Amazon Spain has revealed that the Switch version of RiME will ship alongside a special collector's edition that comes with a raft of goodies.
The package comes with an art book, music CD and map - as well as the game, of course - all contained in an oversized box.
RiME doesn't have a release date at the moment, but news of a collector's edition indicates that we shouldn't have to wait much longer. Will you be investing in this special version of the game, or will you go digital instead? Let us know by posting a comment.

I've deliberately waited for this on the Switch rather than other platforms because I think it will work so well with the console. Hope I'm not proved wrong.
I need to be convinced before buying this game. The reviews for it have been pretty mixed from what I remember. May wait for it to be on sale, even if that means getting it for the PS4/Xbox One instead of Switch.
I'll get it used and cheap somewhere down the line if I haven't forgotten about the game at that point...
Having to wait this long compared to the other versions, having to pay more for physical (I don't see any of that 10 bucks "Switch tax" nonsense on 60 bucks games so I call shenanigans on it being a necessary evil) and a lower resolution to boot?
Add mixed reviews to that and... Nah, not worth full price to me and don't want to support this kind of practise, but won't deny myself an interesting looking game.
Now when will we finally get some release date news on Yooka Laylee?! I really want to play that >.<
Been waiting for the Switch version and have it preordered. I might have given in and got it on PS4 by now if I didn't have it coming at only 16 bucks.
I thought they had given up on this, thank god
@FragRed The reviews I read online for Rime were generally positive, despite it being a short game
Collectors addition. I not a collector. But I play games.
I would've bought the retail version anyway, so it's cool to get some nice extras (even though I'm not the collector type myself).
If the port is good, then I'll look to pick this up on Switch. I'll be happy with digital though. It's not the sort of game that screams Collectors Edition to me.
@Curlynob Didn't they say a while ago though that they couldn't do anything with the price, all they could do was add value to the package, hence the extra goodies?
I might buy this for the CD since I'm a big Lindsey Stirling fan. Need to know what the price is, though.
That's great but the other consoles have had the game and their Special Editions since May, while the Switch port still doesn't have a release date. Let's see how much they charge for it as well.
@nunberry I thought that was just going to be a soundtrack download. I assume (though I don't know) that this Collectors Edition is something above and beyond the standard retail version. It's always a game that I've wanted to play, but it screams digital to me rather than physical. Either way, If it's a decent port, I'll be picking it up when it lands on Switch.
I will buy the game. But not the special edition. Not into games that badly
Before I got my hands on Splatoon 2 and Disgaea 5, I was totally ready to add RiME to my collection. Now? Not so much. The extra long wait killed my interest in it long ago - now I can just go on youtube and watch someone else play it from start to finish no problem. Why should I now pay money to get the exact same kind of experience? That's just what happens when you neglect a system - a user base misses out and potential sales they could have gotten just disappear into the aether. Getting it within the month at some point would have been acceptable, but as of now, no release date at all? Yeah, no. I'm not stupid.
I have lost a lot of interest in this along with Stardew Valley. I already own Stardew Valley on PC, and was going to buy it along with this in spring and early summer. Now as time has passed and more games have shown up on the horizon I probably won't even bother with either.
This had the opportunity to be released around now when big titles are slow. Now this looks like it won't be available until the heavy hitters this fall drop, which could hurt the sales a bit. The world looks a bit dull, I may pass on this.
I was so hyped for this game. In May. Now it's almost August and still no Switch release date and honestly I can't be bothered anymore. I agree with Beedrill4Smash above. This and Stardew Valley were both day one purchases for me, but as time has dragged on with no news, no release date, I've lost interest. I think I'll get Story of Seasons instead of Stardew to scratch the farming itch and forget about RiME entirely.
@DizziParadise I was hyped for this game in 2013 when it was to be a Sony 2nd party game It's a wonderful example of "development he..ck..."
What a pretty luxury edition for such a pretty game.
Have they released it 3 months ago I would totally buy it, now I'm gonna pass better things on the horizon
@Rudy_Manchego "because I think it will work so well with the console"
What does this even mean? The simple fact that you can play independent of the TV?
