Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl on the Nintendo Switch have now been updated to Version 1.1.2.
According to the patch notes, it fixes some issues that would prevent players from progressing under certain circumstances and also resolves some other issues for a "more pleasant gameplay" experience. Here are the patch notes in full, courtesy of Nintendo's official support page:
Ver. 1.1.2 (December 1, 2021)
- Fixed some issues that would prevent the game from progressing under certain circumstances.
- Some issues have also been fixed for more pleasant gameplay.
There have also been reports of cloning and duplication glitches over the past few weeks, and it appears this latest patch may have addressed some of these exploits. If you buy either game in physical form, you can avoid this latest update if your Nintendo Switch is in an offline state.

And still no GTS. Well done. The NPC blocking the way may as well have just come out and said, "This area is still under development as our multi-billion dollar company is lacking in resources. Please understand."
Been fairly pleasant already, but I won't say no to even more pleasant gameplay.
@Silly_G Not trying to defend TPC, but ILCA probably didn't have a choice. They released the game in the state it was in because it wasn't entirely finished, but they were rushed to meet the deadlines of TPC, so that the anime and merch wouldn't get pushed back. It's deplorable that it happened, but it's not ILCA's fault.
People online are saying the dupe exploits have been patched
What’s the menu glitch?
@VoidofLight Tbh I also wonder if the GTS stuff(and other similar online-focused trading/etc features) being unavailable yet has to do with development or rather a purposeful delay, to make sure common post-games pokemons aren't readily available within weeks or even days of the game's release and instead see GTS being introduced only when a subtantial part of players(or at least, "enough") would have made it to said post-game.
Like, for another example. If Home had already been available at release you know there's players who'd have loaded all of their (compatible) expert bred pokemon and probably binge/sped-run the thing so as to complete the main game story within 1-2 days and then have posted about it all online.
Honestly it could be a mixture of things, not all of them development related.
So was the infamous softlock patched out?
@VoidofLight Yes, it is likely not ILCA’s fault. But this isn’t the first time a Pokémon game has been launched half finished. So who’s fault is it? There is absolutely no excuse for a profitable company as TPC to keep releasing these subpar games. I think we need to be honest here and say that the TPC needs to hire more developers or provide more resources for these developers to meet their deadlines. They have been doing this for over 20 years. If a project manager keeps screwing their project timelines and deliverables this long, they would have been fired ages ago.
@graviton What if GTS isn't a development thing but done on purpose to control "when" the floodgates of easily accessible post-game national dex pokemons are opened?
Because ultimately GTS being turned on would be akin to that, a floodgate for anything that's in the post-game.
I still need more pokemon to clone, So I will wait till the GTS update if thats the case.
@VoidofLight pretty much sums up my feelings as well.
@VoidofLight : I wasn't laying the blame on ILCA. The onus of delaying the game rests with TPCi and/or Nintendo and they should have acted appropriately.
Seeing as the cloning glitch has been nerfed, I'm going to hold out before updating. I'm not a big enough cheat to want to clone a heap of shinies. I just want enough legendaries to use as currency in the GTS just as I did in the original Pearl.
@Ludovsky That is a possibility, but a rather bad decision. They can easily restrict people who haven’t finished the game to GTS with a single line of code and/or stop people from using national dex Pokémons elsewhere in the game. Arbitrarily locking GTS is essentially them preventing players from accessing in game content that we already paid for… so if I were to start playing this game in a years time, GTS will be available to me right away then? Does that even make sense?
@Silly_G But by then, we will have access to Pokemon home anyways. There will be plenty of legendaries for all.
The more anti-hack measures the better!
I miss being a kid and knowing nothing about glitches and people cloning and all that. I just enjoyed playing the game, period.
@graviton Never defended TPC. I agree they need to let the games have more time, and stop rushing development for their anime and merch, but they're clearly not listening since they keep allowing it to happen.
@VoidofLight : Which makes the rushing of the remakes all the more frustrating. There was no anime or film for the game to coincide with as they were done and dusted a decade ago. They could have delayed BD/SP indefinitely and it would not have made a difference in that respect.
@Silly_G Thing is TPC demand a "mainline" entry every year, the game could have been broken beyond repair and half finished and they still would have forced this release.
I'm hyped for Legends but i wouldn't be shocked if it has issues and has this could have been more feeling if Gamefreak were giving more time and money but as it is they have to fit around what TPC wants and that's that.
I always thought Nintendo owned Pokémon because it doesn't come to other consoles but after googling it apparently they only own 32% of it
@Silly_G There actually were stuff that tied into BDSP, causing it to be rushed. A whole line of merch just released that tied into BDSP, and there was an episode of the anime set to release close to BDSP.
While i understand they had a deadline to get this game out with some features being delayed. I'd hope they finally gave us a new game plus option since Home isn't ready yet.
lol they really need a perma-faint after all these years.
I'm having fun though, i wasn't a fan of DPP, it's so odd that i remember getting Rotom though.
Well, fixing the glitches turned this game from a 7 to a 5 for me. This is the worst endgame grind Pokemon has been since Generation 4. An absolut regression from the improvements GameFreak made over the last couple of Generations in order to reduce the grind. And then ILCA has the nerve to call it " more pleasant gameplay". 200 BP for Ability Patches? 80 BP for TM Earthquake? And all of that in a win streak based Battle Tower. I'm glad I disabled auto updates or else I'd be shelving this game now.
@Ludovsky I think that's likely why the GTS isn't available yet. And unlike some, I think it's a good idea. GTS lets people skip game content too easily.
That's why it's handy to have both. I won't update BD so I can have access to all the glitches and will have an up to date SP for whatever reason.
Does this mean they fixed how people where getting stuck in the snow gym puzzle, or behind npc after following pokémon pushing players behind certain npc and getting stuck on terrain?
@Ludovsky “so as to complete the main game story within 1-2 days and then have posted about it all online.“
And spoil a 15 year old game?
@larryisaman
There are still a few new surprises in this game, even if they're just small surprises.
How about fixing animations like Ekans following you? It's embarrassing.
Wish they would sort the frame rate. Walking around is agony for my eyes.
@Would_you_kindly Yeah, the ownership split is a whole thing. It’s worth a read because it’s quite interesting how the shares got split up between GameFreak, Creatures Inc., etc.
@Silly_G that’s the murderer officer
@Maximumbeans it's really confusing
