As part of Eastasiasoft's 'Spring Showcase' for 2022, retro action platformer Wife Quest has been announced for the Switch. You also won't have to wait long to play it; the game will be launching on March 16th.
Described as "humorous and often naughty", Wife Quest will see you take on the role of Mia, a former warrior on a mission to rescue her beloved husband Fernando, who has been kidnapped by a group of 'seductive monster girls' (yeah right, Fernando!). Defeating each boss will net Mia new abilities which you'll be able to upgrade through an in-game store. To round it off, the game also features additional minigames and unlockable gallery items like music and images.
You can check out the trailer above to see the game in action. Here's a full breakdown from Eastasiasoft:
In humorous and often naughty action platformer Wife Quest, you’ll take the role of charismatic former warrior Mia as she sets off to battle the seductive monster girls who keep kidnapping her beloved husband Fernando! Explore the lands surrounding your marital home in vibrant side-scrolling pixel art style, slashing through enemies and fearlessly navigating a wide variety of hazardous environments.
With each enemy boss she takes down, Mia gains new abilities to help her overcome the trials ahead. From goblins and witches to slimes and more, Mia will have plenty of monster girls to punish along the way, each with unique animations! There’s also an equipment shop, mini-games, gallery images to unlock and additional modes to discover that reward you with new skins for Mia. Will you help Mia defeat the dark elf Morganna and reunite her with Fernando?
In our opinion, it honestly sounds like Fernando has a bit of thinking to do. But what do you think? Will you be picking up Wife Quest when it launches on March 16th? Let us know in the comments!

“What will they think of next”.
Honestly, it does look kinda fun
Feels weird but also fun at the same time. A wifey as the main lead is also interesting too as it's usually the other way around when it comes to story like this.
The music is just Fernando by Abba on a perpetual loop.
Actually looks like a pretty good game. Title is hilarious.
I don't think Fernando wants to be rescued.
I'll stick with Shantae games.
I enjoy a good Metroidvania so I'll check it out. It reminds me of Shantae.
It honestly doesn't look all that "naughty". Character designs don't look all that out of the ordinary for your typical JRPG or Japanese action game (I'm well aware the game isn't Japanese), and it's only rated "T".
Not saying it's a bad or a good thing, just pointing it out.
Looks like a very decent, cute and fun game with just a touch of teasing humour and designs. Also those sprites and animation seems really lovely too!
Almost a shame they went with a title as generic as that, it screams "censored super bad lame nsfw game you better avoid" which is not what the game looks like by the trailer
whats naughty about it ?
“Knock knock?”
“Who’s there?”
“Waifu”
“Waifu who?”
“Waifu is filing for divorce”
“…Oh no”

@dew12333
Nah. @jojobar and @RR529 are right. If such a "naughty" angle exists then it's really not on display here. The art style and tone are perfectly in line with other Japanese made products. If anything, I would say that it's understated in that sense.
This is really just a bit of tongue in cheek cheesecake stuff and nothing more. Historically speaking, there are actually numerous other mainstream games such as DOA and Lolipop Chainsaw that push that "bouncy factor" exploitation more.
TBH, I'm not really sure that what's on display here is even naughty by T-rated standards. Street Fighter V's Mika pushes thing more than the few bouncy "skin" pixels in this game. Visually, especially for a low res metroidvania game, it's no more visually shocking than Shantae.
This game might shock so-called "bible belt" moms whose kids are pestering them for a new game, but certainly nobody with any exposure to the wealth and breadth of what mainstream gaming has had to offer lo these past 40 years.
it dont look as bad as you guys made it out to be. i'll try it out haha
I'm intrigued by this game...I'm hoping it will be good clean fun...
@cookepuss I think the same about many of those games your referring too. Any interest in titillation I might have had in the past ended with Benny Hill,. Also seeing this in the shops in Japan didn't make me feel anymore comfortable about it.
@dew12333
In my world you see more naughty stuff if you watch a random netflix series .
I really don't see the age limit thing though... There are dozens of Japanese Games who do that but what I saw here seems like all sexualized girls look grown up ( I didn't watch the trailer too carefully, maybe I missed something)
@Yoshii69
Yeah. It looks fun. I completely expect the naughty factor to be the sort of "made you look" and "all in good fun" tongue in cheek stuff that doesn't take itself too seriously. It doesn't look all that exploitative.
@dew12333
"Benny Hill"... Love the reference. Hadn't seen him in years. Now I won't be able to get that theme song out of my head.
For those of you old enough to remember, there was once a time when Sailor Moon and Valis had people messing themselves with how naughty it was to display teens or petite women that way. In hindsight, people made WAY too much of it.
This game is more "wink & nod" than full on tentacles and teens stuff. It's T-rate cheese and looks fun. My suggestion for the uptight among us... "Unclench and roll with it."
Could be good. shrug
@jojobar
That's the thing about Japanese style games. MANY full grown women are made to look like an underaged girls. Nobody out there thinks too much over it. In the West, however, devs are forced to tone down the breasts, cover up a tiny cleavage line, or explicitly state that they're adults (for the idiots out there). It's silly. People are losing their sh** over pixels PIXELS.
Honestly this game is pretty good lol. Exploring is fun and I loved the comedy. I’ll probably pick it up again on switch
@Sora181
Yeah. I'm looking at it a bit more on Steam and it actually looks kinda funny. Visually, there's something there that vaguely reminds me of the old school "so bad that it's good" NES game Athena.
Here's another trailer (PC) for those who want to see more gameplay:

