Re: Feature: Talking Super Smash Bros. Ultimate With Nintendo's Bill Trinen And Nate Bihldorff

@Cobalt Don't listen to these fanboys, they would gobble up anything Nintendo throws at them. I really enjoy reading your comments as you don't seem to be afraid of criticizing Nintendo for their sub-par performance.

As for Smash: it's an enhanced port. The animations are exactly the same as in Smash 4 with some minor tweaks. There are far more differences between Smash 64 / Melee / Brawl / Smash 4 than there are between Smash 4 and Smash 5.

The Nintendo Direct was a huge disappointment... they spent way too much time on the Smash part. There wasn't even anything exciting. What Smash 5 really needs is a single player mode that is actually worth playing. I doubt that they can manage to make something meaningful though.

Re: Fans Are Calling Out Nintendo And Camelot For "Lazy" Mario Tennis Aces

LizardTaro

Mario Tennis Aces is a rushed game and Camelot Software Planning has completely lost their touch over the past years. During the GC/GBA era they produced top-notch Mario sports games but everything that came after that has been a disappointment (according to reviews).

Mario Tennis Aces is no different. It's a port of the Wii U game and they STILL couldn't add enough to warrant the price tag:

> local multiplayer has a MANDATORY splitscreen (wtf)
> the "Adventure Mode" is nothing but a beefed up minigame-mode with simple cutscenes; it is nowhere near as complex as the story mode in the GBA title, which Nintendo advertised (false advertising)
> Adventure Mode is only 3-4 hours, repetitive and frustrating
> characters are added via DLC (at least it's free)
> custom settings are horrible (no way to change the number of sets, only way to choose courts is via a weird convoluted exclusion setting)
> no Item mode like in Power Tennis
> only three single player tournaments without any funny winning animations like in Power Tennis (and you don't even unlock anything, making this mode completely useless)
> swing mode is a gimmicky dud
> no customization options like custom rackets
> day one update (1.9 GB)

This is the consensus of multiple reviews that I've read. I also played the demo and the online gameplay was absolutely horrendous, the worst online experience I have ever had in my life. The controls were delayed by one or even two seconds, making all matches unplayable.

The reviewers on this site probably get money from Nintendo in exchange for good scores. I can't possibly think of any other reason why so many titles are overrated on this website. NintendoLife is also quick to damage control / defend Nintendo.

Re: Review: Mario Sports Superstars (3DS)

LizardTaro

What happened to Nintendo and "2nd Party" developers? The sports games on the GameCube were absolutely stellar (Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, Mario Power Tennis, Mario Superstar Baseball, Mario Smash Football) and this is all we are getting now? A watered-down sports compilation? Also, this should have been a Wii U game...

Re: Preview: Hitting the Courts in Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash

LizardTaro

This game offers less than every Mario Tennis game before (maybe except Mario's Tennis for Virtual Boy). Really disappointing.... this looks more like a $15 eShop title than a full-fledged game.
I'll probably still buy it for the online mode. By the way, is it possible to create rooms similar to Mario Kart and Smash where you can host matches with your friends? This feature should be a given but it hasn't been mentioned yet...
