Mark my words, in 10 years there will be lots of “unappreciated gem” videos about this game. It has really unique design and an insane number of different mechanics that it introduces and throws away. It’s a game where you can’t even get hurt, and yet 100%ing even one level is very hard without looking things up.
I have some gripes but overall this is my favorite switch 2 game so far
I have loved year 1 of the switch 2. Honestly the line up of first party games is weird and quirky in a way that usually only happens at the end of a console's life. I know it's not ideal for the console's mass popularity, but it has made me very happy.
I have bought maybe 10 physical games this year and can already imagine the videos that will be made in 10 years about stuff like Yoshi and the mysterious book, or air riders, and how we didn't know how good we had it with all these strange side projects.
Even as a PS5 owner, the fact is I get most of my gaming in while waiting to pick up my kids at different activities, and the switch 2 is elite in this scenario - at the very least it stops me from being like all the other waiting parents scrolling on their phones.
My one wish is for a killer app for using both joycons as mice. This "two-mice-plus-gyros" is completely unique to the switch and has a lot of possibilities. At the very least, give me weird snap on devices like fishing rods that use the mouse sensor in a new way. I just love this kind of stuff
I pre bought it a while ago and am so excited to play it. Games with these art styles just make me happy and Yoshi series has the most consistently great art style, even if the games themselves have been I consistent.
I really just need Walmart to stop emailing me every 10 minutes to say it’s delayed. I honestly think it will arrive on day 1 and this is a glitch, like it thinks it should’ve sent it to me already and hasn’t, so is auto generating a message. I’ve gotten like 30 emails
As someone who’s been doing this a while, I feel that the switch 2 year 1 lineup is the kind that is complained about at the time but will be looked back on with great nostalgia in 5 years or so. Another air riders! A 3D Donkey Kong game! Pokopia! Lots of strange swings and side ideas. I’m loving it personally, and believe me I’d like a new Mario or Zelda as much (or more) than the next guy
My daughter downloaded the demo and made characters for our family. Within minutes we were laughing our butts off. It really took me by surprise how weird and funny it is. Will definitely be buying it
I've become fully sucked into Clair Obscur - it is everything I want out of a video game, and the first game in 15 years of marriage where my wife asks for regular plot updates.
If I beat the game this weekend, I'll wait before jumping on a new game to get on top of some life stuff
I’m a 90% physical buyer and this is honestly fine with me. Physical games have resale value, especially Nintendo games. I know I can recoop 30-50% of the cost if I want to sell it on a marketplace, or keep them for decades, lend them to friends, etc.
I primarily played this on ps4 so this level of performance won’t bother me at all - on that version, sometimes creatures in the distance moved as if they were stop motion. Didn’t matter one bit - still one of the best games I’ve ever played and it’ll be incredible to have it handheld
I will probably wait to buy it used as it is the kind of game people buy for their kids then sell once they’ve moved on.
Im happy to see switch 2 exclusives selling so well and glad they are not making these cross gen. In the case of ps5 it seems like 90% of the games I cared about could be bought for ps4 which takes some of the momentum out of the current generation. Better to move forward in my opinion
@Dev-N based on the series history I’d assume GoodFeel made this game until proven otherwise. The file size is likely a mix of better switch 2 textures and also not quite the compression expertise of Nintendo first party
Ever since I saw Yoshi Story stills before its release on n64, I’ve loved the art style of these games more than any other (with paper mario as a close 2nd). It’s cemented me as someone who cares about art style over raw graphical fidelity, even if that original n64 game wasn’t as good as I’d hoped it would be
One of my favorite series, so I don’t want to know anything else besides the release date. Very excited.
For people who think it’s too easy, often 100%ing a yoshi game is slightly harder than beating an average-difficulty game, which is just right for me (not counting original yoshis island which gets very difficult)
I’ll bring my kids but don’t care much about the movies, I was watching for any hint about a new game. Miyamoto saying that the movie is the centerpiece of the 40th anniversary didnt bode well for any big Mario game announcements in the near term, tho it doesn’t guarantee anything
I’m one of them. I’ve never played a resident evil game, but positive reviews and excitement about it being day 1 on a Nintendo console caused me to buy the generations collection
I’ve never played the series, but the strong reviews convinced me to buy the generation pack. It’s my first GKCs, but the price point and packaging won me over
I missed the 3DS generation entirely and on a whim picked up a new 3DS XL around 2022 I think, anyway the eshop was still open.
Having played and loved the switch for a few years, I just couldn’t believe the charm the 3DS had, all the little apps, bells and whistles. The 3D worked great and was (and is) amazing to me. It sort of downgraded the switch in my mind, even through its library is superior
I love that they are being completist and bringing back even less successful parts of their history, but I can’t fathom $100 for a hunk of plastic without electronics
There was a point during switch 1 where I was a 100% collector of everything Nintendo put out, but based on some of these prices I am really pulling back. I imagine I’m not alone, and based on peoples’ economic sentiment I think they’ll have an uphill battle matching the sales numbers they had from 2017-2024
I don’t want difficulty settings because I would probably get frustrated and use them. I love well designed games that don’t offer you an olive branch.
