@PharoneTheGnome Nintendo of America gets the cartridges from Japan because their games are the global version and those already have all languages supported, so they don’t need to make separate cartridges in America.

No reason it shouldn’t. At least give us a game to start it if we can’t afford Mario Kart World or some of the other Switch 2 games atm.

Out of curiosity, will there be a possible OLED variant later on or is it just gonna be skipped entirely this generation?

Now then, will shopping cart and gifting features be added?

@westman98 I mean, you can still have themes and leave enough resources for games. In any case Nintendo is past the era of themes on consoles, they should at least rename the Themes section to ‘Light/Dark Settings’ or move the light/dark mode toggle to Display to make it less confusing.

@VoidofLight There were images of the eShop which show a new interface, and maybe Nintendo is adding more space to the OS to improve performance to the UI, especially for the eShop, although probably not to add themes again. I won’t be to upset if they don’t add themes again (because more of the upset part is actually towards the Switch 2 price), but I’d say imagine they at least add a red theme or some of those leaked Switch 1 themes that got removed before release.

@Minako-Meleph Nintendo will still be region free, they just made that Japanese-only unit to combat the scalpers and other people who will take advantage of the cheaper price in countries like Japan due to the high price in their home country. It’s why Nintendo is starting to price everything the same around the world.

Even if it is expensive this could help drive Switch 2 sales during the holidays.

Hopefully it’s still available during that time (because I’m thinking of just waiting until November to get the Switch 2) and Nintendo decides to continue producing it for the holidays.

@PikaPhantom I’m thinking this means there’s gonna be a new UI for the Switch 2, hopefully with themes and music returning.

Now how about analog triggers, especially for if games like Forza Horizon get ported?

We’re reaching the end of the homestretch now! I have actually been wanting the Switch 2 since like, 2023 or 2024, I’m not sure since when, but we’re almost here!

@Discostew I think I heard it somewhere else, but I forgot where. Or maybe I was thinking of the UI and Vidmiio leak, both of which were actually debunked.

I actually would like to see Campus on Switch 2. A great way to introduce something like Discord, which I’m actually surprised the current Switch doesn’t have as of now.

We know for sure they’re showing off the next Mario Kart here, but with announcing other games, I would be surprised if they announce the first Splatoon spinoff game and some third party games.

As for the system itself, I’d like to see them talk about the UI and its new features. This is where I’d expect them to announce the price and release date.

I was guessing it could be to switch the Joy-Cons into mouse mode.

Although if we’re talking non-Nintendo here, I’d say Minecraft needs a Switch 2 edition (based on what I heard from others say about its performance), either as a free upgrade available when the game is inserted onto a Switch 2, or a separate release that contains the Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions (the latter being the update) on a separate cartridge.

If it’s even coming over to any other parts of the world (like here in the US), it better include the My Nintendo Store (which still has to open in Latin America and Brazil).

Did not know if I wanted to use the Mario or Splatoon theme, but I went with the latter. Just got greeted with Pearl’s animation from one of the live concerts this morning too, and I’ll admit the animation made me smile even though the Color Pulse remix in it sucked.

@StephenYap3 Based on what I heard from others, Minecraft could use one too to run smoothly on Switch 2, but that has to be brought up to Mojang and Microsoft.

What if the C button has something to do with Nintendo Today, especially if the News section replaced with Nintendo Today on Switch 2?

This could be easy to rerelease certain Switch games with a Switch 2 edition in a new cartridge that contains both versions of the game with the Switch 2 version containing the added enhancements, with people with the original copy also being able to download the Switch 2 version when the cartridge is inserted.

@PikaPhantom Probably because some current Switch games could actually run better on Switch 2. Some games shown off in the Direct could be cross-gen, but not all tho.

We already know it won’t be another capture button as that’s already on the left Joy-Con. Hmmmm, could it be some sort of chat button?

@Dev-N The Mii’s have been part of my childhood since getting my first 2DS back in 2015.

I still remember playing the demo on my New 2DS XL. Shouldn’t have deleted the demo data in case I wanted the full game 😭💔

Either way, happy to see Nintendo is bringing back Mii’s.

@JohnnyMind Maybe in a year or two Nintendo will announce Switch 2 vouchers once the Switch 2 has a pretty good lineup of games.

If they’re also bringing this game to Switch 2 they better improve optimization so it runs better than on Switch.

Looks interesting based on how it’s said. Just wondering if upscaling from 720p or even up to 1440p or 2160p can be possible, especially if they also allow this through the dock.

@ouroborous Nintendo should just make platinum points the default point type going forward and make it even easier to get them.

Assuming the Switch 2 brings back themes, they could have a theme shop where we can spend platinum points to buy themes instead of using real money (about 100 or 200 points per theme).

@StewdaMegaManNerd Well I never said I gave up hope. If anything I wanna see them priced at $50 like what my Walmart did with Switch games back in 2021.

@Rainz The Gold Points having a 12-month expiration date also means they are ending the incentive altogether once any remaining gold points expire.

@Spider-Kev They never explicitly said vouchers were ending, just that the current ones wouldn’t work on Switch 2 games.

Switch 2 games might get their own vouchers later down the line but with a new price to accommodate the $70 price point.

Haven’t used these but will Nintendo have another incentive like this on Switch 2, because there’s also the off-chance Nintendo doesn’t see the need for incentives like these to get people to buy digital content anymore.

@Dev-N I don’t think they recognize any specific idol days. They didn’t even recognize Mar1na Day (Marina Day). I doubt PeAr1 Day (Pearl Day) will even be recognized, especially since it’s on April 1.

In many years time dedicated consoles won’t be made anymore.

Only a matter of time before PlayStation joins in, and from there competition will really heat up through the handheld market.

@westman98 There is a little hole beside the cartridge slot. What if that could end up being the microphone unless it’s just for something else?

If this means built-in voice chat on Switch 2, that’d be great so I don’t have to use the NSO app. But how would they implement it for docked mode?

@Vyacheslav333 Nintendo really needs to add new features to the Switch 2’s eShop, especially a review/rating system and even filters.
