It's the end of another week, and there've been plenty of quirky developments and storylines in the world of Nintendo. GTA Trilogy stayed in the headlines to an extent and had its first notable update, sequence breakers struck again in Metroid Dread, Mario Golf: Super Rush had a big update, Xbox acknowledged that time it tried to buy Nintendo, Keanu Reeves doesn't want to be in Mortal Kombat, and a bot reading and creating Nintendo news was oddly hilarious. All told a lighter week in tone, with plenty celebrating Thanksgiving and shopping for bargains.
Now, though, it's time to chill out and discuss our weekend gaming plans. A few members of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to give our entries a read and then join in with your own via our comment section. Enjoy!

This weekend I’m hoping to polish off the last boss in Metroid Dread, although I’ll likely spend a lot of time heading to previous areas of ZDR hoovering up Missile Tanks and other bits I missed.
Beyond that, I may shun my Switch in favour of some Japanese retro goodness. I’ve had Captain Rainbow for a while now, and this week I took receipt of the Japanese version of Metroid: Other M as well as GameCube Japan-exclusive Kururin Squash. I should probably get around to actually playing them rather than opening them up, admiring their packaging and sliding them round to the far side of my desk.

I had a minor binge in the eShop sale, grabbing both seasons of the Telltale Batman series along with FAR: Lone Sails. That should be plenty of good Switch gaming to enjoy while trying to stay cozy at home (it's pretty darn cold and stormy this weekend in Scotland).
Elsewhere I'll probably still be playing Halo Infinite Multiplayer beta, and I'll continue to work my way through Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
Kate Gray, staff writer
This weekend, I'd love to finish Unpacking, and will be playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons casually! I'd love to get some more of the Happy Home Paradise stuff unlocked, but I'm in no rush.

Hey folks! Bit of a busy weekend for me, but I do plan on continuing my new playthrough of Super Mario Odyssey. I'm trying to take my time with it; I've just gotten into New Donk City and I'm somehow enjoying the experience more now then when I first played it!
Other than that, I'm still jumping into Halo Infinite's multiplayer whenever I can. I think I'm going to give it a rest after this weekend though, as I don't want to burn out before the campaign launches.
Gonçalo Lopes, reviewer
This weekend at Shiryu Games: So many games, so little time...
The weekend of plenty! I will give these League of Legends spin-offs a go, HexTech Mayhem and Ruined King should keep me plenty busy this weekend. Package from the East delivered Toaplan Arcade Garage: Kyukyoku Tiger-Heli and Super Robot Wars 30, two content heavy games I’m already enjoying. Okinawa Rush is quite unique and excellent. Picked up Space Land cheap and am loving it. Clockwork Aquario is a refreshing retro slice of heaven. Wrapping things up was the surprise arrival of Darius: Cozmic Revelation.
Game of the week is DoDonPachi Resurrection. This is it, the dream: Cave on Switch. I believe no other system will ever come close to the Switch shmup legacy.
As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave us a comment below with your weekend gaming plans!

Breath of the Wild 100% semi-weekly update
3 Divine Beasts
97 shrines
619 korok seeds
125 hours
I’m creeping towards getting all the shrines knocked out now and I know in the grand scheme of things I’m well on my way to all the seeds (over two thirds now) but it’s hard to get too excited about the prospect of still having to find around 300 of the little turds (literally).
But hey, I’ve been having a blast! I’m making my way towards the Rito tribe, scouring every inch of the map as I go. I’ve even been finding things I never found in my initial 115 hour play through such as a foot race which was super easy and offered almost no reward - but it was fun and reminded me of Il Piantissimo which is only ever a good thing.
I’ll throw my hands up and admit I was wrong about this game all those years ago. It truly is something special and I don’t think I’ve ever played a game that I’ve put more than 100 hours into and not felt super burnt out by. I still get excited thinking about playing it while I’m at work which is no small feat considering it’s consumed the last 5 months of my gaming time.
Anyway, happy gaming all and I may or may not update you next week but I’ll definitely update you in 2031 when I do get that elusive 100%
Switch: Just got my first badge in let's go.
