Japanese developer qureate – best-known for its rather risqué titles, such as Prison Princess and NinNinDays – has announced that it is bringing Duel Princess to the Switch on January 13th, 2022.
The title is a side-scrolling tower defence effort, featuring 10 princesses (designed by Waon Inui) whose power must be overcome and then added to your team in order to defeat the Great Demon King. There's a big deck-building element to the game, with players using cards to summon units – which come in close, medium, and long-range types – and activate skills.
Because this is a qureate game, there's plenty of cheesecake on display. For example, during battle, each princess will lose clothing as it becomes torn and battered. There's also a ceremony included called “Punishment” that needs to be performed to seal away crests that appear on defeated princesses; during this process, the princess’s body temperature and heartrate increase, forcing a crest to appear which the player can then remove.
The game will carry a CERO rating of D (for players 17 and older) in Japan, which shouldn't come as a massive shock, given its content.
Duel Princess will cost $24.99 and comes with English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language support, as well as full Japanese voice acting.

"Saucy tower defense" say no more, Tower Defenses and Sauces are my two favorite things, all I know is that if Buffalo sauce isn't OP, I will be pissed...that's what the title meant by saucy tower defense, right?
Mmm, I do appreciate a good ecchi game.
But...will this be good?
Looks good, but should have left out all the Ecchi crap...
Like how every Japanese studio is now copying the Persona (5) Style, likely making it the Japanese game design trendsetter for the 2020s
Why is it that people are still more bothered by such minor lewd content but barely bat an eyelash towards intense violence in media?
You can literally rape and kill in games like GTA or carry out actual massacres in COD and it hardly turns a head anymore.
In movies you can have full blown war in a PG13 film. But show a nipple or two and suddenly it's X rated.
It's beyond stupid. This society that glorifies violence and throws a tantrum about anime tits is stupid.
I don’t care whether it’s boobs, butts, blood, or gore, I just want a solid tower defense game on the Switch. This doesn’t look like it’s worth its sauce.
@Heavyarms55 what GTA were you playing because none of the ones i have had rape
The thumbnail made me think it was Pyra and Mythra reinterpreted by a different artist
@somebread There is a scene in GTA5. It's not player controlled but the player has the option of watching or stopping the scene. Either way I agree with Heavyarms55. There is such a double standard when it comes to violence and sex in videogames. Like, people celebrate the ridiculous violence in games like Mortal Kombat yet even seeing something mild like panties in videogames still makes people raise their eyebrows. There is nothing wrong if someone dislikes these fanservice games but there is also nothing wrong if someone does enjoy them.
More on topic though, I'm currently playing through Prison Princess which is from the same developer so I'll definitely keep an eye out for this one.
@MajinSoul if it's the scene i found google searching, it's intended to be cannibalism, but there may be another; admittedly i haven't got through GTA V all the way yet due to side stuff
at the end of the day, 25 bones for a tower defense game is a lot to ask IMO, buttcheeks available or otherwise. same thing that keeps me from getting battle cats
Might get this if its less than £15, can't go wrong with a bit of ecchi 😂 though after watching over an hundred anime you kind get used to it
Percentage of people who will have sex in their lives - 99%
Percentage of people who will kill another human in their lives - 1%
Freakout level of sex in media - 9
Freakout level of death in media - 1
Life is weird.
If one has to sell their game using salacious pixels and polygons, rather than the actual quality of the gameplay, I'm just gonna assume the game isn't very good.
Art style/artwork is used to sell games all the time, and is as valid a reason to buy a game as any other.
Anyway if you’re not into it, just ignore it. I don’t get why these kinds of games seem to offend people personally. If you’re not the target audience that’s fine, but let people enjoy things.
@Heavyarms55
"But show a nipple or two..."
They do tend to come in pairs, yeah. 😆
@hel105 honestly, it sucks when it's used to market mediocre games regardless of sex appeal too (see: a fair amount of AAA games, and even indies like Owlboy)
@CharlieGirl You could say the same about games that seems more about pandering to the woke crowd than first and foremost being a game too.
This trailer did have gameplay, and it looks like it could be a interesting game. So will keep an eye on it
@Tobiaku That’s a false equivalency. Even if this game did pander to whatever one could deem “the woke crowd”, I guarantee you that it would not involve the objectification of young women and girls.
