Today marks the digital release of Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival on the Nintendo Switch. If you're still on the fence about this latest entry, Bandai Namco has released a demo which you can download from the Switch eShop right now.
It comes with some sample songs including Donderful Everyday and Symphony No.5. It also introduces players to the new character Kumo-kyun, a few other individuals, Omika City and the story.
The full version of the game includes 76 songs and there's also an in-game subscription service - giving players access to over 500 songs at launch. There's plenty of Nintendo tracks in the game, too. You can see the full base game song list in our previous post.
The original game Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum 'n' Fun! is also currently on sale via the Switch eShop in select locations for $9.99 USD (or your regional equivalent). ...I tried getting into this series, tried the RPGs since they were on sale...I just can't get into them, they get boring pretty quickly.

I won't be getting it, at least right away, but I'm curious about the subscription song selection. Haven't been able to find a list yet. The base game song selection isn't all that interesting.
When is this releasing in Europe?
@Jhena i would recommend watching a video that has the standard drum of someone playing since only you here know how your house carries sound.
I think you should mention that this is only the US release. Got all excited until I found out it won't launch in Europe till October 14th.

No idea. I would have said maybe the localization takes a bit more time, but the US version even seems to have all the European languages included.
@Nanami_Ataraxi It says on the official website for the game that it's releasing October 14th in Europe. You could make an American Nintendo account to acces the American eshop I think and buy it that way if you wanted to. I myself will just wait until October 14th as I already got my hands full with other games for now.
@JayJ I've got the drum, but I actually really like playing it with touch controls as well. With buttons however, that's a big no no!

I have the drum kit and I built a custom arcade cabinet with it and a Switch running on Drum and Fun. Now it runs on a PC with Taiko Web.
If any of y'all are interested in this game and haven't tried it before, Taiko Web is a free, web based version of the game with nearly every song in the history of the franchise. Queen, Star Wars, Mickey Mouse, all the popular songs they could only get once many years ago are on there.
I really love Drum n Fun, but don't play it that often. It's so hyper!! But I want to try the drum kit too and they don't sell it separately here. I saw my game shop will sell one combined with the rythm festival though so I'm hesitating what to do... It's not cheap...
I do play with the donkey kongas sometimes, that is a lot of fun also.
A piece of advice here: according to my experience, for anyone out there thinking about buying this game in order to play it with the Hori drum, be aware that it is pretty loud. It isn't necesseraly loud by itself, but its poor "by default" sensitivity forces you to hit it pretty hard in order to avoid any missing hits. You can perfectly play it quite quietly if it is just for fun and if you are only trying to get the silver medal for the songs up to the normal/hard difficulty modes. But if you want to get the gold medal (which requires ZERO missed hits), you gonna have to hit it very hard! Even after doing the mod to increase its sensitivity, it is still not enough to be able to play without getting your neighbors (or your partner) crazy.

Has anyone here managed to buy from Bandai Namco's official store? I tried to buy another drum, because one of my 2 stopped working. And it's IMPOSSIBLE to buy in the store, because it asks to upgrade the registration but the website screen is in an eternal loop. Has anyone been able to buy from this store recently?
As I couldn't buy from Hori, I bought from the Ostent brand. It should arrive for me next week.
I'm probably going to put a professional taiko arcade in my gamer room...I'm just studying with the designer who is working on the gamer room project...the arcade has great quality!

Got the first game with the drum and I won't be getting this. Far too much DLC which like an idiot I bought (yes all of it) but I won't be making the same mistake twice. Some of the songs are hard as hell on the hardest difficulty most notably Let's Go Eevee. Holy Hell you need the reaction times of Superman, quite literally.
@Gohanjin Lol learnt this the hard way. Had the Let's Go Eevee song blaring and then all of a sudden I heard a knock at my door. My Neighbour walking by was not amused. Needless to say I can only play it at suitable times of the day when I'm able to.

Bought Drum n Fun digitally for $9.99 and I'm off to the races. I have Rhythm Festival physically preordered so I'll try that too, but I don't like the subscription. I'm gonna buy it digitally also when it's on deep discount. For now, I just plan to buy a DLC pack every week for Drum n Fun and after a year I'll own them all. Will do the same for Rhythm Festival, for whatever songs they do end up selling as permanent DLC.

I don’t have a drum, but from the videos I saw it didn’t sound loud at all, about as loud as you tapping your fingers on plastic. Maybe knocking?

I'm not. At least, not digitally til it's on deep discount. I got it physically cause I collect. For one, it uses a subscription model, most of the songs of which are Drum n Fun DLC songs. Guess it depends if you're interested in the subscription model.
All the Drum n Fun DLC costs like $350. But you own forever and can pick and choose. Rhythm Festival costs less if you just do the sub for a few months but you don't own anything from the subscription.