Xbox: Forza and halo still for me
I played these games. 🤓
1. Animal Crossing New Horizons
2. Yokai Watch 3 Tempura 3DS
I have built 70 vacation homes in Happy Home Paradise island.
I figured it out the Egypt relic usage in Yokai Watch 3 to level up my Yokai very quickly after watching video from AbdallahSmash.
I'm working but hopefully I get to play some Warframe on my phone if I get any downtime -I still need a ton of Aya for those new Primes.
I'm finally on the last chapter of Shadowverse: Champion's Battle, so I'm gonna try to finish that this weekend. I really have had fun with the game, but it can be so difficult sometimes. Once I finish that game I'll shift my focus to Great Ace Attorney Chronicles and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox, two titles I've been wanting to get back to. I picked up Clue this week on a sale so I'll be playing that with friends, along with some Mario Party and Dead By Daylight like usual.
I’m still enjoying the fabulous Metroid Dread. I just don’t want it to end. Other than that, after finishing the PS5 version yesterday, I’m now playing through Death’s Door again on Switch. Yes, it really is that good!
I got Pokemon Brilliant Diamond yesterday, first time playing this one and i'm really enjoying it alot
I'll also play some Mario Party Superstars and Skyward Sword or Metroid Dread
On Ps5 i'm playing the Hitman games
The Binding Of Isaac: Repentance. Have been playing it for around 25 hours (am at 950 overall), and I haven't yet been able to gain a single additional completion mark. Isaac has always been hard, but this really takes the biscuit! It feels almost impossible at points. But it's so much fun that I will happily continue to play! 😆
Have a lovely weekend, guys, and take care out there.
Something Mario
Mario party superstars.
It really is the best Mario party and online works great.
Just finished Metroid Dread. Best game in the series since Super Metroid! I loved the challenge, but I think I'll skip hard mode . Going back to Mass Effect 3 on PS5 for the rest of the weekend.
Guardians Of The Galaxy on PS5 which is absolutely awesome!
And on Switch Animal Crossing because it seems to be the only game on the system I stick with.So much to do!
Picked up Inside, which somehow I’d never got around to playing, despite loving Limbo. I’m flicking between that and the fantastic SMT V this weekend
Still just jumping between Shin Megami Tensei V and The Binding of Isaac: Repentance. Going to be keeping me busy for a while still.
Was hoping to grab a really good Black Friday deal, but it's the same old same old games that crop up time after time, and will be back again for Christmas and New year sales.
Nintendo have lost the plot, and I've saved my money.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond for me. I just got my third badge, I've been spending a ton of time messing around in the Underground or doing other side things. I'm having a lot of fun with it so far! It's not perfect, but it's a pretty good remake. I'm still trying to decide on my team, it's tough to choose... I might also work in a bit of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania since I picked up that and Kirby Star Allies during Black Friday sales earlier in the week, and maybe some KOTOR if that and Pokemon don't prove to be too much to handle together.
On other platforms, I should really get back to Silent Hill soon. I'd like to continue my playthrough of Zelda 1 on the Game & Watch soon, too.
Working my way through Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity DLC.
Dying Light still. It's so good!
I love the vacant serenity with uneasy undertones of abject panic during the day. (It's, frankly, traumatic at night!) Nearly at the end (I think) but trying to take my time with it.
Mahjong by Microsoft (Android) - Daily challenges and also still working on puzzle packs.
Bad Piggies (Windows Phone) - Still really enjoying this.
Burn the Rope (Windows Phone) - Need to get back to this, as I've not played in a few days.
Animal Crossing : New Horizons, still enjoying the 2.0 update
Also been replaying WarioWare Get It Together as well
Got katana zero yesterday played a few hours really impressed! Mite buy messenger on sale on switch even tho got on PS4. Great game. Mite download axiom verge 2! Off to game to get guardians of galaxy PS4 for 30 pounds . Mite get assassins creed van Haley! Oh god where is all the time going give me more! Xxxxxx
@Anti-Matter Insightful Treasures I believe they're called? (the one that levels yokai really quickly.) I remember by the time I reached the story's final boss, my team were already around 35ish levels above recommended level lol.
