@Pho You are not understanding what I'm saying, or what I believe Ubisoft is saying about the way they want to use AI.
AI should be a tool, not the author. Creativity still has to come from people (the ideas, intent, emotional decisions, etc). AI can help execute those ideas faster or more efficiently, but it shouldn’t decide what the art is or why it exists.
AI itself isn’t evil. It’s neutral. Any ethical issues come from how it’s trained and how it’s used, just like any other tool in history.
If AI ever generates an entire game end-to-end (code, art, writing, design) creativity goes bankrupt. The result will feel soulless, and players will move away from it. Gamers can tell when something was made with care, intention, and we value that.
The future isn’t AI replacing creativity — it’s AI supporting human creativity!
@Pho It's a tool that when used to augment the creative process (not replace it!) can potentially benefit everyone. It should be used to aid your thinking, not think for you! AI in and of itself is not evil.
"Player-facing AI" can be a brilliant use of AI. This article's author I think is overreacting. Examples of how this could be good for gamers and the industry:
smarter/more reactive NPCs (that we can communicate with via mic)
procedurally gen side quests (maybe the game notices you like to collect Korok seeds for example and creates missions for you based on that)
enemies that "learn" how you attack so you can't just use the same tactics all the time, making the game more difficult/fun
Overall this could be a very good thing. The "AI is the devil" talk (I'm probably exaggerating, but you get the point) has got to stop.
The latest Wolfenstein is underrated for its gameplay, and it’s too bad that its unnecessary raunchy storytelling and M rating held it back from being great.
@Stormkyleis What's also nice with GameChat is you can hide your screen if you want as well. I did that while playing Beyond with my brother. That way we played the game together while not spoiling the experience.
Nice article, but would hate to be spoiled watching someone else's playthrough. You should try it in Mario Kart World free roam. Feels like GameChat was made for it.
@MarioLinkSamus Update: Game can be played via Gameshare with 1 copy and runs mostly at 30 fps and sometimes 60 fps when split up. https://youtu.be/sKVrnuQlQQ0 Awesome, thanks Nintendo.
@JJtheTexan One of the worst tracks in Nintendo history, agree. This song along with a few others is the reason why this Metroid is the worst musically in the franchise. Thanks for sharing.
@Jack_Goetz According to my analysis with AI: DLSS on Switch 2 isn’t hardcoded in the sense of being unchangeable: the accelerators are hardware, but the models and integration are software and, per Nintendo’s patent, are designed to be delivered and updated over the network or with games. Expect improvements to arrive via system firmware/drivers and per-game patches over the console’s life. https://patents.google.com/patent/US20250086753A1/en?oq=US20250086753A1
Enjoyed both Galaxy games more than Odyssey. Better music and gameplay. New assist mode looks great. Worth a purchase if you've never played either one.
I couple few tweaks and this game could have long legs:
much deeper options (follow Rocket League rubric)
redesign gameplay elements to be less "realistic" and more fun. Suggestion: instead of the needlessly difficult to perform bunny hop to jump, just press ZR+ZL to do a short rocket boost in the air (rebounding would instantly be better). Place refreshing rocket fuel pickups on court (again follow Rocket League).
@Aeralto Yes, but money (whether for profit or non-profit) is money. Nintendo has a responsibility to protect its well established and highly respected brand.
Nintendo is doing the right thing. It looks bad on paper, but they need to protect themselves and not let anyone use their name to profit (charitable or not). Be patient.

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Fails To Meets Sega's Expectations
Played the demo and was disappointed. Hoping it'd be good like Crash Team Racing, but it felt sloppy and rushed. Not surprised it hasn't sold great.

@Jborgy Easter weekend is a much more profitable release window than Mar 10.
Re: ICYMI: The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Is Now Coming To Cinemas Two Days Earlier
Smart choice. Better to release it on April fools than Good Friday. Looking forward to it.
