Update 2 - Sun 26th Jan, 2020 09:21 GMT: If you're still not convinced, Street Fighter's executive producer Yoshinori Ono also shared the following message, in response to the now-deleted tweet:
Update - Sun 26th Jan, 2020 04:30 GMT: Sorry folks, EB Games Canada is now saying the details in this tweet were inaccurate and has apologised for any disappointment or confusion it may have caused. The intention was to highlight the PS4 version:
Original Story - Sun 26th Jan, 2020 03:00 GMT: Earlier today, the official Twitter account of EB Games Canada announced Street Fighter V: Champion Edition would be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Although the tweet was up for a number of hours, it's since been deleted.
Here's a screenshot of it, courtesy of IGN:
A game like this coming to the Nintendo Switch is rather hard to believe when considering the fact the original was developed in partnership with Sony, and Capcom previously said the original game – or any future versions – would remain exclusive to PlayStation and PC.
Capcom or Nintendo haven't said anything about porting the game across to the Switch – so it's either a mistake or EB has made an announcement ahead of schedule. The last Street Fighter Capcom released on Switch was the 30th Anniversary Collection in May 2018. Before then, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers arrived in May 2017.

This would be very good news, indeed. Yes
Wish it was true but I doubt it’ll ever happen.
LOL
If it's true, Capcom is literally break the contract with Sony Exclusivity.
Well... Just them trying to get more money when the next one is rumored to be announced with next generation of consoles.
Sounds unrealistic. I'd take a port of Ultra 4 with some Switch exclusive add ons, re-christened Championship Edition. I'm secretly hoping that's what this end up being. More likely it comes to nothing and this is some cruel joke.
@Anti-Matter - A little research shows that the contract is likely up this year.
There may be some credence to this.
@Anti-Matter
Contracts don't last forever.
But seeing is as always believing
I'm tempted to go in store and try to preorder
...and it's gone.
@AxeltheCorvikni And you will be laughed at
That's a shame, would of been all over a Switch version .
Not that I care enough about yet more low res ports but how do you go around promoting the PS4 version by specifically using the phrase "is heading to"? We all know it's going to PS4. That phrase is more used when referring to a new platform. Either the guy writing it was literally day dreaming of a switch or its coming and they obviously had to lie.
I remember playing Street Fighter V on PS4 shortly after I got one. I was not impressed.
Sony must have a tight hold on the exclusivity as Capcom have always ended up porting exclusives in the past.
Fool me once..... An entry on a retailers site is not confrontation of a new release.
Meh we still waiting for Ultra Street Fighter IV. Can't have an SFV until we get an SFIV.
@Smashfan502 Sony and Capcom had a console exclusivity deal with Street Fighter V. Though if the grapevines are telling the truth that exclusive contract is up this year.
Its why Street Fighter V has only been on PS4 and PC. If it comes to switch that'd be really cool though, but am iffy on how Capcom would release it in Europe. Not been a fan of their botched releases of late on Switch
@JayJ 😂😂😂
@AxeltheCorvikni Time to cancel
This guy had to say PS4 twice so the fact he screwed up by saying Nintendo Switch both times makes me question the response
It was an error? What a surprise, not! Like Capcom would actually put something new-ish on the Switch instead of their usual overpriced re-releases of old games >.>
@Smashfan502 There are SF0 (Alpha), SF1, SF2, and SF3 on the Switch, it would be lame to have SF5 on Switch and not SF4 first which is why I said what I say. We need a SF4 like Ultra SFIV on Switch before a SF5.
Two things:
What I wanna know is how does one simply make a mistake like that in both English and French, and where did they get the idea that the game was coming to Switch in the first place?
I'm sad. Very sad.
@jtmnm Best way to put it. I am still holding on hope for this, Metal Gear Collection, Arkham Collection, and Kingdom Hearts Collection.
@Smashfan502 I respect how you took the time to read each comment and answer them in one post...... Here is hoping that they actually do release it.
This is why y'all look like clowns when you contribute to the rumor mill lolol
Everyone has Switch on the brain lol!
What a joke! April 1st is a way off yet folks!
