Re: Talking Point: Our 2025 Nintendo Gaming Predictions

Switch 2 announcement and reveal this month.

Then the showcase in March also presenting launch titles like 3D Mario, new Legend of Zelda, Pokémon Legends A-Z, maybe even Metroid Prime 4, new original games, and more that I’m not sure of. Maybe the Switch 2 will come with a pack-in game this time like with the Wii and Wii U.

Possible release in May or June.

@JohnnyMind Just because the Switch 2 is gonna use the Switch’s base OS doesn’t mean they’ll also straight up reuse the same UI (Microsoft did this between Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S). They’ll probably go more of the PlayStation route and redesign the Switch 2 UI like in those links I put up to differentiate it from the Switch.

Also likely for it to happen because of the extra power the Switch 2 is rumored to get. The Switch was limited in power and RAM, so the UI got stripped down so much, but maybe this time they’ll bring back customization like in the 3DS.

Re: Rumour: Supposed Images Of The 'Switch 2' Motherboard Appear Online

@KoopaTheGamer There are many theories on what the top USB-C port could be for. It may end up being just for charging when in tabletop mode, but then as I looked at it more, I was thinking it could also be to connect USB-C headsets if Switch 2 has voice chat straight from the console instead of requiring the NSO app.

Then I was also guessing it could be for a possible dual screen attachment allowing us to connect our Switch as a secondary screen, which would also be ideal if they bring DS games to NSO.

Not sure about this one, but a Switch 2 camera accessory may also be possible.

@JohnnyMind Still waiting to see what the UI looks like, because I found these UI concepts on Reddit and Twitter which look like they keep the simplicity of the Switch UI but also show backgrounds from different games.

I actually like them and hope for one of those to be the Switch 2’s UI (I somehow lean more towards the one from Twitter. Close to PS4/PS5 but looks more lively than the original Switch’s UI).

I also like how they put game backgrounds as themes there, which should be a feature on Switch 2. Maybe we’ll also get some sort of Theme Shop to not only get the themes we want, but also choosing the music we want to have playing in the HOME Menu. In fact, if they bring themes to Switch 2, they should also allow us to get some with My Nintendo Platinum Points.

Re: New Patent Seemingly Confirms Nvidia 4K AI Upscaling For Switch 2

"The example given is that a game with native 4K textures might need a 60GB download, but a 1080 native version might only need 20GB (which would allow it to fit on a 32GB Switch Cart, the current max size Nintendo produces for Switch 1)," adds Dale. "The idea being to do a 4X upscale on the device in realtime."

So, will Switch 2 cartridges not only have some sort of distinction from original Switch cartridges (whether it’s an added notch or just different pins) but also have more storage (maybe somewhere at 64GB) and higher speeds?

Re: Best Of 2024: Splatoon 3's 'Grand Festival' Was The Perfect Goodbye

MrCarlos46

@Dev1024 And then it also comes down to how they got shafted in their own game (from bringing back both Inkopolis hubs with the DLC to adding the skip news feature to even making them the bosses of the story mode and only having them help in the end) which left them with a bad reputation.

With that, no one’s sure if Nintendo will give Deep Cut a second chance or just retire them after Splatoon 3 and let the Squid Sisters and Off the Hook get the spotlight again.

Who knows, maybe Deep Cut will get the DLC campaign for Splatoon 4, or even a spinoff game.

Re: Feature: How Can Switch 2 'Fix' The eShop? Devs Share Their Storefront Stories

And to add for such Switch 2 "universal store that operates almost akin to the AppStore in that titles displayed will run on the hardware you’re navigating the store on" with different sections for Switch and Switch 2, I’m pretty sure that would already be the My Nintendo Store (as well as having extra selections like purchasing hardware, accessories, other merchandise, and even the My Nintendo Rewards), so they could use that as the Switch 2 eShop and add some extra features if they wanted to

Unless the universal store part refers to something else

Re: Nintendo Switch "Successor" Announcement Is Coming "This Fiscal Year"

MrCarlos46

We’re reaching the end of 2024, and no Switch 2 news other than backwards compatibility with Switch games and NSO coming over has been announced. Now it just leaves us wondering when it will be announced when will it come out, and what could be the price.

If the Switch 2 is gonna have a similar release timeframe as the Switch, 4-5 months, then it will probably come out near the end of the first half of 2025. For example, if the Switch 2 gets revealed in January, with a showcase in March or April, then it would leave it to get released in May or June.

But then since there are already many Switch 2 units manufactured and ready to get sent to stores, we might actually see it in March or April, but that could probably be a short amount of time to market it after a January reveal (it would only be 2 months from the time of announcement to release). A January reveal and March release could also have the reveal and showcase as one full event rather than separate ones.

And then release timeframes are also getting shorter these days, like Apple releasing new products only weeks after revealing them, so no surprise if Nintendo only has 2-3 months of marketing the Switch 2 after it gets revealed. If they do a January reveal and release it in February, I’m pretty sure it would already start selling out fast.

Now for the price: It’s pretty likely Switch 2 will be more expensive than the Switch with the extra power it’s set to have, as well as other things that can jack up the price. Probably somewhere at $399 or $449. But with you-know-who becoming president of the US soon, he also has plans to put tariffs on products imported from countries like China or Vietnam, so this could lead to the Switch 2’s price in the US being somewhere at $499, $549 or $599. We’ll just have to wait and see what they price it at, especially if the price is low before tariffs start being implemented and depending on how the tariffs get implemented, if they do.