Been focusing a bit on Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+ on Switch (doubt I'll be grabbing Repentance soon though), and recently started Darkest Dungeon and Inscryption on Steam (the former I've already invested 480+ hours on Switch).
Ruined king: a league of legends story.
I love illaoi's voiced acting.
On Switch, more like recently acquired bargains, but indeed. Particularly Death end Re;Quest which has hooked me hard since last week with its horror-flavoured cyberfantasy and an awesome battle system - with Rune Factory 5's western release not happening till next April, this game might just take its "vacant spot" as one of this year's best Switch RPG releases in my book! Also in the cards is more Little Inferno, Kingdoms of Amalur, Warframe despite failing to procure any Mag Prime parts in the designated period ("Radiant Lith M2, this is the seventh week in a row you've shown a Forma blueprint in class"), Starlink, Valkyria Chronicles, Portia and Terraria, Fuga and Sheltered... and after that, who knows what else, so save some room, boys, for dessert~ ahem, sorry, got carried away here.
On other platforms? Same old recent triad of Elder Scrolls, Just Cause 2 and FFXIII on PC, Fire Emblem, Etrian Odyssey and a few other playthroughs on 3DS (including earlier/recurrent DS mentions from Sudoku Gridmaster to Endless Frontier)... maybe more Tales of Eternia, Blue Reflection and God Eater on Vita.
Mario superstars party.
Kingdoms of amalur on switch and some motorstorm Pacific rift on ps3
SWITCH
Shin Megami Tensei V - continuing my playthrough of this! Enjoying it so far, much-needed challenge!
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond - On the other end of the spectrum we have a very easy game I'm playing lol. Coming up to the second gym!
PC
Death Stranding - Starting this one today! Heard mixed opinions about it, but I'm finally playing it for myself.
Garry's Mod - Drunken mayhem with friends later tonight!
Have a good weekend everyone.
Right now i'm finishing A link to the past/Super metroid randomizer and will play some mario party later tonight
Animal Crossing New Horizons/Happy Home Paradise
Mario Party Superstars
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
(I know the last one is old, but I just got it finally, on a Black Friday deal)😁
Maitetsu: Pure Station and BioShock Infinite (for the millionth time) for me, lol
Scarlet nexus on UGP on the XSX. Enjoying it so far.
Minecraft on the ps5 with my brother. He wants to build a castle with me.
Pokemon brilliant diamond on the nintendo switch. Been radar hunting. Got 4 shiny nidoran (f) yesterday.
PC: Subverse is a surprisingly decent bullet hell/TTBS/VN combination attached to a mildly funny sci-fi parody even if you skip all the h-scenes
Switch: SMTV, and will remain so for the foreseeable forever
3DS: Wrapping up my replay of Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, it is too fun to stay away for long
@LittleToyTitan I hope that gets a Switch port next year 😁
@Krull I picked up both Limbo and Inside last night, having never played them before. I had to at their current prices (got both for free after applying Nintendo points!) and I’ve heard nothing but great things, especially about Inside
@Ooyah
I’m happy I’m not the only that has put hundreds of hours into this realistic masochism simulator.
I am loving Repentance!
I'm playing the 3 great shmup releases the Switch got recently: Dodonpachi Ressurection, Eschatos and Illvelo Swamp.
After beating Hob last week (the game would have been perfect, but the aimless wandering really dragged it down for me), I started up Bioshock Infinite, so I'll be playing that this weekend. Its pretty fun so far. I like the world and interactions with Elizabeth (as well as the skyhook) but my God does the aiming feel STIFF. I was just playing Doom 2016 weeks ago which aimed like a dream, and the movement is so clunky in this one. I'll still see it through because there's a lot I like otherwise, but no amount of settings tweaking is helping in this regard. Also, in regards to the visual style, I find that enemies really blend with the background, which makes them hard to pick out. I wish I at least had a radar or something to know where I'm getting shot from.
I wish I could also get into all of the black Friday eshop games i just bought (Doom Eternal, Dragon Quest XI, Spyro Reignited, Quake, Wunderling, Wolfenstein Youngblood, Wolfenstein II), but I am very much a "one game at a time" kind of person, which has done wonders for keeping my backlog in check.
Just got Metroid Prime for Switch so will be playing that.
