@X68000 I have tried so many times to get on board with that sentiment. The planetoid gimmick makes controls and camera way too finicky for me.

@Thomystic I'm hoping for something like Streets of Rage 4. You have to unlock all the moves, but then you get to assign them and make builds.

@Jack_Goetz I remember a reviewer at EGM back in the day betting his peers that Prime wouldn't score over a 7 or 8.

One is Gears, one is Metroid. Sounds asinine, but Metroid is a universe I'm much more in to.

It's not unplayable but it's pretty rough at 30 with no gyro. If they ever get to adding gyro on Switch I'll upgrade.
Edit: yeeeeeeah, no gyro is just too painful at 30 fps. I'll start it again on PS5.

@Novuscourvous It's trashy butt rock, bashing action figures together while yelling the Zelda theme, which has it's place. I dislike musuo, and I love Zelda. Not that I'm having a monocle moment here. It's just junk food.

@Elbow I'd play DOOM on VB. VB emulators also have options to ditch the red and black for less eye-searing visuals. Red and black is appropriate for DOOM though.

Even with swearing off the Switch 2, the cadence of new releases is ridiculous. Rn I have NG Ragebound, Pipistrello, Shinobi, and Silksong and it's enough to make a guy forget the damned backlog he started on.

@SuperFANicom I fall into the "Oh, I'm not buying it at all then" camp. I guess I might take these things more personally.

Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound. It's addicting going back into stages and trying to accomplish all of the tasks to get a high rank. No S ranks for me so far (I just go to slow), but at least Aced each of the stages I have gotten through. It's great.

@Warioware Red Alert, Wario, Tennis, and Teleroboxer were fun, but I'm not sure they hold up well enough to justify a $100 accessory. Besides Wario. I'd recommend playing on an emulator though. You can at least make the palette more bearable there.

Looks suitable to be airbrushed on the side of a van blasting butt rock, which is exactly what these spin-offs are.

It was basically "at least MP4 looks cool" for me. One of the most disappointing. I despise musuo, so that didn't help.

I love the look and idea of this game, but it feels bad to play.

"Two of the best games of all time." I have tried so hard to understand this sentiment. The camera alone is enough of a reason to avoid them. Is it a lore thing? Cause the worlds are like Sonic bonus levels. The gimmick just doesn't work for me.

I don't want to play this because it looks like it's not going to touch Yoshi's Story...like every single other Yoshi game since Yoshi's Story... and I'm just tired of that frustration. My six year old would love it though.

Star Ocean on the SFC (what First Departure is based on) is a really vibrant game.

The thing about First Departure R is that a lot of fans prefer the SFC original, which never saw a western release. That is a gorgeous game, and the pre-rendered backdrops in First Departure R just didn't capture the look of the game at all (though as a series fan, it's cool to have a few different versions of that game). Easy to find a translated rom, but it's not the same.

I'll need to come back to this after I beat all of it, but so far I've enjoyed the challenge. I understand when people get frustrated, but it's going to be a lonnnnng time before we get more HK, probably, so I'm glad for the challenge.

Silksong. It's all I wanted from the series so far. Star Wars Outlaws because everyone keeps saying they fixed most of my problems with it.

More people playing Outlaws than Shinobi. What a bunch of hack frauds.

I'm not getting one for several reasons, but I actually think the library this year has been excellent. If I had one, there's enough there to keep me busy.

Switch 2 put me on backlog and PS5 mode, and I'm happier for it. I'll probably grab this on at least two consoles though.

Im taking it pretty slow, but so far it's been a blast on Switch. I'll take whatever improvements they want to make, and I'm sure Lizard Cube will be adding to this game for a while.

I remember being sooooo upset when this didn't come over here. GBA was life back then. It filled the 2D void in the sixth gen.

@GregamanX I stopped playing Fallout of Avalon because the framerate was making me nauseous. It made the areas in the game seem like Potemkin villages or something. Like they were not real places...which they aren't, but yeah it broke the suspension of disbelief. Really strange. Something I haven't experienced before.

@SuntannedDuck2 I play mainly sixth gen and prior, and a lot of modern indie games...because for a very long time (pretty much until XBLA), indies just weren't a thing on consoles. Now that it's okay to make a Metroidvania or Boom Shooter or whatever, I am appreciative. I'll get a few big AAA things a year, and am usually disappointed. I find that most AAA games suffer from a Ubisoft Ubergame kind of blandness.

One of my favorites ever ever. If you've not played it, I hope you pick it up. The music alone...