@needmorecowbell And your guarantee would most likely be right, they most likely not include any sexy female characters at all.
But my equivalency is not false. I'm saying shes going to assume the game is bad because the trailer focus on ecchi content, then out of equality she can assume that games where the marketing seems to be more focused on characters sexuality or skincolor than gameplay is just as bad.
@CharlieGirl In a more general way, selling everything except gameplay and storyline usually means it's a bad game (or any media). I guess it still sells if someone keeps making these without bothering about quality.

@UltimateOtaku91 Hell yes.. I knew you wouldn't let me down!
@Tobiaku Fighting the good fight for all us degenerates, I see 😁
Typical anime, softcore material right here which is the definition of Ecchi.
Not my thing, but looks well done.
Again with those darn eShop and no Physical option.
@Heavyarms55 I don't like hyper-realistic games of a violent nature, and I know @anti-matter enjoys more tame selections. I have seen other users post on here about preferring less violent games, as well, so there are examples of people who don't like hyper-realistic violence. You seem awfully triggered by the topic, considering that the only post that was before yours just called it "ecchi crap," and didn't really go further in depth, and the other two posts were a joke and someone actually saying they liked ecchi games.
@FantasiaWHT That's a pretty disingenuous observation that entirely removes any nuance from the subject!
Looks like it could be fun. I'll grab it, see if it's worth my time.
I wonder what sauces I can play as.
@Heavyarms55 Same reason why a show where a character says something insensitive to another character that could hurt someone's feelings if a person said that to them in real life can get the show in hot water, but depictions of graphic sexual violence in Law & Order: SVU or serial killing in Dexter is fine.
People just have really intense double standards about what's acceptable.
...and of course the trailer didn't show much other than the girls. -.-
Man, look at all that G A M E P L A Y
So I looked it up, it had an English page on the Japanese website, lol.
I'll keep an eye on it but it seems like I'd rather just stick with Battle Cats.
@needmorecowbell No, it will involve the objectification and humilation of young men and boys as I'm sure you know. His equivalency isn't false, yours is though
@CharlieGirl What you should assume is that you're not the target audience of the game in the first place. It's clearly a game made for a male audience and I'm sure they'll enjoy it (me included, ofc).
Not so much a trailer as a cast list.
Likely wait for a few reviews and perhaps a sale.
@TheMnassri Please elaborate on your assertion that something being deemed woke in your words “will involve the objectification and humiliation of young men and boys”. How so? Also happy holidays 😄
@BloodNinja Please. You know better than that.
Sex is a natural part of life that nearly all mammals take part in. But only humans murder. I've never heard of Animals killing their own for petty reasons like people do. Only predators hunting for food.
Going a little more on topic, my issue is the double standard. I'm not anti violence in video games. A lot of the games I enjoy portray it. In clearly fictional settings and scenarios with obviously fictional characters.
They are not real people, they are not in the real world nor are they meant to appear to be. And that's what people need to understand.
Games like GTA and COD and stuff are set to mimic the real world. They might use fictional names but that's it. GTA is clearly set in cities like NYC or LA and COD just blatantly show realistic looking soldiers flying real world flags inspired by possible real world events.
That people get upset over fictional panties but are cool with realistic portrayals of intense violence turned into a game is something I am not capable of understanding or accepting.
@Heavyarms55 If you’re not capable of understanding it, don’t judge it.
@Savage_Joe I appreciate your well thought out reply. Certainly with any movement, especially one as wide as what would be considered by many as “wokeism”, there will be a multitude of bad agents. I am not defending that. Being woke to me, for example, is the assertion of being actively anti-racist vs. just not being a racist.
Think about it this way: After 9/11 Muslims were being depicted as violent and a threat, not just to certain men, but everyone, when in reality the VAST majority are peacefully practicing people, like you or I. The vast majority of people we might consider “woke” are not about straight up male bashing, or absurd hyperbolic or conflated responses. They just believe for example in the ACTUAL (not whatever many media channels are pumping) dictionary definition of feminism for example.
@BloodNinja Same to you buddy.
@Heavyarms55 But I do understand it, and I don't judge people for their likes and dislikes.
@MajinSoul Good to see an other fellow person playing Prison Princess, I quite enjoyed it. For an escape game, it was definitely better than I expected. ^__^
