@myerscereal Apart from 3DS and New 3DS, Nintendo usually doesn’t do mid generation refreshes that actually have more power than the base model (something like PlayStation and Xbox do).

@Darkri74345 Based on an FCC ruling there was no wireless cast protocol on the dock, so it’s unlikely the C button will be for casting the Switch 2 screen over.

@drypaphmrbro But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy the normal model. It has the cartridge slot for those who love to use physical games, but if you only want to play digital games, then you don’t have to use the cartridge slot.

@drypaphmrbro Nintendo said they wanna keep releasing their games physically, so don’t expect a digital only Nintendo console anytime soon.

@anoyonmus Xbox would have to pitch in on that too so they can also find out how the game can be played on Switch 2.

@anoyonmus I would actually like to see some sort of Xbox controller compatibility on Switch 2 if they want to bring Forza Horizon 5, except Xbox’s ABXY button layout will be pretty confusing if they give it full compatibility unless Xbox changes the layout in making Switch 2 compatible controllers.

@tobsesta99 Maybe something like a full red bar with the vertical Switch 2 logo like PS5, or maybe the Switch symbol on a box in one side, followed by a white tab coming out showing the Nintendo Switch 2 wordmark (and then also just the Nintendo Switch wordmark if it’s a cross-gen game).

Hopefully the spine is thicker so they can add the game’s logo on there again.

Unlikely manuals will return unless they wanted to do so. They’re probably just upping the size to make it less confusing when buying Switch 2 or Switch 1 games.

As for cartridges themselves, I don’t think they’re gonna change the physical shape this time around unlike when they added a notch for 3DS cartridges. They’re probably just gonna be the same but have more storage (64 GB or even 100 GB) and higher speeds, but I can see them do a different color like red or dark blue.

Doesn’t seem like Nintendo will add analog triggers anytime soon.

If I can get a Switch 2 and Forza Horizon actually comes to it, I might consider picking it up. Just hopefully it’s actually complete on cart without requiring any sort of download after inserting.

Possible chance of region locked Switch 2 even though other platforms don’t region lock their consoles anymore?

I’ve seen the promo art and images from the actual game and they don’t even look alike. Even one of the characters in the promo art has mismatched shoes (a white shoe and a brown shoe). These kinds of errors happen when you use AI. And the fact the main character in the promo art looks a whole lot like Mario.

@Baker1000 I’d say the tickets are automatically registered to the account and if someone else tries to use them with their Nintendo Account, they can ban them and the person who sold the tickets because the NDA said they couldn’t resell them.

Now Nintendo’s really gonna have to figure out how to prevent anything like this to happen again for future events, because then a lot of unregistered people will then find a way to enter. Nintendo’s gonna find out and then tell eBay to ban whoever is selling the tickets and cancel them (+ banning their Nintendo account if needed), and if anyone bought the tickets, refund them for buying a scam listing.

It’s only a matter of time before Nintendo finds out about these listings and takes them down. The only way Nintendo could have prevented this is if they wrote the names of the winners on the tickets, plus requiring a Nintendo Account check at entry to verify they belong to the same person.

@kalosn We may also see 720p to 1080p upscaling in handheld mode which both resolutions look pretty close.

@DwaynesGames If Nintendo actually considered writing the name of the account owner who got the tickets, there’d be less of a chance they get resold online, especially if the events require a Nintendo account at entry to verify the tickets belong to them.

Not sure when Nintendo will find out about it and how they will take action following tickets being resold online.

Pretty crazy if you ask me. How did Nintendo not realize this would happen? It was stated in the NDA that they can’t sell the tickets, but some people just didn’t listen.

Even worse if the tickets don’t have names of the people who got them, making it easier for a person who didn’t initially register bring the resold tickets to the events and register them as part of their account to gain entry.

Pretty much shows this will be Donkey Kong’s new design going forward.

I don’t hate the new design, but I think it will grow on me over time.

