Nintendo has a decent track record in releasing a small number of interesting download-only games, and it'll be aiming to deliver again with Project Mekuru on Nintendo Switch; naturally that's not the final name.
Either locally or online four players run around flipping tiles, also triggering explosions to take out the other players. Items pop up to change your character's abilities, and in principle it looks like a simple spin on the Bomberman concept, albeit with a different approach to dominating territory.
You can see it in action below at the 4 minute 37 second mark.
This is due in the Summer, so it'll be interesting to see how this one turns out.

Looks like 4 player Go on acid. I would play but I doubt I'd be willing to go online for this. I wish the series well however.
Looks like one of Mario Party Island Tour mini games. I claimed the Floor by Slamming my butt on the floor. XD
But, if the games just mainly focused on Slaming Butt only, Ouch... my butt will get some pain. XD
Hey. I don't know if this is the best place to do this but there are new My Nintendo rewards available. You may wanna announce it because people may have a reason to spend their gold coins now. PS. THIS GAME LOOKS SUPER FUN!
I always wanted to play that one minigame from Crash Bash on a Nintendo console*
*Disclaimer: No i didn't
So THAT'S what that was in Nintendo Switch presentation..
Doesn't seem like fun tbh. I wouldn't mind trying a demo though.
This looks like one minigame from Mario Party. Anything outside of free for this would be overpriced (not that I'm considering it either way).
EDIT: Looks like other people made the same observation. Sharp minds at Nintendo Life!
Federation party force: Featuring anyone besides Samus.
So much for them being super selective about what comes on the eshop to start
Let me guess, it's going to be at least 30 bucks lol.
Hot garbage
Harsh guys. Lets give the game a chance.
At least it's going to be better than Monopoly for Switch, right?
Looks like splatoon
i bet konami asked them to delay that one.
Othello the way it was meant to be played!!!
I'll buy Bomberman when it's on sale.
@getyourak it is first party. You can dislike the game they are making, but this isn't , so someone else isn't getting themselves on the eShop.
The game is not something I will be to interested in unless the price is alright. Still maybe it will surprise me when I learn more about it
When I first saw Othello announced on switch I was like Wtf? Now here comes Super Othello. This might be fun with a bunch of people in the house playing multiplayer but you know what? It aint no Bomberman! Seriously I might get this but I will wait and see if I can catch a sale.
Looks like a fun arcade game to me. Anyone remember Dexterity by SNK on Gameboy?
...Is this really a first party title? I'd be surprised if so as it looks very short on content and not really impressive per graphics (not that a game like this really needs to be, but it does seem lacking). It looks like more of a minigame, I'll all for interesting / good gameplay multiplayer games, but if all this has is the one game then it should obviously be digital only, $5 or under, more like $2-3 being the sweet spot (they did mention online, so that's something).
I wouldn't mind if they made several games like this and priced them accordingly, the Switch is all about local multi so having a collection of short local multiplayer minigames could be sweet (i.e. Cutie Clash for Switch..!)
Othello, Fighting Game Edition xd
I need this game. Its so Nintendo and its just a good time - from the looks of it. Why couldn't we have had this at launch!? I'd have been fine with this!
I'm in if it's 10€ or less !
I like the chara design (just not for a Metroid game, as @Undead_terror kinda pointed out).
Isnt this that game from the Presentation but without the miis? If you want to check, its at 54:00
Awesome game. Feels a bit like a nice game to waste some time.
Looks like a fun party game...or one of those great lil games to while away time on a train.
This seems interesting but im not sure how high the replay value will be unless there is a variety of modes.
I actually quite like the look of this, need more games like this for me and my mate
@Einherjar This was basically what I came here to say. I was very underwhelmed by what they showed yesterday, as it basically looks like the pogo mini-game from Crash Bash. Hopefully they reveal a bit more depth in the future, or this is priced between $5-$10. Or merged in with the next Mario Party.
Remember when we were all excited that Nintendo was now going to focus software development on one system. Then we get this and a bunch of kirby games on 3DS
I really kinda liked it. Bomberman is way too expensive, and if this is no more than 20 bucks, with a decent level based online, I'll get it for sure.
Looks like an interesting cross between Splatoon and Othello to me, and this was probably the best news out of the entire Amiibo Direct yesterday, imo
Looks like a fun download game. I'll likely be picking this up as it'll be great party game to have the option of playing with groups of friends! In addition to MK8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, and ARMS!
Might be good multiplayer fun if they can put in a decent number of modes etc to give it some longevity.
Upon looking at this footage, I would rather be playing Bomberman. It may not be for me though a playthrough doesn't hurt....
@getyourak

And we are getting a ton of great games on Switch. With E3 just 60 days away. You didn't expect them to go announcing all their big exciting releases 60 days before E3.... right?
And for the record, there's nothing wrong with this. They've always endorsed smaller games, and that's not going to suddenly stop now
