I still remember spending the first few hours just waffling about with my NS1 before I even popped Super Mario Odyssey in. I’ll likely do the same with the NS2. Something about breaking in a new device by organizing folders and software is so comforting. It’s like moving into a new house and finding the right spot for all your belongings 🤓👍

I’m ashamed to admit that this game came out during a time where I was starting to walk away from Nintendo. I still bought and played SMG2, but it was years later and through a preowned purchase. To this day I’ve still only played through it once. I’ve been holding out hope for a port of any sort. The Wii U of all things brought me back to the light, and I’m never leaving!

I managed to find it pre-owned which took some of the sting of the fully price sticker away. Fantastic game that I never managed to 100% back on the Wii. Happy to say that I completed it on the Switch on classic mode!

I went my entire NS1 lifespan without purchasing a single accessory. I’m going to do everything in my power to do the same for the NS2!

What a rollercoaster this has been!

I’m a sucker for retro ports like this, so I’m glad to hear the feedback has been heard. I’ll hold out for a steeper discount then happily check it out. In the meantime, I’ve always got my N64 cartridge!

As a solo gamer that doesn’t do multiplayer or online, this was going to be the deciding factor. This didn’t do it for me unfortunately. I’d have loved for this to be more of an “adventure” mode of sorts rather than just hitting switches and collecting coins. I’ll probably still get this game, but it’s going in my “buy used in 3-5 years” bin.

I can see myself spending hours marveling over this before I even crack open a game

@danzoEX this is a very Nintendo thing to do. Release this to drive up subs because they know we’re hungry for it. Then, a year later they’ll release HD on switch 🤣

I’m really excited to see what NS1 games they’ve got left in the tank. I’m happy to pick up whatever smaller scale games or remasters to pad things out a bit. I’ll be upgrading to NS2 but it’s looking to be a bit pricier than I originally expected.

It’s crazy how this game has felt like a myth for so long and we are actually getting close to seeing its release. Maybe.

My willingness to believe these statements and eventually purchase this game at that price will depend on how fleshed out Free Roam mode is. I want a full on campaign with objectives etc to feel like that price is justified. I didn’t really get the mileage out of MK8 that I probably should have for what I sunk into it (including the DLC), and I don’t think the price is worth it for me if it’s mostly just more Mario Kart with the ability to wander aimlessly.

@-wc- this is how I felt watching the entire C-button/gamechat pitch. I instantly started wondering how much of the console I’ll be paying for that I’ll never use.

It will be interesting to see if Nintendo eats some of the cost. I don’t see that happening, but it may be the only way to salvage the launch.

One of the things I really wanted from MKW was more non-Mario characters. I had my fingers crossed for characters like Olimar, Kirby, Samus, etc. They gave us inklings, so why not?

My answer was ‘yes’ before reading the article. It remains so after reading the article.

Really happy to see this. I didn’t doubt it, but I’m glad to hear you can switch between control modes as I’m still not completely sold on mouse controls.

“While supplies last” is funny, because the supplies are:

• the console (plenty of supply)
• the digital game (unlimited supply)
• the box
  So I guess what this mean is “while we have enough boxes that have the Mario Kart art printed on” 🤣

The direct was 🔥 for sure. But the cost of everything reported after has taken me from “day 1 purchase” to an existential “what am I doing with my life”

I may be alone in this, but I have very little interest in mouse mode. I can’t see a time where I would be able to sit down with a dedicated flat surface to move a joy con around on. Still interested in the other benefits of the NS2 version though!

I’m not one to penny pinch, but I’m pretty disappointed. $630 in Canada is over $700 after taxes. Pushing $800 just to play even one game! Yikes!

@larryisaman I came here to write literally the same thing. We’re looking at $43 CAD in the north. Even with all the enhancements and TLC, that still seems bonkers.

I had to do some sleuthing to make sure this wasn’t an April Fools joke! Here’s hoping a good chunk is spent on games!

@Anti-Matter it’s a neat idea. I think they’d worry that people would resell the cartridge though

I don’t have anything to say about this rumour, but just wanted to drop a note of gratitude for this community. It’s been really nice having a place to go to bask in all of the hype surrounding this console launch, knowing that everyone here has probably been feeling a similar confusing blend of excitement, anxiety, and joy in the lead up to this direct!

I’m continuing on my backlog denting mission with KOTOR II after putting Tunic to rest after hitting the midpoint (I find as I get older, such brutally difficult insanity causes me stress in my actual life lol).

Switch 2 launch title confirmed 🤣

I gave this a go after nabbing it on sale (only $3 CAD!). It was a fun romp that held my attention for two hours. But I will say that it is worth just that and nothing more. The combat was much more frustrating than I was expecting (even after reading reviews). Ultimately, the unfair deaths and repetition after said deaths took me out of the game and only reminded me of all the adult responsibilities I was avoiding which felt more fun than this game.

I used to love 100%ing my games, but that’s changed in my mid 30s with 3 kids. I opt to do my best if and only if the experience remains challenging and enjoyable. Once it crosses the line into monotony (ie. farming for coins to make some arbitrary checkbox in-game purchase), I have the good sense to recognize that I’m not respecting my time and acknowledge that it’s time to move on.

For me it’s all about release date and price. I’d like to know when and how hard it will be to convince my wife that I need this new switch that, to her, is the same as my current switch 🤣

@B_Lindz i’ll second this! Although I did find it quite a bit less challenging. Not necessarily a bad thing though. A nice light RPG.

The switch is the first console I’ve ever found myself backlogged on. My goal is to not let it happen again on Switch 2!

This is exciting news! I somehow missed out on THPS4, probably because it was right around the time where I was getting into actual skateboarding a lot more 🤣

I’ve assembled a nice little console museum in my home studio and have a nice little spot waiting for my OG switch.

I was die hard during gen 1 and 2 but grew out of the series at a young age so I missed a lot of entries. I popped back in for Pearl on the DS and it didn’t grab me so I quit again until my kids got me back into it years later. I’m totally open to remakes just to make things a little easier to catch up on!

I’m working my way through Pokémon Violet on handheld while beginning the back half of Twlight Princess HD on the big screen. Manifesting a switch port so it’s easier to bring it with me to bed 🤣

This is great. Can’t wait to revisit Halo and whatever else they throw at us. I owned the first two Xbox consoles but now fall into the category of people they are targeting who will quite simply never buy one of their consoles. Nothing personal, it’s just priorities changing. Nintendo has always had my heart and gaming with my young kids is a better fit with Nintendo.

@N00BiSH on the plus side, it seems like Nintendo has finally figured out that people want purchases tethered to an account. It sounds like all digital purchases will follow us to the NS2. I’d love if they could just make the VC work that way!

$500 CAD is probably the most I can get away with. I’m a father of three that still needs to put food on the table!

I’m hopeful there will be more of an incentive to subscribe. I didn’t renew my subscription because I just didn’t use it. I’m overloaded with a backlog and I don’t typically play online. Give me GC NSO and I’m there though!