Also replaying Dead Space on Series X.
I'm beated Super Mario Odyssey! It was an awesome experience! This is one of the very best games that I've ever played in my life! When Break Free (Lead the Way) started playing, I began crying. And then, when I started watching the credits, I just burst into tears from the joy and pleasure that I got from the game! Also, I'm beated the game before I needed come to my job. I was sleepless, but happy in that day! I'm think, that EVERY Nintendo Switch user need to have Super Mario Odyssey in their games collection! It's the best Nintendo Switch exclusive game, and one of the best games in Super Mario series. I'm beated Arcade Mode in Guilty Gear XX ΛCore Plus R playing as EX Anji Mito and EX Order-Sol. Also, beated a couple of missions in Mission Mode. And, I'm beated CHAOS CODE -NEW SIGN OF CATASTROPHE- playing as MG Hikaru on Ending A(MG Hikaru and Hikaru have the same endings), Bravo on Ending A, and Ray on both Ending A and B. That's all what I've played on this week. Have a nice weekend, everybody!
On PC, I've just started the Old Republic again after 5 years to see what it is now like.
On Switch, I'm gonna be starting Octopath Traveller after I done all my jobs around the house
Blasphemous for the first time
I'm still on Uncharted 3 Remastered for PS4, getting near the end and loving it. Also Kirby Planet Robobot which have also nearly cleared the main game. Might try some Panzer Paladin too and if I finish Uncharted will move onto Brilliant Diamond.
This week I will be mostly playing
Star Fox Zero
Pokémon Black 2
Nino No Kuri, Valkyria Chronicles 4 and Transistor for me.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond — I have gotten far too attached to my starter Piplup even though it grew up to be less adorable.
Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania - Just bought it on sale this weekend and enjoying it, although a few of the levels are awful.
Animal Crossing New Horizons - Must Collect All Gyroids....
I finished Dread this week and I feel like I am still catching my breath!
I started this game called Effie, it's a simple enough indie 3D platformer and I am enjoying my time with it... But you can feel the disparity in quality when compared to a Nintendo first party game.
Also 2048 on my phone. Lol I am addicted
I managed to get the Halo Series X so probably focusing on using my Series X. May choose to play some Mario Party Superstars online and start Pokemon Brilliant Diamond if I choose to play Switch.
SMTV and Ion Fury, determined to finish Ion Fury
I’m making turkey soup, playing ACNH and probably more Earth Defense Force 3 but really should get back to Dying Light.
It’s hard not to indulge in the eshop right now, with good prices on Slay the Spire, Into the Breach, Space Crew, Horizon Chase, and a few other watchlist titles, but I’ll try to resist. 😵💫
Have a fun weekend, NL peeps!
Continuing with Final Fantasy X. So tempted to pick up some sale deals too but trying to be good! Want to clear my backlog a bit first. But then Doom 64 for 2 quid and Quake for less than a fiver just seem too good…
Finishing up OOT3D, will move on to either Majoras Mask 3D or A Link Between Worlds, not sure yet
Shin Megami Tensei V currently stuck on the loup garou who just has way too many hit points.
Also playing Steredenn: Binary Stars, as usual. Earlier this week I beat the Mothership for the second time. I think it's just about time to retire this game, but I'm not sure what I would replace it with.
As always, Slay the Spire in between other things. Trying to win with the Defect, have come within spitting range a couple of time but have yet to ascend.
I might get in a session of Ring Fit Adventure today, and I have a copy of Neo TWEWY winging its way towards me.
(ETA: just beat the loup-garou. It's funny how often the answer to difficulties in SMTV is "pay attention to what the game is telling you".)
New Horizons is so good! Burnout Paradise is so crazy!
On sale, bought Edith Finch, on my wish list for years. Also, almost ready to buy Fenyx Immortals. I made data space for it, I think that will be my next big game. Or should I get Wonder Boy Asha?
So many sales!
Happy gaming everyone!
@JustMonika Yeah, let's hope they can pull it off. Would be great to see the franchise on a Nintendo System again.
Having fun with BOTW, SMTV, and Travis Strikes Again.
