Former Silicon Knights boss Denis Dyack may be more concerned with posting videos regarding quantum mechanics than developing video games these days, but he's still involved in the industry and continues to plug away at Shadow of the Eternals, the spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness - one of his former studio's most beloved releases.
Silicon Knights was also responsible for the GameCube remake of Metal Gear Solid, and Dyack seems pretty confident about the chances of the title coming to the Nintendo Switch in one form or another:

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes could well be released as a Virtual Console title, but it's impossible to rule out Konami suddenly seeing sense and producing a remastered edition - how Dyack would know about that happening is anyone's guess, however.

Whilst i would absolutely love this game on switch as i loved it on the cube, i fear he is just saying yes in response to would it be legal.
That might be nice - the disc copy seems to fetch a high price currently. Perhaps getting one of the other HD re-issues on another console might be a better way to experience the game however. Though portability would not be something to be sniffed at. I really enjoyed MGS3 on 3DS.
I think - as Dyack probably gets a lot of similar tweets - he's more than likely misread this particular question and the 'Yes' answer relates to whether it's feasibly possible, not will it be a real thing.
I don't think there's any chance of this coming to any Nintendo platform
It would be awesome, but the evidence doesn't really show any signs of it happening. Plus, isn't Konami into casinos now?
I really hope this happens. In a world of upresed ports, Twin Snakes stands as a shining example of how a remake should be done. It would be great if more people could play it without paying eBay prices. Hopefully they'll also release the GBC Metal Gear Solid aka Ghost Babel because that game is amazing too.
Can't see why not,even the psvita got 2 HD MGS games and the 3ds got a MGS game
bring over ALL the metal gear solid games, even pachinko; and ALL the silent hill games, even p.t.
Personally I'm not fussed. Owned/played it for da'Cube back in the day, not won over. Felt very archaic and plodding. However, any re-release which takes power out of the hands of the scalpers and back in the fans is a yes vote for me.
I never played it. I could have bought it recently for €30 and i didn't. That said the MGS franchise is a favourite of mine. Love it.
Metal gear twin snakes, was the best metal gear ever made. Those that came after where kinda boring in my opinon.
So yeah a remastered edition is welcome in my collection. Add some multiplayer etc.
Still have my Cube copy in mint condition.
Sells for a pretty penny too..
I would love for this to be released on Switch to play on the go.
It's Konami, of course it'll come to the GCN VC if it happens. Easy money, charge €20 (prob more) for it instead of 'remastering' it.
No brainer really. But how he knows is anyone's guess.
He was asked if there was a chance. He said yes. This means almost nothing. Not sure why more is being read from it. There's a chance I'll stumble upon a 100 dollar bill today that nobody claims. Yes, there is a chance.
Anyhow, the GameCube library on the Switch is an interesting proposition. I wonder if that's E3's secret and availability happens almost immediately. Super Mario Sunshine would be a nice holdover until the new end of year Mario.
@NintySnesMan Despite not having a high definition screen
It could happen. Konami did no work on it for the Gamecube. Nintendo payed for it and Silicon Knights did all the work. Konami like easy money for little effort so you never know. ~cough~Superbomberman R~cough~
After playing the Twin Snakes, my psx version of MGS was never played again such a quality remake. The Gamecube era was great in so much as Nintendo really tried to get many varied games and developers on board.
The Gamecube was criminally overlooked and full of little gems like this that many ps2 players missed. I hated the ps2 and never understood its popularity as the Xbox, dreamcast and the gamecube were superior imo. Oh well there's no accounting for taste is there?
Doubt it, but i guess we'll see. . . .
mgs is my favourite game of all time. i never played the gamecube remake though.
This is entirely Konami's choice and has very little to do with him. And even if they did decide to do it I doubt they'd involve him given Silicon Knights' reputation these days.
I hope he's right and does know something though. Metal Gear Collection anyone
Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid Remastered (PS1 version with updated graphics)
Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes Remastered (Gamecube version in HD with Nintendo references intact)
Metal Gear Solid 2 HD
Metal Gear Solid 3 HD
Metal Gear Solid 4
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (this one would be incredible on switch control wise)
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes
Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain
All in one collection for switch Wildly unrealistic based on Konami's behaviour of late but hey we can all dream right
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Spot on: Nintendo licensed and financed it so, similar to Bayonetta 2, they hold at least some of the rights to this particular game.
I hope they work a deal out with Konami to free this up for release on Switch.
@aaronsullivan I would love to see Gamecube VC games announced at E3. Think I'd go out and buy a Switch right away if I could get Super Mario Sunshine on it.
The MGS remake looks cool too. Haven't played it before, just the original on the PS1.
Would certainly be nice, and with Bomberman doing quite well Konami may be in favour of doing it.
"Continues to plug away on Shadows Of The Externals"
What are you taking about? There has been no new footage of that game since it's failed Kickstarter like 3 years ago. It is vaporware and will never actually exist as a game.
I don't see any evidence that he is still involved in the industry in any meaningful way. He is nothing more then a bull.
I'll stick with the PS1 original.
@Menchi187
Lol I know what you mean,they was hd on ps3 and 360 so they just kept the HD name when it came to vita. I must say though they look good on the oled screen,obviously better than when they first come out on ps2. But yeah many vita games have the HD tag because of cross-buy with ps3 and ps4,but as we know this isn't the case with the vita version of the games.
Don't care much for Twin Snakes, the new soundtrack is garbage and ruins the entire game for me.
I don't care about Metal Gear, give me Eternal Darkness!!!!
@PorllM
I would love to see this.
@gamermole I'm almost sure he only answered yes from a legal standpoint. MGS TS is one of my favorite games on the GCN. Can you imagine a remake with some new textures and a resolution bump?
Curse the lack of analog triggers on the pro controller !
@ottospooky you do know this was on a Nintendo console.came out on the GameCube lol
@NintySnesMan I just looked all over eBay and Amazon.twin snakes was on GameCube.twin snake never made it to PS2 .That's why the switch might get it on VC
@Slim1999
That's right. The ps2 got MGS 2&3. These were remastered for ps3 as a HD collection with MGS peacewalker included. This was then released for psvita minus peacewalker,but the vita got some side story missions instead.. Maybe the switch will get this or who knows maybe twin snakes or nothing at all Bro..have to wait and see
What legal stand point? Surely Nintendo just licence the game from Konami if they want a remaster? No biggie. Alternatively, Konami slap it on the VC like all their other games.
@GrailUK well konami is supporting the switch so nothing is impossible.
@Camilla I hope they go all in, and bring Contra, Gradius, Castlevania to the Switch also. They have such a legacy of IP.
Not sure if Nintendo owns the rights to just make an HD remaster but they may have some leeway with releasing it as a virtual console game.
@Gunnerholic Dude I completely agree with with you. GameCube, Xbox, & Dreamcast were so much better than PS2, they had such awesome exclusive games. I just can't relate to all of the people that were obsessed over PS2. Even today I feel that PS4 is overhyped.
Hey guys I think it can too.
@Nintendo_Ninja Still giving us Turbografx games on the Wii U, assuming just till the Switch VC kicks off, and have at least been a keen VC supporter. Either a VC release or hand the game to another company to HD up, you have some easy money.
If this is true, I hope they fix Meryl's lazy eye in the bathroom scene. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. (o_o )
Virtual console.
@Slim1999 of course however these issues with rights and such are never straightforward. A second party Nintendo game, a port of a Konami game. What seems like a match made in heaven back in the day will probably never be repeated
Remaster this to gauge interest and if it does well bring over the MGS V Collection. I actually thought The Phantom Pain was a bit overrated but still a good game that Switch owners should be given access to.
@ottospooky I agree it's a shame to.
I'd really love it if Konami remade all the MGS games in Fox Engine not just for the Switch, but for all consoles (and PC). I'm currently playing through Snake Eater 3D on 3DS when I'm not playing BOTW, and it's a great game, but the poor controls bring it down.
Oh man, I've wanted to play this game for years. I would snap this up in an instant!
@lifepsychedelic No interest in GameCube emulation. I'll pick up a VC release or just buy a second hand disc one day for my GameCube.
I own this game. Thought I was going to get into the whole MGS thing, but I didn't understand anything of what was going on during the first couple hours. It's now been ten years since I last tried playing it, and I think I have given up on ever being part of the exclusive club that is Metal Gear fandom. It's not like I'm cool enough anyway.
