Riot Forge and Choice Provisions have lifted the lid on their new "fast-paced" rhythm runner for the Nintendo Switch.
It's officially titled Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story, and will be arriving on the hybrid system on the 16th of November (that's next week). You can get a better idea of what to expect in the trailer above.
And here's a bit more PR from the official game website:
Bomb, bounce, and bop to the beat of the music to avoid obstacles, disarm enemies, and light fuses to achieve maximum chaos. Cause musical mayhem while outrunning no-fun-allowed Heimerdinger in your quest to build the greatest bomb the world has ever seen!
Use the Freestyle Mayhem System to create spontaneous blasts and grab bonus points… all while dodging the fun police and showing them what they’re really missing.
Leave no fuse unlit in Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story.
Pre-orders are now available on the Nintendo Switch. What do you think of the announcement trailer? Do you play LOL? Comment down below.

@PBandSmelly ah yes. Riot games. Also known as being owned by TENCENT.
But it doesn't look like a MOBA or any... micro transaction gacha mechanic game though. Single player experience apparently I think. So I will be watching this one cautiously.
Might wait for Ruined King to see how that game goes first
I love Ziggs as a character, but not a super big fan of rhythm games(outside of some unconventional ones like Technic beat on PS2). I'll keep an eye out for it, though.
Also should be noted, the devs of this game(Choice Provisions) also created Runner3 and... Bubsy: Paws on Fire. Make of that what you will.
@Savage_Joe there is also the fact from what I hear that the LoL community is very toxic. Also League is kinda of an overrated game anyway but I am interested in Ruined King so Idk for sure.
LOL is Very toxic, thats why people don't like it, Because if you aren't good at the game, there going to call you ass out!
@Snatcher yeah that is why I don't play it. Also I don't like MOBA's much to be honest.
I am slowly being a bit more open to Chinese developed games. HOWEVER I am not OK with Chinese developed games with being F2P, P2W and all that. So yeah
@Savage_Joe true but LoL is even more worse. @Snatcher said so all right.
And also Riot is owned by Tencent which means... probably sending information to the CCP. But for single player and story driven games like this, I don't think they will do that. At least, I hope they don't...
@Savage_Joe I don't blame Riot at all, I just don't like the game bc of that.
@Snatcher I heard Wild Rift's community isn't quite very bad. So maybe Wild Rift perhaps is ok then? Whenever it comes to consoles that is
Every community has a toxic part somewhere. If people ask online (and maybe offline) how they would feel if nintendo goes third party they would be downvoted/called out into oblivion.
@Savage_Joe LoL is pretty notorious for having one of the most toxic communities, and from what I've seen, it's pretty rare that Riot takes action. When you report someone, the game will send you a "by the way, someone you reported had action taken against them" if that person gets punished (or gets a warning). I've seen folks flame pretty much non-stop in games, players intentionally throwing matches, straight-up bullying other players, etc., and almost never received the notification. The few times that I have, it's been for folks outright using slurs or threatening people.
I've largely swapped to ARAM, an alternate LoL game mode that is much faster, and generally more chill. There's still certainly some bad eggs and some poor sportsmanship (folks sure do like typing "gg ez" at the end of matches) but it's at least a step up from the normal game modes.
I think it'd be solved by Riot actually taking action more on toxic players, but I think they're afraid of losing players to suspensions and bans tbh. They're removing the allchat feature (or maybe they did already?) where players can talk to their opponents, which feels a bit like a misguided step to me.
LoL and Overwatch have the most toxic communities I've played, but I still play those games (not now with my ACNH addiction and taking a break from LoL). LoL is a fun game and Riot makes some impressive stuff. I'll probably have a lot of fun with this game. I'm not much of a rhythm player, but I love Ziggs and Heimerdinger. Its $10, not too bad. I think people are missing out on some fun games for avoiding Riot Games. Legends of Runeterra is one of the funnest card games I've played and pretty fair about being able to get any card you want. Wild Rift is the mobile and soon to be console version of LoL and its pretty fun and different, being a lot quicker.
Oh nice, I didn't know Riot was into making single player experiences like this one. Gotta admit it kinda looks neat. I'll keep my eyes on this one. Hopefully its not on the expensive side.
EDIT: Okay so its $10 on the pre-order page, that's not too bad. Hope it turns out good
@thiz the game above actually made me check out their site. They have a bunch of interesting projects and they really have some serious worldbuilding going on. I don't play any MOBA and didn't like Valorant so maybe they want to expand their reach to other types of gamers.
Interesting choice of character considering there are actual music based champions in LoL like Sona and Seraphine. I've been playing LoL for 11 years now, I might aswell check it out
Legends of Runeterra is super free to play, so even if I wanted, I just can't shoot down all LoL-related video game projects on the basis of LoL itself being objectively bad.
@anoyonmus If you're so concerned about your info being stolen you might as well stay away from F2P games. And I'm more concerned about my info being taken by my own government than a foreign one who can't affect me one bit.
Oh wow, this looks really quality. And it’s coming out so soon? Exciting stuff! I’m stoked to start seeing the results of Riot Forge
The character looks kind of annoying and I have no interest in League of Legends... but I do love rhythm platformers, so I might give this a go anyway.
I might actually try this.
I'm not a League person per se, but one of my most anticipated games is the Airship Syndicate League of Legends RPG, and maybe it would be fun to dip into that universe a little
So still no update on the Switch release of Wild Rift then eh?
@Neweegee What about Space Channel 5???
Thats one for the Switch!!!!!!!
@PBandSmelly It actually made by Choice Provisions, a developer that had no relationship to Riot, and Riot Forge is only publishing
@PBandSmelly Yeah... It said the name of the developer in the first sentence of the article and the video.
@Octane_st1m Yeah. This something they started back in 2019. While Riot, the actual studio, isn't into making single player experience. They want to continue making mostly live-service games that primarily focus on the competitive, multiplayer experience. They know that people love the LoL IP, characters, lore, universe. So they created Riot Forge, a separate label within Riot Games that is focused on publishing League of Legends games from third-party game studios