DoDonPachi Resurrection, of course! I’m trying to trigger the alternate routes, which I used to get fairly easily. But now I might be missing something.
New nightly ritual of Trtris 99 and a bunch of Halo Infinite. Trying to finish the last chapter of Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon & the Blade of Light but I don’t have a weapon that can damage the final boss…
Still SMT V for me. I’m 60 hours in and I think I’ll still be playing a while longer, especially if I go for all the endings.
I’ve also picked up Dodonpachi Resurrection which I’m looking forward to giving a go too.
I managed to snag Slay The Spire on the eShop (10 bucks) which I love way more than I thought I would, Horizon Chase Turbo (5 bucks) as well on there. And to top it off, I got a physical copy of Fire Emblem Three Houses for 25 bucks! Heck of a deal for a huge Fire Emblem fan like myself. I am currently only playing Slay The Spire though!
This week I finished Axiom Verge. Overall I enjoyed it and thought it was a unique game. I found the 3rd to last boss (the Sentinel) to be quite annoying and resorted to using the turbo feature on my split pad pro for the first time.
After that I started a 3rd playthrough of Metroid Dread. This time on hard mode and I am following a speed run route I found online. Not that you could really call what I am doing a speed run. I am trying to keep the in game timer to under 4 hours and I am following the route at a high level and learning to perform all the tricks/glitches. I have spent more than an hour and sometimes probably multiple hours figuring out how to pull off some of them (YouTube tutorials have been helpful though). Then, once I can do the glitch sort of a little consistently, I will “load last checkpoint” from the system menu (because it resets the in game timer to that point) and hopefully do the trick before too much in game time elapses. It has been fun to actually do some of the tricks/glitches people have found. It is an interesting way to go through the game differently for a new challenge. I am at about 2h 50m now and I need to fight the twin robots boss. That boss has been the most difficult for me on normal mode, so we’ll see how it goes on hard mode. In my second play through most bosses took me 2-3 tries but this one took me many more.
(Update: I had a chance to play for 20-30m this morning and finished off the twin robot chozo soldiers. It looks like I’m going to be able to do this. I don’t think there are any more glitches to learn in this route)
Probably an odd combo....but I've been playing Shin Megami Tensei V and a Nancy Drew game. (they're selling for less than 3 euros on Steam in the sale right now) They're surprisingly charming and have interesting stories. Although you have to be able to deal with the awkward visuals and interface.
For the price I'd say they're worth having a look at though if you have a craving for a mystery solver/puzzle game.
Links Awakening on the game and watch. Wargroove which I picked up in the sale, and Pokémon pearl
Wayyyyy too many games at the moment.
Series S: Halo Infinite, FH5, Tales of Arise, Back4Blood (coop with friends) and Forgotten City.
Switch: I would be playing Metroid Dread but my gf is still wrapping up the Pokemon Shield DLC's.
Ps5: Ghost of Tsushima DC and Death Stranding DC, I'm doing all the grinding possible before finishing the main story.
There's not enough hours in a day right now I swear.
Pokemon Shining Pearl and Halo Infinite multiplayer.
Switch - Still working my way through Pokemon Shield. I've (finally) stumbled on more plot on the cusp of what I thought was the endgame. Gotta find a certain wolf Pokemon....
3DS - Just started Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask yesterday to continue my quest to play through the prequel trilogy. The 3D models and environments were a bit jarring at first compared to the DS entries, but it's growing on me. Only a couple of hours into Monte d'Or.
Happy gaming!
Nothing. Weekend is always full of commitments.
Monday though I’m hoping to get some BFD runs in WoW SoM
@Shadeon_Koopa
I didn't realize if i already have some Egyptian relic that one of them can boost the level very high after i got from Treasure coins.
It was crazy to see the effect of that green relic could boost a level 1 Yokai to level 60+ Yokai instantly.
playing animal crossing, still working on designing my island. Playing Shining Pearl because I haven't beat the 7th gym or the Elite Four.
Doctor Who Edge or Reality. (a flawed game, but I'm enjoying it. It's like playing an episode of the show. This isn't a recommendation.)
And some casual Rocket League matches.
The time has come to EV train my early competative team in BDSP, I don't have the IVs worked out yet, but I sholud be able to get through the battle tower at least.