I’m really split on which version to buy. I am not usually a guy who cares too much about performance, but the DQ3 upgrade does look great on switch 2. And I am a physical collector. Oy…
I downloaded the upgrade for 3 and it’s glorious. Free but I would’ve paid for it. And this one you can’t have, free or paid. The inconsistency is strange
This is great news. I’m going to dive in, hesitantly.
I tend to like most Nintendo stuff a lot and not agree with the average complaints I see on here, but boy was I disappointed with the jamboree expansion pack. The base game is one of my favorites, but some of the choices in how they bolted on the extra content was just bizarre to me. Sounds like this was better integrated
I played this on ps4 and it was rough in spots - at times enemies in the background moved like stop motion - but it didn’t matter because the game was so overwhelmingly great. So if they can get it close to that performance, it’ll still be better than 99% of games
Man, now that Silksong has a release date, this is shaping up to be one of the best stretches for games in a long time. Forgotten land expansion, Silksong, air riders, Metroid prime (hopefully!!). So much stuff that’s right up my alley
I really am getting burned out on every article being about framerate, with reviewers giving ranges, dips and guesstimates. I understand it’s important but wish it wasn’t the first thing mentioned. Often because many times I personally don’t notice or I do a little but it doesn’t matter because I love the game. It creates a cry wolf thing where a game that really truly suffers due to framerate is hidden among games that are honestly fine to play
I did the global jam and was super impressed with the game, but I don’t know if I have the skill and wherewithal to get good at the game (I was really bad).
The control scheme was awesome and it’s clear to me that the new joy cons are 10x better at motion. That was always a complaint of mine with switch 1 - any motion stuff felt almost random
There is a very good chance my friends and I will buy this and try it out for a laugh. $15 seems a little steep for the experience, but also I’ve spent more on a coffee and scone
I can’t believe they couldn’t even make a cheap switch 2 cartridge for games under 10GB. In a way I feel for companies that would have to buy a 64GB card for their 4gb game and lose 15% of their profit on physical sales.
I’m not happy with the key cards but I understand the decision making of these companies. It sounds like Nintendo didn’t give them very good choices
I’m old enough that I used to play through games with a paper strategy guide on the coffee table. I am really hesitant to have my phone out during a game, even though the concept is really cool
I missed this game the first time around and tried playing the switch port - the backgrounds were super blurry and the high-res-but-old textures were super sharp and stood out like a sore thumb. I had to drop it, which is too bad because I’ve heard so much great stuff about the game
I looked at my purchase list for 2025 and realized that it’s been a really light year so far and most games I played were not 2025 releases. If I had to vote, I’d say switch 2 welcome tour - I really really like it; no irony, no anger over the price. Little mini game collections like that make me happy.
I enjoyed seeing the move where DK can launch himself off of a rock he’s holding and get a second jump, more of that will make me excited about the movement possibilities in this game, as that’s what really excites me about 3D platformers
These upgrades are great - I am all for them - but I hope they pick a cut-off point and transition to switch 2 only within a year or so.
In the playstation world, so many games have come out with PS4 versions even recently, that I as a casual playstation fan have held off on getting a PS5. I'd prefer Nintendo not go down this road and really focus on releasing a lot of swich 2 games and make the argument for folks to upgrade.
I’m going to be honest you guys, I love this game. It’s the main thing I’m playing on switch 2 and I’ve already put more time into it than many games that cost more than $10.
I know this is unpopular, but I’m okay with their stance that software shouldn’t be free. I wish the mini games were expanded to be two player but otherwise I’m very happy with it. It’ll keep me occupied until bananza
Elden Ring has a lot of story as far as lore, mood, etc, but doesn’t really have a narrative like the last of us for example. So they will have to make it up based on what they got. And decide how much CGI generated stuff to fill the world with, and at what quality level

Re: Yoshi And The Mysterious Book Charms And Delights With New Trailer
@Not_Soos I have gotten 15 emails about the pre order being delayed, it has to be a glitch. Honestly not worth the $10 savings to deal with it
Re: Nintendo To Counter Switch 2's Global Price Hikes With Robust Software Lineup

Re: Dive Into The Pages Of Yoshi And The Mysterious Book In This New Overview Trailer
Anyone who complains about these games being too easy should try to 100% them, which provides a great challenge I think.
Re: Digital Foundry Delivers Its Tech Review Of Pragmata On Switch 2
I don’t see the benefit of comparing switch 2 to PS5, like who is expecting parity? Maybe steam deck since they are both handhelds.
But mostly I just want to know does it look okay on its own terms, play okay, etc.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream
