Anyone think they’ll show off GTA V or some Xbox/PlayStation ports in this?

@johnedwin September would be off the list if they intend to use it for the Mario 40th anniversary Direct, maybe October or it won’t happen until next year

@Suketoudara If the Splatoon Raiders shadow drop on Nintendo Today out of nowhere isn’t a one-time thing, then it seems like that’s how they want to do it for first party games moving forward, whilst now only making Directs when they show third party games…

I forgot there’s more to it, the game is built around the PS5 and has lots of PS5 references, like a celebration of PlayStation for over 30 years.

I still have doubts on Astro Bot coming to Switch 2, not because I hate the game, but it’s more on the technical side:

The game requires the DualSense’s features, most of which aren’t even on Switch 2 controllers.

For them to port Astro Bot over, DualSense and analog trigger support would have to be added on Switch 2.

@SillyG Any chance there aren’t any special edition Switch 2’s until late next year?

@Yosher Yeah, seeing the list of countries it does seem pretty small, even with the additions of Mexico and Brazil.

Apart from the Netherlands they don’t even add countries like Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Hong Kong, etc

If Nintendo doesn’t disable screenshots or recording in this then we might end up seeing more leaks when it happens

Writing was on the wall after a while, especially with how Nintendo said they would price games based on value (like with Mario Kart World at $80 and Donkey Kong Bananza at $70). If they’re doing that there doesn’t seem to be a reason to even do Switch 2 Game Vouchers.

Perhaps during the Switch 2 they’ll be able to open it in more Latin American countries if they’re interested, especially if Nintendo wants to expand their footprint throughout Latin America…

It’s obvious Nintendo wants to prevent any piracy or hacking nowadays, but the fact they’ll online ban a console starts making it a huge problem when they return or sell on a website.

I’m actually surprised at how fast it is. Seems like most complaints on speed have been fixed. Looks like the extra RAM really helped in this case.

Speaking of which, the setup was even revealed online, but although the original video no longer exists someone archived it and reuploaded it.

That’s pretty smart, and also a good thing you can still add a screen protector without having to peel the film layer off. Some smart thinking with the Switch OLED.

@WhiteTrashGuy I may have mentioned this at the start of my comment already, but answer your question, it can be placed on top of the film without even having to remove it.

@nhSnork There was a rumor saying the Switch 2 would get themes in a later update but now I’m starting to think that rumor has been debunked. From the Switch 2 leak it still showed white and black themes but now they are actually called Basic Light Mode and Basic Dark Mode, implying Nintendo is being more straightforward to show that there won’t be more themes added.

Perhaps we might see Roblox come on Switch 2 at last considering it would run better than on Switch.

It already shows the white and black themes becoming Basic Light Mode and Basic Dark Mode. That wording implies we are only ever seeing white and black themes on Switch 2, which also means that rumor about more themes being added in a future update has been debunked.

@Suketoudara Maybe only Nintendo of America decided to be straightforward with themes since people keep thinking there would be more due to the original naming.

Not even sure if they also changed it for Canadian French, Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese.

@Suketoudara Yeah just starting to realize this name change was only done for American English settings. Either they didn’t bother changing it for the other languages or they just forgot and are working to update the names for the other languages.

@nhSnork Could this be considered a monkey’s paw moment where they do update themes but not how we expected?

Surprisingly this doesn’t mention a few things:

1. The Themes section has some renames. Basic White and Basic Black become Basic Light and Basic Dark, Nintendo probably realized this was something that should have been changed a long time ago or they just don’t want anymore confusing into thinking more themes will be added at some point. Either way this confirms no other themes are being added on Switch 1 and Switch 2.
2. The Nintendo Switch Online app has also been redesigned and has some Switch 2 UI sounds, also supporting dark mode now.

This has already happened since the start of the month. Ever since it happened I entered the app less, only entering whenever I remember. I have noticed that even though you can no longer record footage the audio is still recorded, only a matter of time before Nintendo finds out and patches that too.

Wow, the amount of stock they’re getting for launch day, we’re probably gonna have a massive launch period to date. I may not be getting one on launch day, but I’m happy for those who are.

The only revision that should come out sooner for now is one with improved battery life. A Switch 2 Lite and Switch 2 OLED can eventually happen, and if they want to go further, a Switch 2 Pro or just a more powerful dock.

If they’re not adding interior cover art again at least make it some sort of insert this time.

3 GB of RAM for the OS? That was one more than I expected, especially if it’s towards GameChat and improving eShop and web browser performance. Although could the more storage also mean we might see themes return at one point even though the chances seem pretty low?

EDIT: I’m starting to feel skeptical about whether the whole sheet is even true as I have seen people bashing Digital Foundry for releasing false information on Switch 2 specs before.

@Andee9001 Back in the Switch 1 Nintendo made it so console region determines if we use American English (when region is set to The Americas, Hong Kong/Taiwan/South Korea or Japan) or British English (when set to Europe or Australia/New Zealand).

Now in Switch 2 it seems like we can freely choose which one of those we want to use, along with Canadian French, European French, Latin American Spanish, European Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese.

Not planning on using it but it is a neat feature for those who plan on using it.

Anybody else notice how on the language tab it says English (United States) rather than just saying English?
