It's that time of year when holiday tie-ins flood the Switch eShop, although this latest addition to Nintendo's digital storefront is a little racier than the usual festive fare. Yes, even more so than Santa Tracker, an app which follows Santa as he races around the globe on Christmas Eve. You can't get much racier than that, surely?
Well, it seems you can! Coming from Winged Cloud, developer of Would you like to run an idol café? and dozens of 'Sakura' series titles, Sakura Santa is available now on Switch eShop.
It's a holiday-themed visual novel that follows the festive escapades of Koji, a student who's feeling lonely after leaving home to study at university. One trip to a shrine and one wish later and the lonely chap is inundated with beautiful women wearing all manner of yuletide attire (or not) and he has to decide which of three alluring candidates he's going to spend the holidays with.
The PR blurb highlights such features as "Beautiful girls and romance", "Beautiful anime art", and "Multiple story paths". The game has been available on Steam since 2015, and while a cursory Google search will throw up several examples of the aforementioned anime art showing the girls in varying states of festive undress, this is a family site. As such, we've stuck to the screenshots Nintendo UK feels comfortable showcasing on its website:
Sakura Santa launched on Switch eShop on 16th December for 9.99 — USD, GBP, and EUR — although it's got 20% off until 6th January. Let us know below if you'll be investigating its yuletide charms this holiday season.
Hey, it can't possibly be worse than the Last Christmas movie, right? Not that that film was 'bad' per se — it just felt like a surreal improv experiment Emma Thompson conducted while listening to Wham! under the influence of some psychedelic eggnog.
Seriously, have you seen Last Christmas? It's the weirdest thing we've watched in years. Anyway. Video games.

Game has hot girls, so will check out!
This oughta satisfy those weebs....
I bought this yesterday when it came out, lol .. it is the holidays after all. What better way to celebrate it? 😅
@dustinprewitt Pretty much, lol .. my first day one purchase since Doki Doki Literature Club Plus (Premium Physical version).
@dustinprewitt I'm curious.. why are all the best games rated 1/10 on your list? All the big AAA titles and whatnot like Crysis, Catherine, Duke Nukem and so forth. All the good ones. I own a Switch primarily for the big AAA games and visual novels. I'm not a fan of Nintendo exclusives. Visual novels and FPS's are my specialty. I also like RPG and horror games as well.
Oh and since this is the Switch version and not 18+ PC version wouldn't it actually be a blue ball Christmas? Lol
@dustinprewitt Hot girls are always welcome in games
It’s one thing to just buy this game and that be the end of it but do we really have to go down the ‘let’s make this site incredibly unwelcoming to women’ route in the comments?
@nessisonett Women are as welcome to the site as anyone else.
I definitely misread this headline as a holiday version of "Sakuna: Of Rice & Ruin"
@vincentgoodwin Any time I see Sakuna and misread and think they're talking about another Sakura game. I checked out Winged Cloud and they've made over 50 of them since 2014, lol
God damnit not another one of these
@JustMonika what would you say would be the tone of this Visual novel? Is it more humorous or is it more romantic or combination of both?
I don't really see the point of these when the uncensored PC versions exist.
@JustMonika I'm curious too, because I don't recall ever playing or rating any of these games.....
Hey, they weren't the screenshots we wanted 😏
My taste in visual novels have changed over the last few years, I prefer ones that are more serious and have a mystery about them or Sci fi elements such as lost memories, world end syndrome, danganronpa, steins gate, Ai somnium files, date a live etc so this will be a miss from me. These kind of visual novels are aimed at the more ecchi oriented guys/women who love fan service. If that's not for you then move on
If I want hot chicks I want the game Physical so I can take them and play on any Switch that I like.
@nessisonett maybe don't comment if it upsets you?
Last Christmas is great, I won't hear a bad word said about it!
Next article by Gavin: "NL Guide: How to access the Switch's hidden web browser"
@nessisoffett more like people commenting in a article about a game they find interesting? Does NL shadowban people? If anything it would be more likely to happen in a article about a "protected" game the woke crowd like if they do it
EDIT: Either he deleted his second post her I was replying too or NL still deletes post the old way without a trace

@Tobiaku That deleted post seemed to be from a different account, likely a troll one mimicking the other user which could be why the post vanished.
@Mgalens @Tobiaku LMAO, I’m actually somewhat honoured to have someone attempting to impersonate my account 😂
@Mgalens you are absolutely right.
@nessisonett you have my apologies for not noticing it was someone else
@UltimateOtaku91 I've already taken a couple pictures if you want to see some good stuff from it, lol
@Themagusx1 Both
@SwitchForce This isn't like Aokana or If My Heart Had Wings which personally took me over 90 hours each to complete, lol. Finish all routes in under 10 hours for this, lol
I am not into these types of games.
@nessisonett Lesbians exist.
@Chocobo_Shepherd No lesbians I know like weirdo men salivating over ‘hot girls’.
@nessisonett I guess you should meet more of them.
@RubyDevilNine Again, if you people could actually learn to read, I said that the problem was the atmosphere being given off in the comments. Which was primarily men going on about ‘hot girls’. I didn’t say anything about women not liking the game.
@RubyDevilNine You’ve missed out the literal next 4 words of that quote ‘route in the comments’. Please please learn to read. At no point at all have I said anything should be changed, in fact I basically said fair enough if you buy these games.
@nessisonett worst part is "offett" completely breaks the earthbound joke...
@Tobiaku So honest! Respect!
Oh lord I just ran into a battlefield didn't I?
@nessisonett What about men salivating over loli anime girls? They're all grown up in this VN so no worries. If you want that then check out Maitetsu: Pure Station which I'm still working on, lol
I really love reading comments when it comes to articles like this.
To be fair, there are a lot, I mean a LOT of men (and FWIW women as well), that very much like content like this ("weeb" stuff as they call it?) that in the real world are also very respectful, dignified, proper human beings of society.
Saying things like "hot girls" in the comments is indeed debatable, but personally if women took the time to click on the article, it's either they agree/doesn't care about the term at all/have the same interests as with the males. Same goes for reverse harem VNs. My sister love those (even the 18+ ones). wink
I would personally just keep my mouth shut and let people talk about what they enjoy rather than planting landmines all over the place. I'm pretty sure if someone did get offended then they'll say something and start from there.
@RubyDevilNine hear hear!!
Th-that's it...! If I see one more comment calling an anime girl hot, I'll feel forever unwelcomed and delete my Nintendolife account! ;-;
@Aerona @Chocobo_Shepherd @RubyDevilNine Hear Hear!!
I would like it more if it can be a Physical cart.
Ha ha ha. No.
(2021 Benny Hill gaming)
@Zyph I love weeb stuff such as anime and visual novels probably more than anyone in the world. I even got a Yui Hirasawa tattoo that takes up half my arm. But I'm also a PCA and unit councilor at a hospital in the world's highest rated medical center. So I highly agree with everything you said.
@Aerona What about calling a loli "head pattable"? 🤣
@SwitchForce They'll probably make a Sakura collection eventually.. there's millions of these by Winged Cloud.
