Nope. I will play in on my computer, using LEGAL emulation and my LEGALLY dumped copies of Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, in 4K resolution using a LEGAL 4K texture pack, using my ORIGINAL Nintendo Wii Remote and the Dolphin Bar. ... You hear that, Nintendo? It's all LEGAL. You can't touch this. (but I'm sure you will try going after Dolphin emulator next, it's only a matter of time)
Btw. remember when Nintendo was selling the Metroid Prime Trilogy digitally for just €9.99 on Wii U? Good times. And a different Nintendo back then.
So, yeah, if you have any other means of playing these games, do it. They are masterpieces, especially Galaxy 2.
I wonder whether they used the NTSC or the PAL version of Bubsy 3D for the port. The PAL version had some slight differences and had no memory card support for some reason. Also, "Super Bubsy" (which is essentially the PC version of the Super Nintendo game) seems to be missing, alongside the cartoon pilot.
(btw. I bought Super Bubsy just to have the cartoon pilot in higher picture quality, but sadly the quality is just as bad as the YouTube upload)
So let me get this straight: The 2 vs 2 mode which has been a staple for freaking decades and has been sorely missing ever since Ndcube got their hands on the Mario Party franchise is now locked behind a console paywall. Great. Just great.
I loved Bubsy 3D. Played it to death years ago. Sure, the controls felt a bit "weird" at first, but I got used it very quickly. Loved the soundtrack and the vast, colorful environments. The haters can hate all they want, I will forever support Bubsy!
I still don't know whether it's possible to connect an external SSD and use that for storage. Those express cards surely can't be the only way to extend the storage, right?...
Easily Mario Party 6. Love the style, love the orb system, love the boards, and I especially love the mini-games and music. And the single player mode isn't all that bad either.
I have seen a friend of mine play this game yesterday.
I will say it one last time: Camelot Software Planning isn't what it used to be. They peaked at the GC/GBA era and then everything went downhill...
This game only offers a fraction of content the previous games had. You can't play doubles. You can't play character matches and unlock star players that way. You can't play skins. You can't play ring shot. The incredibly fun "club slots" mode from Toadstool Tour and Advance Tour is also not in the game. There is no coin shoot. There is no "near-pin" mode. You can't even set the AI difficulty. It's absolutely bare-bones in every level and this should be explicitly stated in the review.
The animations are super boring and have been cut down to one positive animation, one neutral animation and one negative animation while all the other games had at least five unique animations per character. 6 courses is a laughably low amount. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 on the GameCube had 19 courses, just so you know.
The hud looks boring and the font is too tiny. Though that's a problem with many Nintendo games these days...
I can't say anything about the adventure mode and I don't care about Speed Golf and Battle Golf. I'm pretty sure the story mode does not even come close the one on the GBA.
I've been waiting for a new console Mario Golf since Toadstool Tour and seeing this junk is an insult; a punch in the face. Yes, it may get free course and character updates but even then the base game is so light on content that I can't justify paying €60 for it. And I hate the "release now, fill the gaps later" mentality.
So why the hell do they not put it into the game and release... you know... a COMPLETE game? 6 courses and the amount of characters are laughable for a 2021 release. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004 on the GameCube had 19 (!!) courses, and that was released almost 20 years ago.
I mentioned it already, but I'll say it again: this is not the Camelot that it used to be. Seems like they are forced to shove in a shiny new gimmick with each iteration now... I don't care in the slightest for Speed Golf and am absolutely puzzled that modes like doubles, character matches, skins matches, ring shot, near-pin, coin shoot, club slots etc. all seem to be missing.
I'll probably buy it in a year or so, when the game is actually complete.
This game is also missing tons of stuff that Toadstool Tour had, like Character Matches, Ring Shot, Club Slots, Coin Shoot, Skins Match, Near-Pin and plenty more. Does anyone know if you can even play in a Double team?
It's clear to me that Camelot has lost their touch. Also have fun paying for the inevitable Season Pass.
This looks terrible and the roster is terrible. Seems like Camelot has forgotten what made their GC/GBA games so great. It's been over 15 years and this is what they come up with? Disappointing. I'm tired of gimmicks.
Has anybody noticed that, on the official website, the game is said to have "in-game purchases" (scroll all the way down to the ESRB rating)? Mario Tennis Aces does not have that line. So, microtransactions confirmed?
I don't like Bluetooth. It never seems to work correctly on Windows. That's why I'm using a cheap no-name-controller with a wireless dongle. It connects immediately after turning the controller on.
The SN30Pro+ works fine on the Switch though. Turn the Switch on, then hold Y+Start for a few seconds. Let go of the buttons and after a couple seconds it should be recognized by the Switch.
Bought it, played it, got annoyed by the motion controls, sold it. I wasn't impressed and would have liked a Mario Golf with classic controls much better. Oh well...
It would be interesting to see how the RNG works in Fortune Street. I save-stated the crap out of that game in Single Player mode and the dice were almost always rigged against me. Also, the results of the Round The Block minigame are predetermined (it doesn't matter when you stop the spinning blocks).
Horrible. How could this get past game testing? Just imagine this happening in the GC era. It wouldn't be possible to simply "patch" something like that.
Sadly not developed by EA. I liked the 2004, 2005 and 2006 games best - with fictional golfers that actually have personality, hilarious animations and amazing commentary. That is something that "The Golf Club 2019 feat. PGA Tour" sorely lacked. It is fine as a golf simulation but lacks everything that EA did right with the PGA Tour games. I hope that this one turns out to be more fun.
I have no idea how to find my "World Maker" code. All I get is my ID for my maker profile. Mario Maker 2's user interface is absolutely horrid, I have trouble finding things that you should find at a glimpse, such as courses created by your friends. Also apparently there is no way to play your worlds online with your friends?? Typical Nintendo.
This has happened multiple times, but not specifically with one game. I just boot up the Switch and am greeted with a "The SD card has been removed, pls restart" message even though I have never removed the SD card. It's probably because of the awful Switch hardware and / or Switch OS.
I wonder if they are stupid enough to dox every media attendee again, like they did last time by putting an unprotected Excel file on their servers. The list also included five people from NintendoLife btw.
A very useless article. I thought you'd test every single one of them instead of just complaining about the controller designs. Lame clickbait as usual.
The Switch's WiFi module is absolute garbage. I never had problems with my Wii, Wii U or my PC. My Switch is the only device that has trouble connecting to my network. I actually have to take the Switch out of its dock, walk downstairs next to the router, then when the connection is established, walk upstairs again, put it back in the dock and hope that it holds the connection. Absolutely awful hardware design. Nintendo really wants to make sure you spend additional money on one of their official LAN adapters. Easy profit for them.
Finally a game to look forward to, next to the limited edition of the new Bubsy game! I hope this one involves as much motion control as the very first Mario & Sonic on Wii.
