.

Re: New Nobunaga's Ambition Title Confirmed For Nintendo Switch
This looks cool, and the Switch could use a strategy game (these are strategy games right?). Hopefully it gets localized at least on the Eshop.

You monsters on team Marie thought you had won, but really we all lost.

That's actually pretty cool.

Re: Bandai Namco Files a Patent for Pac-Man Maker
Pacman levels would be lots of fun to make so hopefully it's something similar to Mario Maker.
Re: Arzest Emerges as Developer of Hey! Pikmin
It will be up to reviews to determine whether or not I'm getting this one...
Re: Video: Here's Exactly What's New And Different In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Not enough to warrant a launch day purchase.

Re: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia File Size and DLC Details Emerge in Japan
This game looks great (and I'll definitely get it), but Fire Emblem DLC isn't something I'm interested in. It's just more maps you can risk units on!

Splatoon 2 is going to be the wow factor in this direct, since they will make it seem way more like a sequel rather than Splatoon 1.5. Arms... we will see I guess
Re: Feature: What We Expect From the Nintendo Direct - 12th April
And maybe some localizations for both the Switch and 3DS and Wii U rerelease announcements.
Re: Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time Gets 3DS Release Date in Japan, But No Switch Details
I just hope that no matter what it gets released on, it gets localized. They have localized so many DQ games recently, and the Switch could use a great rpg (the 3DS could be easier to port it to instead of building it for Switch).
Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For 12th April - Focused on Splatoon 2, ARMS and More
Lets hope for some strong first party games for both the 3DS and Switch. Maybe a localized boxboy collection? Or some Wii U ports?
Re: Talking Point: PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio Draw Battle Lines, But Nintendo Goes Its Own Way With Switch
Nintendo's console is more accessible and cheaper to develop for compared to these two fancy PCs in disguise.
Re: LEGO City: Undercover Sells Best on Switch in UK as Yo-kai Watch 2 Endures Poor Launch
I think the original Yokai watch benefited from a drought in new Pokémon games, and now that sun and moon launched there isn't much demand.
Re: A New Mythical Pokémon For Sun and Moon is a Mysterious Marshmallow, It Seems
It's a pretty great design honestly, and the typing if cool too. Hopefully it's available soon and not a year after Japan gets it.

Re: Review: Tank Troopers (3DS eShop)
This game definitely needed online multiplayer, and the fact that's it's not included is a deal breaker for me.
Re: Video: Retro-Style Action RPG Kamiko Looks A Safe Bet For Western Switch Release
It doesn't look too bad.
Re: Aonuma Says That Open World Is Here to Stay in Zelda Games
I was hoping this was the case, but will the world be this big in future games?
Re: Realistic Puddles Are Reason #243 That Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Is Awesome
That's really cool. While waiting for rain sucks, it adds so much realism to the game, and the campfires that you can make to skip the rain kind of stop it from being a problem.

Re: The Splatoon U.S. Inkling Open Has a Trip to E3 Up for Grabs
This sounds cool but I wish Splatoon 2 would just add a tournament mode.
Re: Guide: How To Shield Surf Like A Pro In Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild
I like the korok seeds that require shield surfing. This game has so many neat details like this that add to the experience.
Re: FDG Entertainment Wants to Know if We'd Like Monster Boy on Cartridge for Nintendo Switch
Why not? It would sway a lot more people to buy it.
Re: Super Mario Run is Now Live on Android
@nobboysbro @Alex0714
They said they are making more soon for they end of March but you never know with Nintendo.
Re: Editorial: After The Bold Brilliance Of Breath Of The Wild, Where Can Zelda Go Next?

Re: Nintendo of America Reveals a Lovely Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Limited Edition
If this doesn't sell out then maybe I can get it. But while the extras are nice I'm not sure if it's worth an extra $20.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Upgraded Confidence in Switch is a Relief
It feels like they never had this confidence in the Wii U and that's why it never had their full support. The new confidence in the Switch is promising, and I'm hoping 3rd parties agree.
Re: Denis Dyack Thinks Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes Could Come To Nintendo Switch
It would be awesome, but the evidence doesn't really show any signs of it happening. Plus, isn't Konami into casinos now?
Re: A Large Update Is Coming to Fire Emblem Heroes in April
I've been playing since launch and these changes sound good to me. They have done a nice job updating the game on a weekly basis while adding stuff like new heroes and missions.
Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Wii U)
Even on Wii U it's an amazing experience, since it has no glaring technological problems and doesn't lack in the graphical department.
Re: Nintendo Has Reportedly Sold 1.5 Million Switch Consoles Worldwide
The attachment rate on Zelda will be insane. The other games on the system will be the true test of whether or not it's a success.
Re: Video: Zelda: Breath of the Wild Given More Framerate 'Stress Tests' on Wii U and Switch
I have the Wii U version and I have no problem playing it. The graphics are almost identical to the Switch version and I rarely encounter frame rate issues.