@JR150 Besides, the wording is for a new release and not for the original release (PS4/PC) of a game like they later wrote. Weird. Unusual mistake (?) indeed.
@Judal27 It could also be that they were announcing (trying to announce) SFIV Ultra for Switch ahead of time.
Well, this is kind of embarrassing, isn't it?
Someone got confused while watching EVO. Unless... 😳
@Anti-Matter SF 5 is several years old, and i doubt they paid for lifetime exclusivity.
I got SF 5 on Humble Bundle Monthly this month, and it has come along way since release with the free upgrades alone.
Oh well, at least you got clicks out of it
@xxx128 I see you use your time wisely.
The real disappointment is the lack of SFIV on Switch. Wise up, Capcom!
Personally I’m still waiting on USFIV to come to Switch. Still annoyed switch was snubbed.
If Street Fighter V is coming to the Switch can we have Ultra Street Fighter IV please Capcom?
@Anti-Matter not if it was timed exclusive. Or maybe exclusive not to go on xbox
And in related news, Bayonetta 2 will be released soon on the PS4. Update: no it won't.
@Smashfan502 I meant either the original version or Arcade Edition. I don't remember which.
I hope that this encourages third parties to create more fighting sticks for the Switch
With the amount of controversy and lack of offline , I'm pretty sure there would have been some outrage over this without even getting into the exclusivity issues this would cause.
If this game was a Nintendo exclusive it would be considered as the worst Street Fighter ever with Street Fighter 1. Another example of people being blinded by the big money of sony marketing.
Of course it was an error, you can't betray a promise:
http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2014/12/yep_ps4_is_the_only_console_street_fighter_v_will_ever_appear_on
@Smashfan502 Ultra IV was ported to the twins when the anniversary collection came out. Switch didn’t get that port. I also never said that Switch didn’t receive games and other games that the Switch has received is irrelevant to my mentioning the fact that Ultra IV never went to Switch.
I didn't even realize this was a PS4 console exclusive. Guess I assumed it was on xbone since it was on PC. Damn.
@WrongChops Now that you mention it, I have a feeling this is what was being referenced. An SF4 port with some extras. Which, I definitely wouldn't mind at all! (Though, still gonna hold out hope for SFV...and MVC3 and Darkstalkers while we're at it!)
@GAMER1984dude2 Isn't that MLB Show series coming to Switch? That was a Sony exclusive, correct?
@Smashfan502 Street Fighter 1 has special moves.
@Smashfan502 Well, if I can try it out without buying it first, I'll give it another chance, but I have no plans to spend $20+ on a newer version of a game I'm not really into. Unfortunately, Redbox is phasing out video games, video stores are a dying breed, GameFly is too slow and usually too low in stock to warrant the subscription price, and I've only come across a few libraries that lend video games.
@Smashfan502 well, I get that you don't like fighting sticks but having them so that people who do use them can buy them shouldn't affect you. Would love to have Razer's Panthera for the Switch.
I have most of my fighting games on PC but would love to get more to play anywhere. At least we have BlazBlue.
@Smashfan502 how come? I don't understand why it would bother you for a company to do something more than what they currently do when you wouldn't even buy them. Besides the fighting stick market is run primarily by third parties not by the big 3. It would be just another product Nintendo licenses and nothing about their philosophy or practices would change. Please elaborate I'm curious about your perspective.
@Smashfan502 Interesting, I don't agree with you 100% but I can see what you mean. Thank you for sharing your point of view.
It would be amazing, but would need to be scaled back so much to get the required 60fps that it would most likely be ugly.
That would have been awesome but then I realized, Nintendo online is terrible for fighting games so yeah no big loss...
@Smashfan502 Again, Switch was snubbed for Ultra IV when the anniversary collection came out. That was what I was what I was referring to (which I clarified in my response to you) and again your attempt at a counterpoint is irrelevant to what I said.
@Smashfan502 Yeah I didn't proof read that one.
@Smashfan502 yeah you're right! I forgot Nintendo said that, good point. I believe we've found common ground. More money will bring us even better exclusive games.
I still remember that 'leaked' video of Marvel vs Capcom 3 running on a Switch allegedly. Still bummed that never came to pass.
