Japanese publication Famitsu has revealed that a new entry in the popular Nobunaga's Ambition series is coming to the Nintendo Switch.
More details will be revealed in this week's issue, but we know that the title will also hit PS4 and PC.
Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence has already been ported to Nintendo's new console in Japan.
A western release for this isn't out of the question, but would you be interested in playing it? Let us know with a comment.

You wanted third-party games, here's a third-party game.
Nobunaga's Ambition
European's Anticipation
@neufel Europe get shafted alot when it comes to games. Mostly only ever gets released in Japan and the US. Thank goodness this time it's region free
If the price isn't too steep, sure, but Sphere of Influence is a little too high priced.
Let's see if it gets a Western release. I don't think it will happen. Sure Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence doesn't have a Western release so why would this?
The more the merrier. Now bring it to the west.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (I'm in a coma that only a new Pokemon Conquest can subside.)
I would love to check out this game on the Switch. I hope Nintendo convinces KOEI to release it worldwide
yes please mega stategy on the go. Imagine playing on the train then OMG arghhhhh look up you missed your stop.
If this comes to the west then thats great. If not at least the Switch is region free.
It's intriguing, but I have a feeling this is the kind of thing I'd rather have on PC. Would give it a look if it came out in English, though.
They need to get on the ball with Romance of the Three Kingdoms. I'm dying to play that.
Won't get since not coming to West as of now
100%, I'd actually get a switch for this (I'm sticking with Wii U for now).
Well. Since we're region free now maybe we can hope for English subtitles and menus in the game and then we can import it?
Edit: @Pigeon And from that comment I can only assume what I said it would be a no.
I mentioned yesterday that what nintendo does well is get smaller Japanese third party support, which is awesome.
The downside though is the frustration of lack of localization, especially for physical software. At least I Am Setsuna Japan physical had English subs
Hm...
Any chance for Monster Farm / Rancher franchise revived on Switch ?
Just curious...
How are these new versions of Nobunaga's Ambition and Romance of the Seven Kingdoms? I loved the NES/SNES/Genesis games but haven't played in since then? Are they pure strategy like those were or is it more of an action/strategy/third person game?
I can't imagine an actual Western release of this happening (on any platform) honestly. English subs would be a plus though.
I wouldn't mind if they brought it over. I used to play the series back on the NES and SNES along with Romance of the Three Kingdoms. But yeah, they don't really sell that well in the West.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Sphere of Influence was released on the PS4 in the States. My local Best Buy didn't stock the game when it was new, but many months later there were used copies showing up at the store.
Reasonable thinking: Maybe this title will be released in the west? It'll be easier to play with a region-free Switch, at least.
Wishful thinking: Pokemon Conquest 2 for Switch?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence doesn't have a Western release so why would this
Umm, Sphere of Influence did get a western release. Twice. First the base game, then the expanded edition. I own it.
This will surely see western release
@JaxonH On Switch? That's what we're talking about here.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE
We're talking about this game getting a western release, and the fact the previous game was localized in the West means this one will as well, in all likelihood. It only needs one translation in English and ALL systems can be localized.
Obviously it didn't get a western release on Switch (yet) but that's because the system is only 5 weeks old... It'll come. The translation is already done. The game has an English release. It would be flushing money down the toilet to not release in the West on Switch when they already have a western localization done and paid for and released on PS4.
didn't they already officialy announce this?
@Moms-Meowth y'all got Rez and Shenmue 2 on Dreamcast
(stares at my PC and PS4 versions of Nobunaga's Ambition and Sphere of influence) Just...Dangit KT! Ah well, I'll keep my ear to the ground for a localized version but ill be ready to import if I get impatient.
@MarcelRguez Yes but not that third party. Lol. Where's the bobbing rifles? Where's the post apocalyptic rubble? Where do you take cover? Where's the dead behind the eyes white protagonist?
You say it's Nobunaga, but that picture at the top tells me it's actually Jack Sparrow. You can't fool me...
Would have really liked a Kessen (the first episode) remake, Nobunaga' Ambition does not stimulate my interest.
@WiltonRoots Hey, man, give him some breathing room. He's starring in, like, 7 games this week alone.
This looks cool, and the Switch could use a strategy game (these are strategy games right?). Hopefully it gets localized at least on the Eshop.
Probably one of the best games Switch will ever receive. I watched a 1 hour tutorial on YouTube. Now this jumped to the top of my wishlist, along with Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII. I haven't played a good strategy game in a long time. These are Triple AAA titles with production values, hundreds of hours of content and depth, but still simple enough for everyone to understand and play.
I think older entries in the series look too dry and complicated, but the new ones look exciting and fun, and worth the price.
I hope they don't leave EU out this time.
@NEStalgia Why not, the other ones came over...bought both of them twice by accident.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE How could it have released yet on Switch when the Switch has only been out for a few weeks? Mario Kart isn't even out yet. Regardless I have Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence for my PS4 so it obviously released in the West. They will probably show this in the sizzle reel at E3.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I own it on my PS4, and I live in the United States. I bought it at GameStop used. It is an extremely hard game to find, but it is out there.
@Bengals76 It doesn't have a release on Switch in the West.
I have my doubts that the Nobunaga's Ambition and Romance of the Three Kingdoms games will be released on Switch. As @Pigeon said, these games are very expensive in Japan (about AU$125), having a higher pricing tier than what would be considered acceptable in Western markets, have only modest production values, and have an extremely limited audience. Making them budget-priced won't help matters, really, because the audience is so limited as it is, and the devs/publishers need every penny they can get.
Most of these games do not show up in the Japanese charts, and would only sell a few thousand copies (a few tens of thousands at most), but this is usually offset by the low budget for these sorts of games. It would be nice if they came Westward, but it's very unlikely. I Am Setsuna has broader appeal, and yet that wasn't issued a retail release outside of Japan. NA/RotTK has almost no chance. It would be nice if they did, but I'm not optimistic.
@NowhereMan11 That's one of the rare cases we did get games you you didn't lol. We never got Final Fantasy 3, Star Tropics, Earthbound, Chrono Cross, Parasite Eve 1, We didn't even get any of the Luna series. Had to import that lol