@NEStalgia Yeah, I don't have a PS4 (we stopped at PS2) so it wasn't on my radar back then. I've read the history of the game and development he££ sounds about right. But it's one of many that have been put back and put back with no news for months and I'm getting really fed up. I haven't played on Switch for weeks, because there's nothing for me to play - all the games I had thought were coming... haven't. Splatoon and Mario Kart are not my thing. I got my fill of NeoGeo type games 20 years ago. I had a list of about 8 games I was really looking forward to in the summer, and none of them have actually come out yet. Only one even has a release date - for November.
Again, it wouldn't have been so bad if one or two of them had actually made their original release windows and if most of them hadn't come out on other platforms weeks or even months ago and still no date for us Switch players. I just hope this situation improves, I'll be watching the Sexy Brutale in particular to see if it does.
I remember being actually a little hyped for this game, now I don't really care for it at all, I see above some people mentioning Stardew Valley as well, I'm actually more of the boat that will just wait for it to get here and I'll still get it Day 1
@gatorboi352 Well yes actually. That is exactly what I mean. Glad I could clear that one up for you.
@DizziParadise Yeah, totally understandable. Though it's easy to lose scope that it's still a 5 month old console, and it's had some huge releases already (Splatoon may not be your thing, but it's still huge.) Still I agree, July has been pretty darned dead on the indies front, and that seems kind of weird. Rime...well I expected disaster on this one....but the steady momentum of eshop games did seem to just halt at the start of July. Though we got a ton of announcements of NIS games...all of course for Fall. Still....I think for a console launch, "year 1" is important. And March to March there's a boatload of games. Months 4 &5 have just been kind of sluggish. Splatoon's big, but for offline play, next month we get Rabbids which really does look good....I think that's the kick off to the kind of "relaunch." (other than Splatoon.)
As for Rime? Did you happen to watch Sony's E3 when the rime devs were up there.....that was...awkward. And then the Rime devs tweeted the next day that it would be on WiiU This is back when WiiU was new! And now they can't even peg a date for Switch....
Day one buy for me.
I didn't see Sony's E3, again, since we have no PS4 they aren't on my radar. I was kinda expecting some indies to show for Nintendo at E3 and was a bit disappointed they didn't. Should have known then, I guess.
I appreciate that Splatoon is a big deal, and while it's not my thing I'm still glad it's there for those that do enjoy it. Same for all games really, if there's an audience for it then the game is welcome, regardless of whether it's for me personally or not. I don't think Rabbids is for me either, but that's ok - there's plenty coming (eventually) that is, and failing that there's always the Zelda DLC.
But you know, 8 games on my list. Eight. Not one of them made its release window (yet, anyway - summer isn't over yet but with no release dates even I'm not holding out a lot of hope here). And when they do come out, what are they going to be competing with? Mario Odyssey, probably. Good luck with that.
I just had a conversation with someone yesterday about Rime. There was a lot of hype for a Switch version in January because there were so few announcements, and the games that were there were small indies, or just big Nintendo games. This one fit perfectly in the middle
It's a tough job sustaining hype for a release of a game that's out on other platforms, but I've been trying to do just that. I would be lying if I said that I didn't wake up every morning and check twitter for a release date of this game and Yooka Laylee. Anyway, I understand if people have lost hype, but I think I'm still super jazzed!
I'm going with the standard physical release. It was cheaper with Amazon Prime pre-order discount!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Probably €10 more than the other platforms paid for their CEs.
@Rudy_Manchego entertain me: how does the ability to play this particular game independent of the TV allow it to work so well?
Not feeling the switch tax. I'll wait for a price drop.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE IKR? Nintendo, always late to the party.
Just looked my orders on Amazon and Rime is almost lost far behind in the orders from the beginning of the year... I am not do sure if I will keep it pre-ordered...
Might get this dependent on price. Looking forward to this one, ignored it on PS4/XB1 as it's the perfect game for my Switch (same with Yooka-Laylee). A date would be nice.
