@Aeralto Nintendo shut down their Russian subsidiary in 2023, of course they no longer do business with Russia, presumably the only reason they keep translating in Russian is because there are other Russian-speaking communities outside of Russia they can cater those translations to even without official presence in this regions. Apparently Belarus has been sanctioned as well.

@xmkbest Russian was my first guess as a result of the war and Nintendo leaving Russia, but then again I kinda wrote above this part of my comment on why they keep translating in Russian despite no longer doing business with Russia. If they wanted they would’ve stopped translating their games in Russian altogether after they left.

@xmkbest Even if it is true I’m guessing it’s only gonna be for the Switch 2, and if adding Polish also means they have to stop translating in another language, it’s probably gonna be Russian that gets affected.

Will existing titles be updated to add Polish if it is true?

Coming back 7 years later, did those 4 years of this before the war really last that long?

Maybe because they realized there are other Russian-speaking areas they could translate their games for despite having no presence in those areas, although it seems like less games are getting Russian these days, for example: not even will Metroid Prime 4 get a Russian translation.

I also think it made no sense not to add Russian (as well as European Portuguese) to the Switch 2 Welcome Tour if that’s literally the tech demo/introductory guide for the Switch 2 (albeit a paid one). As a tech demo we’d think it would have all supported languages, not this time it seems.

Would be a shame tho because it actually would be nice to see them get more stuff like the US and Canada, like the My Nintendo Store and other NSO perks, especially in countries like México and Brazil which may seem to be 2 of the most known countries, but hoping to see Central and South America get those too.

I have read that Nintendo opened an online store in Saudi Arabia in partnership with the Saudi distributor, not sure if the same could be done for a My Nintendo Store in Latin America in partnership with JVLat.

@Enigk @Dragonite89 At this point will there ever be another console that will have a chance to beat PS2’s record, because somehow it feels like the Switch was the last chance in doing so…

@HeadPirate I was able to get a Switch 2 at the end of June for $500, so if that increases in price in the future too, I guess I could be considered lucky to get one while the price was low.

Has it been announced if it was an increase or drop yet because regardless it seems unlikely they’d even be able to drop it during the holidays, not that Nintendo themselves would do that anyway…

Anyone think they’ll show off GTA V or some Xbox/PlayStation ports in this?

@Suketoudara If the Splatoon Raiders shadow drop on Nintendo Today out of nowhere isn’t a one-time thing, then it seems like that’s how they want to do it for first party games moving forward, whilst now only making Directs when they show third party games…

I forgot there’s more to it, the game is built around the PS5 and has lots of PS5 references, like a celebration of PlayStation for over 30 years.

I still have doubts on Astro Bot coming to Switch 2, not because I hate the game, but it’s more on the technical side:

The game requires the DualSense’s features, most of which aren’t even on Switch 2 controllers.

For them to port Astro Bot over, DualSense and analog trigger support would have to be added on Switch 2.

@Yosher Yeah, seeing the list of countries it does seem pretty small, even with the additions of Mexico and Brazil.

Apart from the Netherlands they don’t even add countries like Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Hong Kong, etc

If Nintendo doesn’t disable screenshots or recording in this then we might end up seeing more leaks when it happens

Writing was on the wall after a while, especially with how Nintendo said they would price games based on value (like with Mario Kart World at $80 and Donkey Kong Bananza at $70). If they’re doing that there doesn’t seem to be a reason to even do Switch 2 Game Vouchers.

Perhaps during the Switch 2 they’ll be able to open it in more Latin American countries if they’re interested, especially if Nintendo wants to expand their footprint throughout Latin America…