Still at it with Animal Crossing. Gonna get in some Mario Golf, Smash, Fatal Frame, and some Neo Geo games as well.
Doing a third playthrough of bowsers fury rn in terms of switch games, as well as some mario maker 2. On pc, I'm playing lots of Halo Infinite rn.
Cook, Serve, Delicious 2
Just got the Contra and Castlevania Anniversary Collections for $10. Having fun with it so far!
Making my way through Omega Ruby, did some breeding, did some trading, caught Groudon and beat the last gym. I'm burned out on pokemon for a while.
Death’s Door, Olija, and Halo Infinite for sure. Maybe Far Cry 6 or Sackboy might get booted at some point too.
Picked up Dragon Quest XI during Black Friday. Unsure if I'm going to start that or play Pokemon Shining Pearl since I'm racing my friends in a Nuzlocke challenge
Still battling my way through Ghost of Tsushima so my switch’ll probably remain switched off!
I’m playing Mario Party Superstars with friends, continuing my current playthrough of Breath of the Wild, working through Pokémon Shining Pearl (just made it to the third gym), and playing a bit of Metroid Dread just for fun.
Shin Megami Tensei V. What a beautiful, strange journey.
Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers on Switch. Such an underrated game. Starting to compulsively play Street Fighter 2 on multiple platforms. Really want to play one of the spin offs like Marvel vs Capcom.
Zelda: Twilight Princess on wii. Still have my save from 2007 where I have clocked 98 hours and almost 100% the game. But what I've been doing this weekend is getting through the frustrating goron mines. That part of the game is such a slog. Through it now. Want to get up to the abandoned mansion dungeon. That is a great dungeon.
I assume I will be playing Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2 on PS2.
I finished up Kaze and the Wild Masks earlier in the day, absolutely fantastic platformer that I'll be playing again at some point, well worth the experience.
I'll probably play Pokemon Go for a bit as well, since I usually play for a bit every day. Outside of that, more of the same in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, I usually visit Harv's island every couple of days, as I'm trying to complete the art section of the museum. Maybe some Mario Party Superstars with the fiancee and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with the kids as well.
Every year since I first started gaming from Thanks Giving (or Turkey Day) to back to work in January the following year, I play Nintendo games only and have myself a Nintendo Gaming Christmas. So on that note, started with Zelda OoT on Thursday just gone and this weekend will be SMB on the NES mini followed by a bit of Mario Kart 64 on NOL.
@dugan ASha in Monster World is a delight!!! I haven't picked up the remake, but the original is still so so playable
Shining Pearl mostly. It’s ok.
Bit of Hot Pursuit Remastered too, definitely worth the £12 it’s on sale for if you enjoy arcade racers. Loads to do and it still looks really nice considering it’s age!
I bought Ys IX since it finally went on sale. My family and I are driving back home today. It's supposed to be a 13 hour drive so I'll be playing Ys IX pretty much all day lol. Once I get home I might do some more Persona 4 Golden as well
Work has been keeping me busy and my days off have also kept me so occupied with anything other than gaming lately. So much so that I'm FINALLY getting to the end of Metroid Dread (and it was a day 1 purchase!). With all these Black Friday deals going on my backlog is about to pile up again With the combination of massive discounts and a gift card I picked up for Switch World War Z, Doom Eternal Deluxe Edition, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, and Mortal Kombat 11/Ultimate Add-On Bundle. I'll be trying very hard to tackle those for the forseeable future.
In terms of singleplayer, I'm still playing through BOTW. I just finished the Champion's Ballad, but I have a LOT of shrines to get through still.
In terms of multiplayer, I've been playing a lot of Superstars with my friends. It might just be my favorite Mario Party game. It used to be 8 but this one has gotten me into rethinking my ranking.
I've already played some ACNH. Downloading Haven right now. Hopefully will get to it later.
Still on my XC2 NG+, but other than that I've started a Fire Emblem Fates (Birthright) playthrough that I'm looking forward to getting farther in.
