The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partners Showcase got off to a pretty cracking start with lots of content announcements for Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda.
Three paid DLC packs are coming to the game this year, with the first of those launching later today for $5.99. Here's a rundown of each:
Pack 1: Character Pack – In the first pack, five additional characters join the game’s ensemble, including Impa, who excels in ranged attacks with the Naginata weapon, and Aria, perfect for players who like a challenge. It’s game over if you take one hit or miss a beat with her.
Pack 2: Melody Pack – After purchasing this pack, 39 songs will be added to the game, including remixed versions of the game’s background music. Players can change the background music at any time so they can listen to their favorite songs while journeying through Hyrule.
Pack 3: Additional Story Content – Symphony of the Mask – Play as the mysterious Skull Kid and venture through a new map in the third DLC pack, complete with new songs and a new story. Skull Kid also possesses the power to change abilities based on the masks he dons.
Packs 2 and 3 are set to be available before the end of October (available for $5.99 and $9.99 respectively), and you can ensure you'll get your hands on them by picking up a Season Pass ($14.99). This Season Pass contains all three DLC packs (you'll get them as they're released) and will also grant you access to bonus costumes for Link and Zelda.
That's not all, either, as it was also announced that a physical edition featuring all of the game's base content and DLC will be available later this year. Available on October 23rd for $39.99, this will be perfect for anyone who's yet to give the game a go.
Not a bad opener, huh? Excited for all this new content? Let us know below.

Ooh... that physical edition is tempting
I love this game, I’m so happy
This is exactly the goodness I've been waiting for, a physical release has been on my wishlist since the game launched!
Not too far off, either.
This game goes on sale regularly though... will be likely a decent sale soon, to get more people hooked for the DLC...
May be tough to justify the physical version...
Loved the trial of this game though and always was interested...
...but what does it cost?
I’m so happy about the physical
Was really the only thing in the direct that was of interest to me. Going to hold off for the physical edition.such a great and unique game!!
I'm glad I have waited all this time before buying it ! Sweet, sweet physical edition
Glad I held off on buying this so I can get the physical version in October. It doesn’t look like I’m going to have much else to buy on Switch this year, if things keep going the way they’re going.
Yay this is good news. Wanted to get back into it so this is the perfect excuse. Time for s full fat direct though??
Been waiting for this to go on offer. Now I'll just hold off and get the physical edition.
I might have to double dip for the physical edition. This game is amazing.
I love the addition of the Skull Kid as DLC, hopefully there are remixes of some Majoras Mask songs in the game, that would be killer.
@thesilverbrick @JohnnyC I was thinking of posting in the user forum about this game and others. To wit, a list of games which I have refused to purchase until they are sold at retail. I knew I wasn't the only one... and YES, at last!
Don't really care about the first two packs but might grab the DLC later in the year for the story content, depending on the price. Excellent game.
Loved the game to play with a friend, the third DLC sounds interesting as well
Called it!!! Glad I wasn't an early adopter for that $25 base game at launch...and that I wasn't in a rush to get it when it was discounted. =D
so happy I waited now i can get the game card yessssssss.
Glad I held out for that physical copy!
@TimboSlice In the US/Canadian eShops, Cadence of Hyrule has only gone on sale one time, since release.
Delighted I’d held off. Day one.
Super excited about that one
Extra story and music is nice, though it stays a rogue game. And I played it on fixed beat otherwise it would be unplayable for me. I am not entirely sure if I just go for the season-pass or buy the physical version. I mean, I have already the download-version (at a discount) and the physical version comes faaar to late. And the game didn't blow me away anyway (I still enjoyed it though).
Might pick up that physical. I could see it being harder to find in the future.
$10 would’ve been the ideal price for this, but I’m happy with the content.
Now this is some good news, I've been holding of for a physical release, and it will be more than just the game as it is now.
@baconcow But normally with DLC announcements we see a drop... just to build buzz I guess...
I’d be happy for a drop as the DLC doesn’t appeal to me for the cost...
The reason that it all of a sudden gets a physical release (and in October no less) shows that Nintendo really has nothing else to release.
Stoked for the dlc, will get physical also great game!
@Henmii
Sad but true 😞
I hope they up the save slots. I've got a main game save with Octavo, a dungeon crawl with Link, and a dungeon crawl with Zelda. I like playing on all these and I'm RIDICULOUSLY excited about the DLC. But 3 save slots with so much content is a problem.
Btw, is it weird that Cadence has SURPASSED my love for the (excellent!) Link's Awakening to take the solid #2 Zelda this generation for me?
I like what they are doing lately including all dlcs on the physical edition. It makes it all the more worth it
@TimboSlice I am looking forward to a price drop, also.
This is the best news of the mini Direct by far. Very happy to spend a little more time and money on an Nindie gem.
The Goose Game physical edition was also confirmed by iam8bit
@TimboSlice I don't think this has ever been on sale. The original non-Zelda game, sure, but I've never seen the Zelda one on sale.
So i did it. I got the season pass. So far the characters are really fun to play. Impa makes the game easier with her spear. My god i could listen to the music for days and to no more music is coming plus more story.. i cant wait. Going to try out some more characters. As they all play different. It makes for some remarkable replayability. WE NEED MORE SAVE SLOTS
The news of DLC p'ed me off, but then they made up for it with the physical edition with all DLC included. Wheee!
Inb4 someone complains that we got this instead of BotW 2 info.
@RainbowGazelle In the USA/Canada eShop, this game went on sale on December 11, 2019 (30% off).