@HeadPirate And even there were people worrying about what could happen because of the Switch 2 using 8nm, like less battery life unless Nintendo underclocks speeds in handheld mode, except we’re not sure what 8nm will actually do.

@HeadPirate It’s because in a Switch 2 hardware demo at Gamescon 2023, DLSS 3.5 was used.

@HeadPirate Not sure about 760p, I’d say 720p would be more likely, but I’d be fine with a 720p/760p to 1080p upscale as there wouldn’t be much difference between both resolutions.

Although it’s still unknown if they’ll use DLSS 2, DLSS 3 or DLSS 3.5.

@HeadPirate Depending on how they plan to use DLSS if they bring it to Switch 2, hopefully it doesn’t bring disappointing results, welp, if I can notice it easily.

Maybe if they do native 1080p and probably upscale to 4K, because I’m not sure if that’s more likely than native 4K.

@HeadPirate At most I expect 1080p resolution without DLSS turned on. Most of the time I can’t even tell the difference between 720p/1080p and 4K.

@JohnnyMind Even if they do consider bringing the My Nintendo Store to other regions, it definitely won’t be this year or the next. It will probably be 2 years or more before such store comes to Latin America and other regions.

@JohnnyMind How did I forget? Not every region even has a My Nintendo Store. For example: Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Brazil don’t have one. This just makes it even less likely Nintendo ever uses the My Nintendo Store as the storefront on any console unless they launch it in the other regions they officially distribute/have an eShop in.

At that point I’d prefer the universal eShop route with a redesign and new features as listed above.

A few things are still not disclosed: If the dock will have a LAN port like the Switch OLED dock and a fan, as well as no dock door this time around.

I usually can’t tell the difference between 720p/1080p and native 4K, but hopefully the DLSS capabilities are used in an impressive way.

One thing I hope is for the Switch 2 screen to also not look as pixelated as the Switch’s screen.

If any Xbox game interests me and it’s on Switch 2, I’ll just get it there instead of buying an Xbox.

Could we see Nintendo and Valve partner one of these days?

@Arawn93 Definitely not the same price as the Switch, but not as expensive as the PS5. Maybe $349 or $399.

@JohnnyMind Maybe Nintendo is taking the criticism the Switch eShop got and is trying to fix it for Switch 2.

Except if such universal store happens and it also gets brought over to Switch 1, There’s a possible chance it lags if the new one is built to be an app this time and then has to be converted into a web version.

@JohnnyMind I think they forgot to check the quality games listed as “shovelware.” Maybe do separate categories for shovelware: Quality Shovelware, and Low Quality Shovelware

@JohnnyMind Unless the reason the Switch eShop looks as it is right now is to future-proof it for future generations, although I don’t think that would be the case.

I still wanna see a universal eShop for both tho which also fixes the Switch eShop’s issues and adds new stuff, kinda something like this, Better eShop by the team at Nintendo Life.

We’ll probably see them do this for some time, at least until they find a new concept to work with, which these days who knows if they will find a new concept for another console.

@Brady1138 No surprise if they choose to just ditch the stationary console and go the handheld way in the future (Nintendo already did this with the Switch and it’s also a hybrid console also allowing TV play, as will Switch 2).

I’d like to point out that Nintendo UK is just a branch of Nintendo of Europe, so they’re the ones that handle distribution, marketing and customer service for Nintendo products in the UK. They don’t have a say on which games get released or not. That’s done by Nintendo of Europe, which then lets the other European branches (including Nintendo UK) know.

@AG_Awesome But if 8nm does affect battery life, expect battery levels similar to Switch V1 when playing highly demanding games if they don’t underclock.

If that’s what happens, we’ll probably see a revised model with improved battery life in a year or two.

Still not sure if they will actually do that or avoid another Switch 1 scenario and put a pretty good battery life from the start so they don’t have to change it later on.

@Serpenterror If Nintendo has to wait longer, I think we’ll see it in November (similar to Wii and Wii U)
