The dream is almost here — we're just over a month away from Persona 5 Royal's release on Switch. This much-begged-for port sees the expanded, tuned-up version of the original Persona 5 make its way over to Nintendo's hybrid console, alongside Xbox and PlayStation 5. And budding Phantom Thieves can get pre-ordering right now.
Atlus has shared details of a newly-announced Limited Edition, appropriately named the '1 More Edition'. 1 More is a series-staple mechanic, which allows the player to take another turn if they hit the enemy with a weakness — or a boss with an environmental attack in Persona 5. Or perhaps it's just a reference to the fact that you might want "just one more" special edition of Persona 5?
Regardless, it's worth a little look — it might just steal your heart, after all. The 1 More Edition comes with multiple little goodies, including a treasure chest to store everything in.
Here's a rundown of everything you can get with this fetching package:
- Treasure Chest Box - A collector's box for your stuff, or your Palace's treasure.
- Le Grimoire Art Frame - Plastic art frame inspired by Justine’s Le Grimoire clipboard from the Velvet Room.
- Phantom Thieves Art Prints - a Set of 5”x7” glossy prints of various Persona 5 Royal characters made to be displayed in the frame.
- Akechi’s Briefcase Bag - a replica of the boy detective Akechi’s signature briefcase, now a 15” bag with a logo on the front.
- Arcana Tarot Card Deck - a 24-card tarot deck based on the in-game arcana.
- Persona 5 Royal SteelBook® Case - SteelBook® game case featuring Persona 5 Royal artwork.
- Physical Persona 5 Royal Game - a copy of Persona 5 Royal with over 40 items of previously released DLC included.
The 1 More Edition will cost $119.99 and will ship sometime in November from the Atlus store. So, if you want this treasure for yourself, head on over to the website now!
And in case you're still pinching yourself at seeing a mainline Persona game on the Switch, here's something else — a new trailer, shared by Nintendo itself.
Persona 5 Royal launches on 21st October on the Switch. Will you be venturing back into Mementos next month? Go all out in the comments!

Will Persona 5 Royal feature dual audio support?
Never played any of the persona games before, just SMTV, can't wait for the series to come to Switch, but that special edition looks so lovely <3
shipping and tax adds like another $40 to the total. I want this, but not that badly
Cool I could really use a treasure chest. The game is a little bit intense but it is soo good. Best Jrpg I played in years.
Do the editions coming out for the Switch have extra content or something like that? I own Persona 3 FES for the PlayStation 2. Is there a reason to buy the game again?
Day one physical!
It’ll take my heart and too much of my money. I’ve played that game to death, waiting for 3 and 4
I'm very interested in this game and will likely be getting it day one, but I've never played a Persona game before and thus lack the attachment that would motivate a person to spring for this. I don't even know if I'm gonna like it, so the base game is more than enough for me.
Regular physical one for me please
@Vyacheslav333 yes, but considering the size pretty sure it will be a free to claim DLC for the japanese voices (while other version will include it on disc/download.
@Mattock1987 Does Persona 5 Royal feature dual audio support?
@Rayquaza2510 Oh, well, okay. Thank you very much! )
Don’t buy special editions. The profit margins on those are insane for low quality cardboard and plastic.
Buy games instead.
Happy more people get to experience this game. Persona 5 was my first in the series and I loved it. So much style, flare & elegance in every aspect. I can't wait for Persona 3 & 4 to come to Switch!
... Wun can only hope.
Started playing this right after release on ps4, but that was around the time I just no longer could stare at a tv playing a game, tv was always weird to me as I grew up without mostly, and Game Boy was way cooler being portable and I could find a comfortable spot and position, and play a game, and change spot and position whenever I wanted to. I could go to the toilet and take my game with me. So hopefully, when I can get it at a sale eventually, I can fully enjoy what it seems to have on offer this time. Played some SMT and Persona games already on 3ds and Vita (my favourites are the Etrian crossovers though) and the spin off on Switch TMS on Wii U, so I know I'll most likely enjoy it. And definitely not getting this version, the "need" to collect that I once had is dead. I still like some artbooks, steelbooks, figurines, statues, but unless it's something amazing or at a very decent price, I don't even WANT that stuff anymore.