Playing a pretty lady fighting other pretty ladies in order to... get back to her husband? Bleh! Forget the hubbie!
Seems naughty in more of a playful Shante-esque way as opposed to more NSFW fare. Looks fun, too! Might check it out.
Physical release pls?
@jojobar This one is definitely mild compared to other games.
@cookepuss I can't help but think this type of thing is the 'new age' Benny Hill. But my mate calls me a prude so I know I'm no good for an objective opinion on this subject.
@cookepuss Goodness, I got nostalgic when you metioned Athena haha. I love that game, though I will say the arcade version is better lol. Maybe that's why I like the game
Not sure why it's being described as "naughty" though. It's pretty standard anime stuff. At most it would be T rated
Funny how a game called Wife Quest looks like it's far less focused on anime titonkas than your usual anime game. I hate those, it always feels like "oh is the game not good or why does it need titinkos to create an appeal?".
This game has you >think< it's an anime bobbys focused game but in actuality - it's a game focused on being a good game, from the looks of it. They seem to mock the unnecessary booberisms of other game. I like it, i'm interested.
And yes, i did have fun coming up with creative censorship circumventions tyvm 😄
Weird name, but it looks like fun. Kind of reminds me of Goblin Sword, which was a nice little romp for its price.
Not seeing much in the way of 'naughtiness' but I guess it'll be good anyway. I wish the in-game sprites looked more like Genzoman's legendary art.
@nessisonett It's not a horror game, is it?
I guess "Waifu Quest" was taken already?
@BloodyMurder The small Japanese lettering above the English does says "Waifu Kuesuto"... so probably just localization, trying to make it less weeby, even though that's their target audience.
Ha ha ha. What the heck? Another "Benny Hill" Indie scampers onto the eShop. TBF, the visuals (no, not the waifus) and gameplay look "decent" (even if the game's premise isn't, ha.). Why didn't the just call it "Waifu Quest"? That sounds even funnier in my opinion.
I’m I a bad person for thinking this actually looks good?
Looks very good. I'm particularly a fan of Shantae: Risky's Revenge and Pirate's Curse, so this looks up my street.
Day one for me
Reminds me of Shantae as well. And some of the ads that are shown on this website.
@Quarth to them it is ( they have me on ignore but I can almost guess that the comment was of the, for lack of a better term, 'woke' nature.)

This looks like a reskin of a pornographic game called Eroico. Going to assume that is why it was called "Naughty".
It looks like fun, and it's good to see a woman rescuing her man for once. Those seductive monster girls would be so terrifying to him, or her.
@khululy No, it was a joke about the background music being ABBA's Fernando on a loop. That sounds like a nightmare to me.
No need for you to put crappy "woke" accusations into the conversation.
Graphics look a bit meh. Which is a big downside for a game advertising itself as eye-candy.
Looks kinda fun actually
@Quarth Well I was wrong this time but yeah ABBA loops are nightmarish.
Regarding this person, nothing about this are accusations it's just how they are in general.
They put me on ignore simply because I do not share their view of things, that is enough for me to not value their opinions on anything but that is not the point here.
>Sees "Naughty" in the game description.
>Sees the PS4/PS5 logo on the trailers platform list.
>Laughs
Kinda into the art style. It looks better than the shovelware I imagined in my head.
Can't wait for Wife Quest 2: Husband Quest!
Where is the naughtiness? After Waifu Uncovered the bar is high. Also, is the game any good? I have my hands full, literally, with triple a quality modern traditional two dimensional platformer video games as well metroidvanias. especially metroidvanias. It has come to the point where I have to buy some of them to realize they are trash. where others are good, but none beat that little white horned beetle or whatever he is

This is a good game, i just recently completed it on PC. A lot of fun and good humor throughout.
And it's not a "naughty" game; at worst there's perhaps some PG (maybe PG-13) level innuendo in the dialogue. However, for those who are familiar with action-platformer/metroidvania style H-games (for example, the Succubus series of games by LibraHeart), a lot of the gameplay mechanics and style are similar.
Certainly recommended for those who like fun action-platformers.
Can they put Duel Princess back on the Switch?