SMT V and Wii Sports to find the castle shown in the Out of Bounds video (success!).
still playing and enjoying Animal Crossing will forever be playing it cause it will always be the best game ever
Also I was the very first person in the world to play New Horizons been playing the series since the N64 days 🥰
@Donutsavant Yes, it looks great, but I hear that it is short. So comparing the time playable, and cost of each game, I think I will go for Fenyx now, and wait for a bigger sale on Asha.
Picked up Metro 2033 Redux, Inside, Okami and Bioshock Infinite in the big sale. Will play Inside tonight and start either Bioshock or Okami tomorrow. Which should I pick? Flip a coin perhaps.
Just finished Kemco's Chroma Quatrurion. Starting Ys Origin again, played it a year ago but wish everyday I see Ys 1 coming to Switch. So far nothing yet but I'm hopefull.
@MajorasLapdog BOTW is truly a special game. I was 15 when it came out and it truly shaped my view of gaming in general.
@Joe-b I wish we had so many more Ys games on switch!!! I want them all.
Origins is so good, as are 8 and 9
@Gwynbleidd To be honest, I'm trying to figure out the big deal with gyro support. I have to immediately disable it in FPS games or it makes it completely unplayable for me. It's probably because I've never done motion controls. Call me old school, lol
@TMNHertl BioShock Infinite of course.. especially if you never played it.. just beyond phenomenal!
@kducky11 I was 22 when it released (jeez, now I’m hurtling towards 30) and I liked it but didn’t feel too strongly about it. I think it’s because Zelda is my favourite series of all time and I missed the tighter structure and puzzle design of some of my favourites. Plus, delay after delay led to stratospheric hype that would’ve always struggled to be met.
Coming back to it four years down the line, though, playing it and appreciating it for what it is instead of what it’s not and I feel like I finally ‘get’ it. It may not be my favourite Zelda, or even my second, but it’s a really fun, engaging and absorbing experience and it plays unlike anything I’ve played before in terms of sheer freedom. So yeah, it’s a pretty special game
@Donutsavant. Yes, I'd love Ys games on Switch as well. 8 was amazing. Haven't played 9. Looks dark. Did you like it as well as 8?
Yes I'm 70 hours into Baldo, the best game for me this year and I'm almost at the end last two dungeons... Might try Death's Door after...
@Joe-b that's a tough call!!! I loved 8 and I think so much of the thrill was how surprised I was to love this previously unknown quantity.
Now I love the series and 9 was so so fun and exciting and the world is lovely and rich. The slow down that has been complained about on this website is true however so if that is a deal breaker that's totally fair. I still loved it maybe as much as 8
I'll have to give 9 a go. I love Ys so I don't want to miss out on what could be a great game. I don't get hung up on technical performance. Never did. It's to bad people get hung up on that.
Yet another reminder of why my position on NSO being a waste of money hasn't changed. Most of the online modes in the games that I play are so insubstantial that it beggars belief that they would consider it appropriate to tether them to a paid "service" at all. (I'm currently on the current 7-day trial)
I generally don't care for playing against others online. I'm very much an in-person couch multiplayer kinda guy.
This weekend I've played...
And also dabbled with the following, mainly for the NSO "benefits"...
I recently purchased Toree 2 with my points on Switch. It's really good so far! I'm stuck on Torch Tower, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. I really like Toree 3D, but this weekend, I'm playing Toree 2!
Shining Force from Sega Genesis online bundle.
It's my third playhtrough and I completely sunk into it again.
About 20 hours of BoI repentance
@Gwynbleidd Well yeah, I only play in handheld mode. Originally had the Lite but now I have the OLED.
FF1- I'm leveling up in the Temple of Fiends Past. My Black Wizard is a 32, and the Red Wizard,Knight and Ninja are 31s.
4 Gas Dragons wiped out my team earlier this evening. Little turds. Maybe I'm not meant to be in that section of the Temple yet?
@Gwynbleidd I started playing FPS games when they started in the early 90's with Wolfenstein 3D and Doom. So I go all the way to the beginning with them. Just wish there were more quality ones nowadays like we had during the PS3 / 360 Era. The new Doom and Wolfenstein games have actually been the most fun FPS games I've played in recent years. Very excited about the reveal of the next BioShock. Been waiting since the first announcement of it back in 2014 for them to finally get it together and actually make it, lol