The Cruel King and the Great Hero (for the storybook / art book), Octopath Traveler (pop up book), Little Nightmares 2 (art book, cool statue and box, and barely more expensive where I bought it), Link's Awakening remake (steelbook looking like a Game Boy running the original, my first gaming experience ever...), and Carrion (just because it seemed like a game made for me, and those Special Reserve releases are gorgeous, and they gave a free download code so we didn't have to wait to start playing) are most of the recent examples where I made an exception. And in all honesty, or just repeating the obvious to understand it better myself, they're also just standing there, not really meaning anything to me. I did play the games, and I appreciate them more because of those inside looks or wider approaches to the artistic vision.
@Vyacheslav333 probably
Standard edition is fine for me. Still waiting for the physical pre-order to be available on Best Buy...
Yeah, I'll just stick with the regular steelbook launch edition. So glad this game is finally coming to Switch.
Preordered the standard physical edition.
This has to be the cheapest looking "special edition" atlus has done in a while, the steelbook will be enough for me
@Jhena The one releasing on switch is Portable from PSP, due to limitations of that system exploration is entirely done in visual novel style, no anime cutscenes and no The Answer either but features an entirely controlable party and a female protagonist with exclusive social links and romance options. Overall it's a trade off and might not be worth it full price since you already played FES, if you're okay with the changes the female protagonist gives the story and interactions a rather different but interesting atmosphere.
@Kr96
That was a nice and thorough answer. Thank you very much.
I think the PS 2 edition is enough for me, but I might watch the portable version on Youtube.
I just want the standard physical edition in the UK. Where’s my option for that, Atlus? C’mon, it’s not like I’m holding a gun to your head…
That said, I’d take the tarot deck. Maybe the bag too. Hmm.
Pass. If I'm going to play Persona 5, it'll be the original version since the Royal's extra story and especially Sumire were terrible additions.
It's not tailored for Switch, as the game ships separately, but I bought it anyways because it's freaking Persona 5 Royal for Nintendo Switch!
I put my money where my mouth is. I've been asking for this for years. And I will fully support them in return.
No special edition for me. I will pick up the game when I pick up an Oled Switch finally around the end of the year. I already played it on PS4 and it is also coming to Xbox S GamePass. I will pick it up to support them for finally doing it.
Just a heads up, regular physical preorders are up on Gamestop's website. There also appears to be a steelbook edition. It's full price.
The price and shipping tore out my heart instead. I'll pass since the Steelcase game took a big chunk out of my heart as well.
Only interested in Persona 4 Golden.
Give a release date for that one already. 🙏
@Vyacheslav333 According to the eShop, there will be. Hopefully it's not an optional download either since it's listed in the game's description.
Seems a particularly mediocre collectors edition.
@NicolausCamp Hm... Ha, I've checked eShop... That's good... Thank you very much! )
After all the years of port begging P5 is finally coming to Switch yet there feels like there is no excitement for this coming to Switch now
@Jhena Nothing new for the new releases, as far as I know. P3 on switch will be a port of Persona 3 Portable, so missing the post-game from FES but including female protagonist.
Lol now the game is truly placed right in front of me. I have a friend who will be even more upset that I won’t play this since I log 90% of my video game time on the switch. Love ya homie but I don’t think I would survive playing this game!
@KBuckley27 could just be too late or something. People have moved on that sort of thing.
@KBuckley27 Blame ATLUS and their crappy marketing. They drip and drip and drip info and constantly tease for YEARS and then have a $2 marketing blitz for its eventual launch.
ATLUS has never been really good at marketing, timely releases or maintaining hype. Look how they did SMTV....If it wasn't for Nintendo constantly advertising it at every opportunity it would have had the same exact fate.
I’m definitely snagging the Switch version after all of the bellyaching and whatnot.
All that total crap for a mere £70 extra! Any single one of those pieces of tat wouldn’t look out of place on the shelf of poundland.
@KBuckley27 I mean it doesn’t help that Altus took way too long to port these. It’s like the .Hack GU collection took too long to be ported
Arcana Tarot Card Deck and Briefcase Bag alone worth the extra 60$ imo if you are a big fan of the game. Love it but i'm too old for this.
Those look great, but I'm probably just going to get the regular edition, unfortunately. Do we know if all the DLC is included with the regular game or just the special edition?
Sold, I do love a good Collector's Edition 😊
@KingofSalvagers04 DLC is included in all versions.
Be getting the standard version for Switch from Walmart most likely and can't wait! The only JRPG I've ever completed and in my top 5 all-time favorite games.
Oh how I wanted this game! So much so that I gave up waiting and bought a used copy of the non-royal version for the PS3. I enjoyed it for about 50hrs but still had a long way to go, and then other games lured me away.
I kind of still want to get this, 3, and 4 for the Switch, but the backlog is beyond ridiculous already…
@Teksetter What a dilemma.....you owe it to yourself to finish it...eventually. Royal is a (slightly) different game from the vanilla PS3 version...soo Maybe use that as justification to start over....? and finish it this time! 💪👍
@Bizzyb
Hah yes, Panthro speaks wisely 😁
P5 is certainly a worthy game that demands finishing, one of many left undone as I chased the next shiny new game. I need a little more willpower!
But can I just beg for mercy this fall though? Splatoon 3 just came out, my copy of JoJo’s All Star Battle arrived today, along with SD Gundam Battle Alliance. Nier Automata and No Man’s Sky preorders are looming around the same time as P5, and LRG started shipping a bunch of old preorders I had with them - Final Vendetta, Young Souls, Astro Aqua Kitty, and Dawn of the Monsters should all arrive within a month. It’s a game avalanche! I’m just glad I don’t play Pokémon. 😅
Still, things should slow down after October and the Persona games really are too good to pass up, after wanting them on Switch for so long…
@turntSNACO
Thanks for the answer. I will stick with the PlayStation 2 version then.
@Teksetter
Oh I know that feeling. It is really bad with Jrpgs or farming sims. As a completionist I even try to go the extra mile. After 50 or 80 hours the scream in my head of missing out on other games gets really loud. Plus getting the feeling of slightly getting burnt out on the game. I often wish for a room like in Dragon Ball Z, where time is really slow and I could play my games without worrying about this stuff. I hope you will find the time to finish P5 and the rest of your backlog.
@KBuckley27
I had given up but now that it's actually coming, I feel drained of what excitement I did have. The fact that it's apparently easier than TMS#FE and SMT V doesn't help either.
@ketrac
This collector's edition comes with the game.
Its a great game. Spent 50 hours and barely finished The Tomb before getting burnt out. Looks like I'm not even half way through it.
@Jhena
Thank you for the support! I get how you feel. Normally I keep the backlog within the realm of reason, but the last 2-3 years I’ve shopped WAY too hard to have time to play everything.
When waves like this happen, usually what works for me is to disconnect from game news for awhile, and avoid temptations.
I really don’t want to unplug from the community here, though, so at least I’ll focus more on slowing down, and being more mindful when choosing purchases. Thanks again, and I hope you enjoy all your games, too!
Did my PreOrder from my local GS the game for now. So no worries. As to the big box extras have to sleep on it.
@Mando44646 Sadly, here in Canada it'll cost $119.99 and with the shipping making it $199.99 in total cost (and yes this is the cheapest shipping option). It's a sad time for me, but however it's also sort of a good thing because I can continue saving my money.
@Ocaz @KBuckley27 The Switch version of P5R's trailer took 12 hours to gain more views than the Xbox version (including the Xbox version Atlus uploaded on their channel) put together, and is now the highest viewed video for these upcoming ports.
Anyone who thinks that the Switch versions are "coming too late" has not been paying attention lol. This is the most demanded port of all time, and now that it's happening, we're going to see it explode.
@PressTurn whatever you say
@Ocaz I'm confused. You mention "there s no hype", I come and bring you objective, empirical data showing there is, and that's your response? Did you just want your anecdotally informed opinion to be validated?
@PressTurn it was validated enough thank you. Therefore I will pass respectfully. I personally don’t see enough for it, but you do so that’s great. I see the side I’m standing on having others who shared my view coincidentally. However either side doesn’t mean anything, it just affirms that I haven’t seen much on the game and a single trailer on YouTube doesn’t account for much. Certainly wouldn’t call it the most anticipated port either, that would belong to the 2 Zelda ports yet to arrive for sure. The “objective” proof you state is just as anecdotal as you claimed mine was.
