One upcoming release we're rather excited about here at Nintendo Life is the Switch port of Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm. This "love letter" to classic games started out on Apple Arcade and will be released on the Switch this fall.
Although we've already seen plenty of gameplay footage of the Nintendo version (see above), the Finnish developer behind the game, Cornfox & Bros., has now shared the "first official screenshot" of this iteration. Here it is in all its glory:

Here's the first official screenshot from the upcoming #NintendoSwitch port of #Oceanhorn2!
In a new blog post over on Epic's Unreal Engine website, the developer goes into detail about the process of porting the game from iOS to Switch.
During this, it revealed the first build of the game on Nintendo's system ran at 13 fps. The game in its final form is expected to target 30 fps. In terms of resolution, it'll be 720p in portable mode and 1080p docked. The team also collaborated with the studio Engine Software to make this version of the game happen.
Will you be trying this out when it arrives on the Nintendo Switch this fall? Leave a comment down below.

@AnotherGoblin I guess having the choice isn't a bad thing. But I pretty much agree. I can play this for free for a month and just $5 a month after? And there's a solid 20-25 other games worth playing too.
He does looks like Link but without Elf ears and long hair. Looks better than Link in my opinion.
But be honest, i have zero hype with BOTW at this point even i have bought the game since March 2017 and being neglected for more than 3 years.
Ironically, i have a bit interest with Zelda game clones instead.
Oceanhorn 2 looks a bit appealing for me than BOTW in term of graphic and gameplay similarity but i still don't have very strong hype in kind of games like this.
I have very strong hype with ACNH until today, maybe i was born to be a gamer with interest about Life Sim games genre.
Outsourcing optimization... Well, at least they did it at all. Between this and Genshin Impact, I'm shocking myself and leaning toward the F2P GaaS.
I enjoyed the first and was really hoping this one was coming too
Who needs a Switch port when you can just play this on Apple arcade! -Apple arcade user
Looks pretty good actually. I haven't been paying attention to this, nor did I play the first one.
This looks great! Will be buying this for sure.
This game gives me some Fable vibes.
I like this better than the first one. Such different artstyles and graphics direction between the two.
Looks good but controls are something out of the 90s...
Played the first one to completion and whilst it was enjoyable, it still felt quite a hollow experience overall. Mobile game ports are more often a miss than a hit.
I'm inclined to pick it up as I'm half-Finnish. Suomi! Suomi!
Also @Anti-Matter it took me three attempts for BotW to get its hooks into me. The third pickup I told myself I wouldn't play anything else, or put it back down until I beat one of the Divine Beasts. I mean universal praise couldn't be wrong, right?
By giving myself an artificial goal, I pressed through the mechanics that didn't appeal initially, and discovered an awesome game. Highly recommend pressing through at least the Zora domain, and then re-evaluate how you feel.
Hopefully they do a physical, maybe a collection?? Can but hope
Getting this
@Yoshinator Well if Epic and Apple keep hitting heads UE4 will be wiped from Apple entirely so....yikes.
This port came at a good time.
I did play the Switch demo of the first one, it was ok, but not ok enough for me to buy the game.
While the Switch provides a platform for all and sundry to earn a few extra quid from their games, this was not why we bought the Switch in the first place. Some will look at it as an extra bonus and that's fine, maybe, but as a bonus, not instead of the real thing.
I played this on Apple Arcade, Ipad Pro 2017.
It was awful. I would love to actually play the game with controls that actually work. Touch controls were really bad!
I played this to completion on a Mac and it's still an awful game. The world is bland, the gameplay is boring, and the AI is totally broken sometimes. That last one is fixable, but you're still left with nothing worth playing.
Can't wait to explore Lowrule with Leenk and friends!
The devs are quite honest and open that they draw inspiration form LoZ and seem like real fans of the series.
The first game was decent but marginally overrated by the reviewers (both the Apple store and Switch reviews)
I will probably get this as I don't like playing games on my iOS devices (barely ever use them) & haven't played on them for years. However, it will be when discounted (even though it'll prob still b costlier than the iOS game!)
@ritouf
The cheapest ipad is more powerful by far than a Switch.
The Switch is OLD. Super old chipset. It's been due for a refresh since it came out imo. At least there's plenty of pixel games to play since it doesn't run much else very well.
This looks better than the first. I enjoyed the first. This will be a day one buy for me.
Very skeptical of the 30fps 720p
@AnotherGoblin Shantae and the Seven Sirens says hi! It was an apple Arcade timed exclusive and it was a damn amazing game.
I haven't yet played the first one but it seems to me, from what I've seen at least, that even if it's still heavily inspired on the Zelda series, this new game looks more like its own thing. The technology, the gun (!), the design of the map, the enemies' HP bar, even the hearts' design... it's got a lot of original aspects to it that make me think of a new universe, separated from Zelda's. I will definitely check this one out.
@Bermanator
Hahah
Who have played this game on Apple Arcade?
Is that game felt easier than BOTW for newbie players?
I wished link had a gun though...
@Sladey69 I just want them to hurry up and put this on ps4 and pc 😤😤
I really want to like this game, but the first one was far away from goody especially because of the controlls. It felt like an unpolished mobile port and I really had to push myself to finish it. The devs were lucky that there was not much choice at the time when they released Oceanhorn on Switch... The second one looks really good, but if the controlls are similar, I have to give this one a hard pass.
@sword_9mm Naaaah, that's not fair to say that only pixel art games run good on Switch. There are lot of great looking and well performing games on Switch!
@ritouf the switch is much more cheaper than an ipad and any good phones, the technology isn't cheap.
@AnotherGoblin I have Apple Arcade but there are some games I’ve double-dipped with. Plus not everyone has an iPhone. So I like it when AA games get ports.
Haven’t played this particular game yet, though. I’ve heard mixed things about it so I don’t know if I will. I have too many other games on my backlog, even if it is on AA.
If you want a Zelda inspired indie, the "Ittl Dew" games are WAY, WAY better.
Where's our Physical release????
This and Genshin Impact are the only two mobile games I want on Switch, both are Zelda-inspired games so not too surprising.
They shouldn't have given the hero a blue tunic looking like that. Reminds too much of Link in BotW.
@Bermanator not in 3d hehe
Looks great. Looks like everything has been improved over the first one
