I remember being sooooo upset when this didn't come over here. GBA was life back then. It filled the 2D void in the sixth gen.
...hmmm, I should find a translated rom.
edit: Forty minutes later, and holy hell this game is GORGEOUS.
@GregamanX I stopped playing Fallout of Avalon because the framerate was making me nauseous. It made the areas in the game seem like Potemkin villages or something. Like they were not real places...which they aren't, but yeah it broke the suspension of disbelief. Really strange. Something I haven't experienced before.
@SuntannedDuck2 I play mainly sixth gen and prior, and a lot of modern indie games...because for a very long time (pretty much until XBLA), indies just weren't a thing on consoles. Now that it's okay to make a Metroidvania or Boom Shooter or whatever, I am appreciative. I'll get a few big AAA things a year, and am usually disappointed. I find that most AAA games suffer from a Ubisoft Ubergame kind of blandness.
Rayman Legends is one of the first games my six year old got into, around when he was three or so. When we got the Rayman bot in Astro, he started singing Black Betty. It warmed my heart (as most things Astro Bot tend to do). I was really glad he retained some of that.
High on Life is insufferable. I couldn't stand it for more than a few hours. I don't understand why everyone and every THING in that game felt the need to remark on whatever was happening on screen when 70% of their dialogue is "Um, uhhh, so, eh, ummm...." STFU
I don't have much skin in the game since I'm not getting a Switch 2 until they release an OLED and a first-party game I can't live without...but MP4 this year would make it a pretty damned great launch year. I don't think anything will beat Odyssey and BotW in the same year...
Yes! This is an excellent Ys game, and I still bring out the Vita every now and then to play it. Highly recommended to anyone who has not tried the series. The games are mostly self-contained and often retread the same themes and story beats. That's all there to get to the action and locations, imo.
And some others, even, would argue all THAT is just there to serve the amazing music, lol.
The first thing I do in these Sonic racing games is turn off character voices. And if it's like Sonic's Butt Rock era, the music is next. Long live Racing Transformed.
I'm expecting some expansion to Wonder or maybe even Odyssey that twist arms to get a Switch 2. I don't know, I really hope it's cool. W Nintendo nowadays I almost expect a mobile game...
@Solomon_Rambling it's up there w my favorite games. It passed through very few hands in development, and it shows. It sold like 15 million copies, so I'm sure Team Cherry is cool with it being divisive. I love it but it's not like I don't get why it would not land with everyone.
When HK was out, I used to play it while rocking my little dude in his bouncy chair w my foot. Now he is going to be seven and in to first grade. Nuts.
Dusk, Prodeus, Project Warlock, everything Nightdive (new episodes on a ton of them, they count), Turbo Overkill, Victory Heat Rally, Vernal Edge, etc etc etc.
I always start a Souls game and get overwhelmed by the amount of lore that eludes me. I'm a guy that likes more questions than answers in most of my fiction too, lol. It's too much.
It looks great. Honestly, if MP4 makes it out this year, that's a pretty great launch year for the Switch 2...at least in so far as first-party games (and only first-party games) are concerned.
@Ks123 HK gets incredible once you get a bunch of badges and start making builds for different situations. There's a lot more but I'm not spoiling anything.
I can't wait for Gamefreak to massively screw up whatever it is! Can we go from excitement to disappointment pre-emptively, and spare the drama?
This suspense is absolutely BORING me, I tell you!
I'm the biggest Switch 2/Nintendo hater rn....but just like Banaza, anyone saying this doesn't look like a blast either just dislikes arcade racers, dislikes Kirby, or is being dishonest. This looks incredible.
...just maybe more of a $50-60 kind of "incredible."
@SirLink Oh, yeah, makes sense. I just try to get the things I really want from them when they produce something cool. But I've missed out and gotten annoyed before so I get it.
LEGO DC Villains was a better Suicide Squad game than Suicide Squad, so yeah it pans out that this would be a decent alternative to an Arkham game.
...it really was. If you have kids especially. Way better than it had any right to be.

Re: Rumour: Resident Evil Requiem Could Be Heading To The Switch 2
I'm happy to check out a different version, "inferior" or not. There's a slim chance it could be the better game.
Re: Brownie Brown's GBA Title 'Magical Vacation' Returns This Week (Japan)
@PinderSchloss If you have a GBA or GB, there are translated carts out there of The Frog etc etc. Rad game.
Re: Switch Online's Mature N64 App Expands With Another Title This Week
@PKDuckman Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I wasn't aware it came to XBOX though. I hear my PS5 and OLED are XBOXes now, so what gives?

Wish Nightdive would port this to consoles.

One of my favorites ever ever. If you've not played it, I hope you pick it up. The music alone...
Re: The Force Isn't Strong With Star Wars Outlaws On Switch 2, Initial Impressions Suggest
@Jeronan The game doesn't run fine on PS5, I have had performance issues with this game.
See how that works?

Re: The Force Isn't Strong With Star Wars Outlaws On Switch 2, Initial Impressions Suggest
I was surprised at how bad performance was on PS5 so yeah that pans out.
Re: Opinion: HD-2D Might Be Old News, But Octopath 0's City Building Has Me Buzzing
@SuntannedDuck2 Do you think that maybe indie developers might be trying to make games like the ones they grew up with and love???
Re: Opinion: HD-2D Might Be Old News, But Octopath 0's City Building Has Me Buzzing
Totally forgot about DQ Builders. My six year old would lose it over that game. I appreciate the reminder.
Re: Sonic "Love Letter" Rollin' Rascal Announced For Switch 2
@rvcolem1 Most of the early 2D stuff is charming enough. They locked up Yuji Naka for the rest of it.
Re: Sonic "Love Letter" Rollin' Rascal Announced For Switch 2
"drawing inspiration from 3D Sonic platformers"
Ew. Gross. Why?

Re: Poll: Ahead Of Silksong's Release, Are You 'Finally' Playing Hollow Knight?
I'm going with Shinobi. Streets of Rage 4 is one of the best games ever ever, and Shinobi 3 is top-tier Genesis action. Grabbing iiiiiiiit....now.

Re: Two Of The Worst Mortal Kombat Games To Be Included In Legacy Kollection
@Daniel36 Shaolin Monks is about as close as we got. It helps that it's actually good too, lol. Also, Outworld Assassins, OpenBOR.
Re: Metroid Prime 4 Rating Spotted On Nintendo's Website
@Not_Soos Right. People don't know what clickbait is anymore. While they gladly click on "Metroid Prime 4 News will Change Everything."
Re: Two Of The Worst Mortal Kombat Games To Be Included In Legacy Kollection
Gross but history is important. I know that sounds off coming from an American.

@JR150 Dark Ages on a cart would be sweet...
Re: Rumour: Another Bethesda Game Is Landing On Switch 2, It's Claimed
@kal_el_07241 Starfield is really bad. I know NMS is in a better state, but are there interesting quests in it or is it all emergent?

Re: Nightdive Studios And Limited Run Revive System Shock 2 With A 'Big Box Edition'
@AmplifyMJ Welp, performance tends to matter in a video game, unless it's a visual novel or some other "interactive experience."
Re: Nightdive Studios And Limited Run Revive System Shock 2 With A 'Big Box Edition'
@SirLink Oh, what did they do wrong here??
Re: Kirby Air Riders Direct Revealed for Tomorrow, 19th August 2025
I am starting the first game in a few mins. I hope this is good, and that it somehow escapes the lunacy of Switch 2 pricing etc. If not, oh well.
